Not about poetry, but about the photographs for the first edition of "Messer" in 2003. Thirty-nine-year-old Till, friend and concert lighting designer Gert Hooft, and renowned photographer Jens Retsch visited a mannequin factory and experimented with plastic dolls.

"The interpretation is completely free in the context of the poem/photography and vice versa. It's a very interesting experiment—to see how the perception of poems changes through photographs, and what different variations are possible. There's no direct correspondence between the two art forms, but if desired, a small dialogue can be established." (Sonic Seducer - Interview with Till, February 2003.)

"Many of the photographs have never been published." Some of them bordered on pedophilia, so if we'd shown them publicly, it would probably have backfired. The publisher certainly wouldn't have approved; it would definitely have been censored. However, in the end, the book had too many illustrations, and they distracted from the text." (Metal Hammer)

"Well, the cheerfulness… no one would have bought it from me anyway. And I just have nothing to say about it."

Upon launching a solo career outside of Rammstein, Till found himself at the center of media attention. It is hardly surprising that he no longer wishes to give interviews about his work or explain the meaning of his lyrics and other artistic concepts. Much about this photoshoot might be repulsive, but is art meant solely to "please the eye"?
