It genuinely fascinates me that Elriel is still up for debate in some corners of the fandom.

Like… are we reading the same books?

Are we looking at the official merch? The repeated imagery? The interviews? The hints Sarah has been dropping for years? The language she chooses? The scenes she deliberately writes?

You don’t have to ship Elriel, of course. Everyone is free to enjoy whatever dynamic they love. But acting as though the possibility came out of nowhere has always baffled me.

At this point I’m just asking: are you guys paying attention at all?

If you think for even a second Gwyn would harm Elain for any reason, under any circumstances then you fundamentally misunderstood Gwyn’s character. Even if “Evil Elain” ever happened it would have absolutely nothing to do with Gwyn. She wouldn’t be involved in any capacity.

Second if Gwyn so much as thought about harming Elain (for any reason) the entirety of the Inner Circle INCLUDING Nesta would intervene. Nesta has literally threatened to kill people for Elain, you think she’ll just be fine with her new friend harming her sister? Azriel was ready to go after Nesta for hurting Elain’s feelings (after he met his so called mate btw) He would absolutely take out anyone who threatened Elain. Rhys, Feyre, Mor, Amren, Cassian not one of them would be ok with Elain getting harmed in any capacity. Go reread the books.

Lastly Elain is not a fighter but she is not helpless and literally killed one of the most powerful characters in the series. Not by being a warrior or fighting but by using her powers and outsmarting her enemy. A pair of earbuds plus training her Seer abilities and there is no way anyone is catching Elain Archeron off guard, but nice try.

either SJM is a fated mates author and therefore e/ucien is the predictable outcome or elriel is the predictable outcome and SJM isn’t a fated mates author.

She said "yea my 'mate' might be here but I didn't get him anything because I genuinely want nothing to do with him but I did get you a very funny gift that you will probably need and wow, look at that, you have a gift for me too! "Elain Archeron is Flawless"....

Said no Elriel fan ever. We're very much aware of her flaws, and that's why we relate to her. She makes mistakes, hides from her problems, avoids confrontation, and is a people pleaser. We know all of this and still love her and defend her fiercely against a fandom that decided she's worthless. They hate her and berate her constantly, all because she doesn't want a certain male and wants to be with another.

There's not a single comment section on Elain positive or Elriel posts that doesn't have at least one comment from shippers of other pairings commenting how much they hate her, how she is useless, boring, stupid, and deserves only the worse men in the series, the abusers, the evil ones. They have collectively decided that what she wants, and needs is not important, because all that matters is that the males in her story get what they want.

Well to all of you I say scr@w you! Because Elain Archeron's time is coming and she's going to get everything you all want to deny her. Her freedom, her choice, her power, and her love.

And those of us who know and love her character arc will be celebrating her.
