no matter which way you twist and spin it, it is an infinitely more powerful story to show elain breaking her unwanted mating bond, ergo opening the path for ALL women in unwanted mating bonds to free themselves, than it would be for her to just… cave in to some guy she doesn’t even like, who actively makes her uncomfortable and lose her shine, all because he’s her “mate.”

it’s genuinely that simple. one of these stories empowers women in prythian, and the other subjugates them for eternity. and frankly, you’d have to be willfully ignorant to think SJM is going to take the latter when all of her stories have always been about female empowerment.

But what do you mean? I think BOTH ladies are baddies in their own right but genuinly what has Gwyn done that makes her “more” of a baddie then Elain?

*Elain literally killed the king of Hybern (the big bad guy of the books so far) with no training. Saved Nesta and Cassians life. Also in Hofas it talks about how truth teller and the star swords power needs to be activated… yet somehow Elain was able to “step out of shadow” and use Tt. So this means Elain was able to activate it.

*Elain was kidnapped and bound by Hybern and still held it together. Feyre even talks about how she was suprised when she gets to hyberns camp and Elain is fine and not freaking out. Not only does she hold herself together she also helps save Briar… She fights Hybern hounds with her bare feet.

*Elain is also the one who put them on to Vassa, Koschei, The ravens ect. People act like just because Elains power is mental whereas Feyre and Nestas is more physical that her power is somehow “weaker” and that’s not true.

People forget Gwyn started out Acosf as a house bound priestess. Nesta never even touched a weapon before Acosf. Emerie had no training and just worked in her store. And look at how much they grew in 1 book and what they became. Obviously when we get Elains books we will learn more about her, she will have her own growth and her own power arc.

I’m so tired of people acting like because Elain is introverted and likes soft things she’s somehow “weaker”. A FMC can enjoy gardening and baking and still kill an evil king. She can enjoy relaxing out side and be more introverted and still fight off beasts to protect the people she loves. Elain proves all of this already and we haven’t even had her book yet.
