After protesting for days, these beautiful, wonderful children finally improved the road conditions in our country, and even included an emergency lane something that we couldn't even fathom just last year. After doing so much for our people, which our government could not accomplish to this day, even though it is their ONLY job, all they demanded from the government was their support in regulating licenses and implementing basic road rules that we as humans, have a basic right to. Everything was finally looking great until groups were sent (including the police) to attack these beautiful selfless children. Is this their definition of justice? It seems that our people do not even have access to basic human rights let alone road safety. They are filtering all Bangladeshi Facebook posts and even stated that Facebook might be banned by tonight so that other countries and international platforms don't even get a whiff of how inhumanely things are being "handled". Warning to writers

While you are worrying about whether beta readers will steal your ideas, there is a more genuine threat on the horizon.

When offered a publishing contract, please do all your research before you sign. There are a number of fakes and scammers out there, as well as good-intentioned amateurs that don’t know how to get your work to a wide audience. I won’t tell the heartbreaking stories here - there are too many.

Being published badly is worse than being never published.

It can destroy your career and your dreams.

The quick check is to google the publishing house name + scam or warning.

But, to be sure, check with these places first. They aren’t infallible (nothing is) but they can help you protect yourself. They are written and maintained by expereinced writers, editors, publishers and legal folks.

I am deadly scared of the ocean. No, I'm not afraid of water in general; it's just the sea. I can soak in a swimming pool just fine. Artificial pools are okay, they are tame. I'm afraid of the wild ocean water; water that lives, breathes, howls at you and has a soul. I sound stupid, but that's what I've felt like everytime I've stood on a beach and soaked my toes in the cold water. These occassions were limited though. I've rarely been near the sea. I remember when I was a child, I'd ran into the ocean holding hands with my little sister and played "dodge the wave". I wasn't afraid of it then. I remember a very vivid dream I had when I was around 11 or 12; it was a disaster. A tsunami to be specific. I still remember every little detail of that dream, and it scares me even today. I don't just randomly remember frightening details of my life, these things ambush me out of nowhere. Like now for instance; I was by myself, listening to my music when these thoughts struck me. Okay, back to the dream; I saw myself lounging around at my cousin's house in my favorite spot reading a book. With my lanky legs resting on the left armrest and my back resting on the other one. I remember panic in my cousin's eyes as she urged me to climb up the stairs to the top floor. I dashed into the small bedroom to grab the little kids, but there was a woman protecting them there. I've never met this woman, I don't know her, but I remember her face. Is it humanly possible to dream up a new person? I don't think so. I can clearly picture her even today, in a faded old pink dress cradling my 6 year old cousin and shouting something at me. She looked like someone from a low-class society. Like a maid or someone.The last thing I remember is a huge wave moving towards me. It might not sound as scary as it feels. But it feels pretty real even today. And for the life of me, I cannot remember anything this person said to me; and now that I think about it, I don't remember hearing anything in that dream except the whooshing noise. I don't remember drowning either. I even remember my cousin wearing her favorite red sweater. I often have de ja vu dreams and I am always scared to see this coming true. Even though there is no way for it to come true. I'm not saying that a tsunami might not happen, I'm saying this scene might not come true. My cousins moved out from that house 6 years ago. My little cousin is now 14 years old and won't fit into her red sweater anymore. My favorite sofa is now in a different building in a different spot and not as comfortable as it used to be. I figured, I don't like wild things too much. Beautiful mysterious ponds don't allure me, they frighten me. I prefer having rules given to me and I like following them. I would rather book hotels and take two days to prepare before a trip than just get on a bus at 2am to be alone somewhere. I don't want luxury all the time. I just really like order and discipline around me, and it's ironic coming from me. I prefer swimming pools rather than the sea.
