I don't want Kylo brainwashed, I want him the villain foil to Finn and Rey, who have terrible backstories and choose to be kind and brave anyway; he should be the guy who had everything and just chucked it away.
I was going to make a flippant response and leave it at that, but given that I have a bunch of new followers who don’t know me, I’d like to make my position exactly clear.
I’m not interested in rhetoric about the morally pure elect who make the right choices regardless of personal history vs bad seeds who have it easy/let themselves be shaped by circumstances. It’s a reductionist, stale, easy answer to complex questions about morality and human psychology. I find it an incredibly boring route in any narrative, and a particularly boring route in a story so caught up in questions about the tension between the forces that shape people, innate nature, and moral agency.
I like Finn, I love Rey, and I hope they walk hand-in-hand into the binary sunset together. There is a place in my heart for lovely people who bear up under strain and hold fast to the integrity of their personalities. I admire it irl, because it does take real work.
But there’s also a certain amount of basic advantage to it. Some people are just less susceptible than others. Nobody’s invulnerable, but some people are psychologically tougher, better able to bounce back and to persevere in the face of adversity, even without support to fall back on. That’s great! But to an extent, it’s also lucky. It’s not just a matter of some people choosing to be good and kind and some people throwing their opportunities away.
Some people break. I’ve spent my life working with people who snapped under pressure–sometimes very obvious pressures (creepy sex cult!) and sometimes not (bad teacher!). I’ve snapped under pressure myself, when on paper I had it all. And realizing that it’s not just contemptible moral failure when other people can deal with things that you couldn’t, when other people don’t make the mistakes you did–while acknowledging that they are mistakes–that’s tremendously important.
And this kind of rhetoric goes on all the time. Somebody else has your problem and they’re doing fine, why aren’t you? Or somebody else has a problem that has approximately nothing in common with your problem, but is sort of vaguely related, and their life is worse, why are you complaining? It’s harmful. Hell, it’s harmful to people who are involved in Star Wars.
So whatever Kylo Ren’s story turns out to be–and I’ll take a wild guess that the guy cosplaying as his dead grandfather and begging his forgiveness for not being evil enough is perhaps not entirely mentally stable–if I never again hear “[x] overcame their tragic past so what does [y] have to complain about,” it’ll be too soon.

If he didn’t love his fans, he wouldn’t have bowed his head in apology. It’s been exactly a year since the day this photo was taken, and there’s still a feeling of heartache for him when seeing it.
Hope that no one would ever have to bow their heads in apology again for an occasion that should be one of the happiest in their lives.
i think the only reason why i felt negatively towards his marriage was because i didn’t want things to change. and marriage is such a huge change. will he stay? will i still be able to see the sungmin i’ve looked up to for years after this? will the members treat him differently? will he become more of an outcast because of this? ah. i hated thinking about it so i didn’t think of it at all. and then one day i gathered the courage to see what he looked like with her... and i cried but i cried because i was happy. now i look up to him even more, because it takes courage to take that kind of step, to willingly face that kind of change. to me, he really is an idol!

He doesn´t want to worry his brother and both Claire and Owen is busy trying to like - not die. But the pain is getting worse and it´s harder to hide the bleeding, and he feels so so dizzy. He just needs to wait for everything to calm down. He can do that. He can. He totally can. He can´t.

--> I wouldn't have read this one if it weren't for the Zach&Echo tag but I'm glad I did! It was written really well and I love how the relationship between Zach and Owen isn't forced or rushed. Definitely looking forward for the next chapters for this one.

Owen knew he was screwed. No, he knew he was about to screw things up. There was no way he wasn't going to screw things up.
Thunder screamed again, before heavy rain started pouring down like there was no tomorrow. Owen cursed and laid his head back against the wall behind him.
He was trapped in the middle of a forest in the northern area of Isla Nublar. There was an I-Rex and Velociraptors on the loose. And an injured, nearly in heat, omega was sitting beside him. To make matters worse, the omega was only a teenager and Claire Dearing's nephew - Zach Mitchell.
Owen felt his alpha side roar at the light, sweet scent coming from the boy beside him. It took all his might to keep from moving closer to the poor kid. Owen tried to reason with himself, no, with his alpha instincts, that Zach was injured, barely conscious, and he was just a kid.
Like those Velociraptors, his alpha instincts snapped its jaw at him and protested.
--> Another guilty pleasure. Both the story and writing are awesome enough to keep me reading despite my reservations on the pairing. I can't stay away from angsty!Zach and this one has it. With Owen going protective and an injured!Zach in the latest chapter, I am so sold on this one.
