Why must the unsolved murder documentary be so fascinating…
So all these ppl died in like the early 50s or so under similar circumstances and they are just now going “hey, maybe they’re linked!” Police are fucking useless damn
I mean, that’s a pretty common occurrence. They didn’t have the science or technology back then that we did in the 80’s, let alone what we have now. Besides that, from what I’ve heard, a lot of cops were also corrupt as fuck back then. Taking bribes from mobsters and whatnot.
Yeah, and they were also too busy trying to censor the general public to worry about actual serial killers. 🙄 Outta curiosity, though, what cases are you talking about in particular?
String of people found stuffed into the trunk of their own car on the sides of roads
Oh, yeah, I remember hearing about those cases when I was a kid. Scary stuff.
Are they just now piecing those cases together? They were poppin’ up back when I was still alive…
I know, right? Only took a few decades
Right. Decades. Doesn’t do much good now. The killer’s gotta be long gone.

“And that’s exactly why I need you - some ‘evil assholes need to burn’, as you put it.”
He groaned, dragging a hand down his face, though the grin tugging at the corner of his mouth betrayed him. “Of course you’d say that. The guy literally wreathed in fire wants to drag me to the spiciest place in town. You trying to see if you can set me ablaze from the inside out?”
Zacharias let out a small laugh, the first genuine one in a while, and shook his head. “Alright, alright, tamales it is. But I’m ordering a drink that can put out a forest fire, and you’re paying, remember? You made that deal.” The reporter gestured for him to lead on.
“You do realize you call me ‘son’… a lot, right?” His tone was light, almost casual, but there was a spark of amusement there. “I mean, I get it, Southern charm and all, but… do I get a say in this, or am I stuck with it forever?”
“It’s kind of… cute,” he added, tilting his head playfully. “In a terrifying, fire-wrapped-around-your-soul kind of way, but still… cute.” He let his gaze linger just a fraction longer than necessary, letting Ira notice without saying anything more. “Not that I’m complaining,” he added smoothly, tilting his head, “just… curious if it comes with any perks. Or is it purely honorary?”
Zach’s smirk widened just slightly as he shifted his weight. “Guess I should take it as a compliment…but… since you’ve been calling me ‘son’ all day,” Zach continued, a hint of mischief in his voice, “if we’re doing lunch, I might start calling you ‘daddy’ just to balance things out.” He chuckled, though the sparkle in his eye betrayed a sly curiosity, testing just how far he could push this banter without igniting Ira’s legendary temper. Even as he teased, his voice was easy, calm, almost conversational—like he was testing the waters, gauging Ira’s reaction, letting a little charm slip through without forcing the moment.
The reporter had a reputation that extended far beyond his bylines. In interviews, whether with heroes basking in the glow of public adoration or villains dripping with menace, he had a knack for turning every conversation into a subtle game. A raised eyebrow here, a well-placed compliment there, a playful quip just sharp enough to make even the most stoic super-powered figures pause—he wielded charm like a weapon as effortlessly as his pen. Some walked away flustered, others intrigued, but almost all found themselves slightly disarmed, unable to tell if his interest was professional or personal. Zach thrived on that ambiguity, the delicate tension of flirtation woven into the pursuit of a story, always keeping his subjects just off balance enough to say more than they intended—while keeping himself just charming enough to be forgiven for it.
“Nothin’ ventured, nothin’ gained,” he teased again, grinning victoriously when the younger man agreed to try one of his suggestions. “Honestly, though, the tamales ain’t that spicy. They have a little bit of a kick if you’re not used to ‘em, but they’re more savory than anything. Their homemade salsas on the other hand…” Nine different sauces, all varying in flavor and heat, all made by the restaurant’s owner with fresh ingredients. Ira was practically addicted to the stuff. His mouth was nearly watering just thinking about it!
Zach’s comments about the nickname made him falter, though. “It’s a force of habit, sorry. Don’t even realize I’m doin’ it half the time,” he quickly defended, “but I’ll try to stop if you want me to. Almost everyone I talk to is younger than me. Even the elderly folks. ‘S what happens when a guy born in the Roarin’ Twenties becomes immortal, I guess.” His one-hundredth birthday was coming up next St. Patrick’s Day, and he couldn’t help but feel a small bit of existential dread every time he thought about it, which made it even more jarring on the rare occasion that someone called him ‘cute’.
Like right now.
The heat that started creeping up the back of his neck as Zach continued to hit on him was not in fact hellfire, but a slowly reddening blush. He tried to ignore it; flirting with clients was not something he was keen on, mostly because he wasn’t entirely sure what people saw in him in that regard. He was a monster who hunted monsters, not Prince Charming, not some dashing rogue. The word ‘daddy’ made him stop in his tracks, eyes narrowing. Evidently, it was time to clear a few things up. When he turned to look at the reporter again, he wasn’t angry, but all of the previous humor had left his expression. “Look, I’m sorry if I gave you the wrong impression earlier. That wasn’t my intention. I’m not entirely comfortable with strangers sayin’ stuff like that to or about me. It’s…complicated, but I don’t like flirtin’ with people I don’t know. That pokin’ fun I was doin’ earlier was meant casually. Platonic, I think, is the word?” It had taken him far too long to learn to set boundaries like that, and it still made him nervous. Years of not being in a position to say ‘no’ could do that to a person. The warmth of the Spirit brushed up against his mind again, almost like it was gently taking his hand, which started to clench unconsciously at his side.

“And that’s exactly why I need you - some ‘evil assholes need to burn’, as you put it.”
Ira turned upon hearing his own words thrown back at him so casually. The quote, an off-handed comment he’d made to get either the Star Spangled Pretty Boy or the Metal Head Millionaire off his case about joining their little Boy Scout troop, had been misused by just about every tabloid under the sun. This instance was only unique in that the reporter had said it directly to his face rather than writing it in an article about the illustrious Ghost Rider. “Do you even know what you’re sayin’, son?” he drawled, a low and incredulous laugh rumbling from his throat. “Or who you’re sayin’ it to? I might look like a thug, granted, but I ain’t no two-bit mercenary.” He was judgment incarnate. The Spirit of Vengeance. Had been for far too long.
Still, the young man’s previous statement struck a chord with him. ‘I need you.’ For what, exactly? There was a certain sense of desperation in that sentence that he couldn’t ignore. “What exactly do you need my help with? What threat are you so anxious to eliminate that you resorted to askin’ me, of all the super-powered freaks in the world?” There was no need to mince words. No sugarcoating what he did to those whose souls were wicked enough to be coveted by his master. It didn’t mean that he wasn’t concerned. “Are you…alright? Has this person harmed you in any way?”
Zacharias Smith shifted slightly, keeping his hands loose at his sides, not wanting to make any sudden moves that might trigger the Ghost Rider’s wrath. His usual smirk was tempered by a flicker of seriousness—the situation wasn’t a joke. “Well…uh,” he began, scratching the back of his neck. “Let’s just say, this one’s a little…persistent. Thinks they can get away with a lot more than they actually can.” He met Ira’s intense gaze and gave a small shrug, trying to downplay it but knowing full well how little that mattered here.
“You’re…you know, terrifying to look at up close,” Zacharias admitted, a nervous edge in his tone. “But that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? You handle the stuff that…well, normal people like me can’t. And yeah, they’ve done some stuff. Enough that, honestly, I wouldn’t put it past them to…well, I’d rather not imagine the worst.”
He took a careful step closer, lowering his voice just slightly. “I didn’t come here for a lecture, though, so let’s cut to it—I need you because they’re not just a problem for me. They’re a problem for…a lot of people. And honestly? If anyone can make them think twice, it’s you. You make the kind of people who think they’re untouchable…very, very touchable.”
Zacharias straightened, letting a hint of that trademark bravado return, though it didn’t mask the tension entirely. “So, are we doing this…or are you just gonna stare at me like some grim statue of vengeance all day?”
There were times when Ira regretted the fearsome persona that he’d built up over the years. When he missed being the charming free spirit he’d gradually lost throughout his mortal years. He didn’t intend to scare most people, but gaining a reputation as the Ghost Rider had made him more and more of an intimidating figure as time went on. His weary gaze softened ever so slightly as he listened to the young man prattle on about someone who thought themself above all boundaries. “Yeah, I know the type,” he replied, recalling far too many people from his past who fit that description. “Wants what they want, don’t give a damn about the cost.”
It was bad enough that this person had become such a dire issue for Zach himself, but the fact that they’d apparently endangered a lot of others was ringing even more alarm bells in Ira’s head. He turned to face Zach properly, making an effort to seem more open and less frightening. “Look, son, you don’t have to be careful about your words, or leave out certain ‘sensitive’ details. In fact, I’d prefer that you didn’t. If I’m gonna help you, I need to know what I’m dealin’ with. What you’re dealin’ with. You have no need to be afraid of me; if you were a soul worth burning, I would’ve done it by now.” Perhaps that last bit was counterintuitive to say to someone he was actively trying not to terrify, but it was true. The Spirit of Vengeance had a will of its own, and could sense evil in a soul. It acted as an extension of Ira’s own intuition, and he listened to it keenly.
Zach’s last remark and that returning hint of a smirk was what finally broke Ira’s intense façade. The older man grinned, clearly amused by the barb. “I s’pose I do come off a little stony, don’t I? Sorry, I don’t get a lot of folks voluntarily seekin’ out my company. Not anymore. We can talk more over lunch, if that’ll put you more at ease. My treat.” In that moment, more than a hint of the youth he’d been granted eternally finally shown through. He looked less like a grizzled vigilante and more like the rambunctious twenty-something he’d been when he’d first accepted the Spirit’s deal.
The reporter blinked at the offer, half-expecting fire and brimstone instead of something as mundane—and oddly human—as lunch. He gave a small huff of disbelief that melted into a smirk. “Lunch? Didn’t think Ghost Rider did casual dining. Do you even eat? Or is this one of those ‘watch me burn through a cheeseburger’ kinda moments?”
Still, he relaxed a little. Ira’s tone, the way he’d eased out of that fearsome stance—it helped. Zach pocketed his hands, studying the man in front of him like one might examine a loaded weapon that suddenly started cracking jokes. “Alright. If it gets me more answers, I’ll take you up on it. But fair warning—if this turns into some kind of redemption talk or cryptic soul-lesson, I’m walking out.”
There was still that nervous energy in him, though, the kind that came from knowing he was in the company of something far older and more powerful than anything he could fully comprehend. “You’re right, though,” Zach admitted after a pause. “They don’t care about cost. They take what they want—people, power, influence—and leave a mess behind. They’ve been using others like pieces on a board, and every time someone tries to stand up to them, they disappear.”
His gaze flickered up, catching Ira’s faint glow with quiet determination. “I can’t just watch anymore. Maybe I can’t fight them head-on, but you can. And if there’s even a chance that what you do can stop them…then I’m in.”
He glanced aside, lips quirking. “But I’m still picking the place. You might be vengeance incarnate, but I’m not letting you drag me to some haunted diner that serves ghost chili or whatever the hell you eat.”
Oh, good, he’d finally managed to get this stranger to stop looking at him like a frightened cat, and now the guy was being cheeky. Ira smirked and let out a deep chuckle, tickled by the cheeseburger comment. “Y’know, I haven’t actually tried that yet. Kinda makes me wanna try, just to see if it would work.” It wouldn’t. Burgers didn’t have souls, and even if they did and were wicked enough for his fire to burn them, they would be fed directly to his undoubtedly very confused master, not consumed by him. “To answer your question, yeah, I still eat actual food. Probably not as healthy as I should, but hey, all I gotta worry about in that regard is makin’ sure I got fuel in the tank, so to speak.” Everyone needed energy to function. Was he going to verbally admit how much of that energy came from greasy fast food and Monster? Not a chance.
Zach’s terms earned a nod and a wry smile. “Nah, I don’t do that evangelical shit. Ain’t my place to preach at people, and the folks I’m called to retrieve ain’t generally the sort to listen to preachin’, anyway. Besides that, I’d be a hypocrite if I did try to pull all that ‘Holier Than Thou’ redemption nonsense. Didn’t become Ghost Rider by actin’ like a saint.” He’d rather not get into that right now, though he did feel the Spirit brush up against his consciousness almost reassuringly. “Whatever you get up to ain’t enough to warrant you bein’ on Big Red’s menu, so I wouldn’t worry about judgment. Especially if you care enough about other people send a boogeyman to take whoever’s hurtin’ ‘em. Tells me more about you than any rules you do or don’t follow.” The pensive, committed look that hardened the other’s gaze further sealed Ira’s opinion of him. This was a man who meant what he said: that he was done letting whomever this villain was walk all over him and the people around him. Ira found that admirable. Brave, even.
The serious turn of the conversation quickly pivoted back to levity as Zach mentioned choosing which establishment they would eat at. Ira’s grin returned in full force, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “What’s the matter, son? Can’t handle a little southern heat?” He couldn’t resist teasing the poor man now that the subject of spice tolerance had been brought up. “Nothin’ haunted, but I know of a little mom and pop Mexican joint that makes tamales that are to die for! And there’s a taco place downtown that has some of the best food known to man. I don’t usually go for gourmet shit, but everything on their menu is mouthwaterin’.” Talk of food was already making him hungry, and more than a little excited, which of course drew an amused chuckle from the Spirit in the back of his mind.

"What is this, The Craft? Are you gonna make Skeet Ulrich fall deliriously in love with you?"
𝕎𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒 𝕙𝕠𝕣𝕣𝕠𝕣 𝕞𝕠𝕧𝕚𝕖 𝕤𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕖 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤
"Why was Skeet Ulrich so unreasonably hot in this movie? Like I know the character's a total creep, but still..."
"Gotta love the Scream Queen!"
"No, don't go out there!"
"You're in a garage full of weapons, you idiot! Grab one and use it!"
"Shit, nice takedown!"
"The final girl/guy/survivor in this one is such a badass!"
"Ah, yes, the obligatory tittie shot."
"Jeez, this movie is so predictable..."
"Old school and hokey with mostly practical effects, just the way I like 'em!"
"I've seen this one a million times!"
"Please don't ruin this for me."
"Ah, nope! I-I can't watch this part..."
"Aw, don't tell me you're scared!"
"Are you too scared? We can turn it off, if you want."
"Hold me! Please!"
"I got you. It's okay. Just a movie."
"I like to play detective, try and solve the mysteries before the big reveal. Keeps me from getting scared."
"Could you stay over tonight? That movie really freaked me out."
"That is definitely not how that wound would bleed!"
"Why do you like this gruesome shit so much!?"
"Okay, that is seriously twisted!"
"How the fuck is that person still alive?!"

What’s their favorite Halloween memory from childhood?
Did they have a tradition of picking out pumpkins, going to parties, or telling scary stories?
Were they shy, daring, or mischievous as a kid during Halloween?
Have they ever had a costume disaster or a funny trick-or-treat moment?
Halloween Questions! | @runyou-clever-boy
1. His favorite Halloween memory is a little bittersweet, actually. The year before his father left to go fight in WW2, he spent a lot of time trying to get to know Ira. Asking questions about school, taking him fishing (that went about as swimmingly as you’d expect…), learning about his interests, reading some of his favorite books. Most of them were horror novels, so come October, he had a rather brilliant idea: turn their house into a haunted mansion themed around stories like Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. When Ira came home from school on the 31st, he was shocked to find the house fully decked out, but even more so when the Headless Horseman figure on the porch laughed menacingly, revealing himself to be none other than Henry Wheeler. Cora came outside clearly stressed but excited, and told Ira that she’d already laid out his costume and invited all of his classmates over for a night of scares and sweet treats! It was the most fun Halloween he’d ever had, and the last one he’d ever truly enjoyed.
2. Ira has always loved telling scary stories, but he doesn’t only do it on Halloween.
3. As a kid? A mix of daring and mischievous. He was always getting into trouble trying to scare his friends. Much less so as an adult, mainly because he was on the road all the time and mostly in survival mode. As a ghost, he’s slowly been regrowing his mischievous streak, however.
4. Not really…? I mean, he’s accidentally scared the hell out of a few trick-or-treaters and/or parents who could see ghosts, but I don’t think that counts.

You know what they are? They are replicas of our body parts.
You can't kill something that's already dead.
I wonder if losing one's face deranges one's senses.
You have become the soul of a monster, rotten to the core.
I feel as if I've been buried alive.
The monster is always to blame, what a convenient stereotype.
I'm prepared to replace any body part at any time.
Everything's the monster fault.
I've grown used to the light, or maybe I've given up fighting it.
What good will revenge do?
There are monsters who act like people, & people who act like monsters.
Isn't humility better than vanity?
Even monsters have their own pleasures.
You can't perform such a visionary experiment on anyone!
We're violating a cardinal rule of humanity.

Have you ever seen wounds like this before?
There was blood everywhere, lots of it..
The devil made them do it, they said.
People like to think a crime has some meaning, but most of them don't.
Would a person do something like that because the devil made them do it?
Listen, you don't think it might be some kind of hypnosis, do you?
Why would someone do that, for the thrill?
All horrible things that used to be inside of me, now they are all outside..
What's wrong? Your hands are shaking.
Neither one is the real you, there is no real you.
The first man to study hypnosis, it wasn't recognised as a medical treatment. They saw it as magic... or a witchcraft.
Soul conjuring, like clairvoyance, spiritualism .. that sort of things.
Anyone who wants to meet their true selves is bound to come here.
It's fate. This is the end for you.
Do you remember everything now?

What's wrong with telling the truth?
Excuse me, have you seen this child before?
The place might be old, but I doubt that there's something sinister in it.
I've heard that [name] has been behaving strangely. [She/he/they] talks to [herself/himself/themselves] a lot.
Apparently there was a child disappeared couple years ago in here.
Do you know that you wandering around at night, like you were sleepwalking?
Hello? Please open up! [name], are you in there!?
The family of the child that disappeared, how long ago did they leave?
What about the footsteps I heard, can you explain that!?
Maybe it's part of some superstition..
Right over there, there was someone standing over there...
It was just for an instant, but I saw something!
I'll never leave you alone again, It's going to be all right!
You musn't come any closer! Go away!
Do you remember when I said that as long as I am with you, nothing bad would ever happen to you? I'm sorry.
