#OurVoiceNYC is a youth-driven movement amplifying the vision, voices, and actions of young people to create a just and healthier NYC. The #SodaKills project counters the marketing tactics of sugary drink companies that target communities and shorten lives. 

You can also join the movement! Tomorrow, August 26 there will be a bus tour stopping throughout NYC to spread the word that #SodaKills. You’re invited to meet us at one or more of the following bus stops:

1) Brooklyn- Borough Hall Cadman Plaza West - 2 - 3 p.m.

2) Bronx- Yankee Stadium 161st and River Ave. - 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

A couple months ago we borrowed an idea from NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour and set up round table with guest hosts Sarah and Emily in which we each selected three new TV series to survive the season, and three new TV series that wouldn't make it past the finish line. This week at Pop Culture Coffee Break we have on Janelle Bitker, Editor-in-Chief of the UC Davis newspaper, The California Aggie. Because we are recording this episode almost exactly one year after the Pepper Spray Incident at UC Davis, we spend a considerable amount of time talking about the event one year on, the role of The Aggie in its coverage, and how each of us learned of the day from a great distance. In keeping with our interview series, we talk to Janelle about the history, utility and meanings of journalism in entertainment. We take up questions on the gendered portrayal of journalistic ethics, as well as the conspicuous role of journalism in comic books.
