Grown women when you tell them Tamlin not being able to communicate his emotions properly isn't an excuse for DA:
Random page from Azriel Shadowsinger's diary
Day 174.
I do not own this image.🖤
Day 1 in the Feyre Week: “High Lady” ✨
I’ve been wanting to redo my high lady version for a while now; the last time was in 2024 and my style has changed so much!
I wanted to do a full render, but unfortunately, time wasn’t on my side. Maybe I’ll render it later. Even so, I hope you like it 💖
lainey:
Time to revisit some iconic Elriel moments. 🩷💙
And I think Elain—Elain would like it, too. Though she’d probably cling to Azriel, just to have some peace and quiet. I smiled at the thought—at how handsome they would be together.
and Elain, noticing Azriel’s ease as proof that things weren’t indeed about to go badly, offered one of her own as well.
Azriel arrived first, no shadows to be seen, my sister a pale, golden mass in his arms. He, too, wore his Illyrian armor, Elain’s golden-brown hair snagging in some of the black scales across his chest and shoulders.
He set her down gently on the foyer carpet, having carried her in through the front door. Elain peered up at his patient, solemn face. Azriel smiled faintly. “Would you like me to show you the garden?” She seemed so small before him, so fragile compared to the scales of his fighting leathers, the breadth of his shoulders. The wings peeking over them. But Elain did not balk from him, did not shy away as she nodded—just once. Azriel, graceful as any courtier, offered her an arm. I couldn’t tell if she was looking at his blue Siphon or at his scarred skin beneath as she breathed, “Beautiful.” Color bloomed high on Azriel’s golden-brown cheeks, but he inclined his head in thanks and led my sister toward the back doors into the garden, sunlight bathing them.
It made sense, I supposed, that Azriel alone had listened to her. The male who heard things others could not … Perhaps he, too, had suffered as Elain had before he understood what gift he possessed.
From the shadows near the entrance to the tent, Azriel said, as if in answer to some unspoken debate, “I’m getting her back.” Nesta slid her gaze to the shadowsinger. Azriel’s hazel eyes glowed golden in the shadows.Nesta said, “Then you will die.” Azriel only repeated, rage glazing that stare, “I’m getting her back.”
Rhys lunged for Azriel, taking Elain from him and gently setting my sister down. Azriel rasped, swaying on his feet, “We need Helion to get these chains off her.” Yet Elain didn’t seem to notice them as she rose up on her toes and kissed the shadowsinger’s cheek
The lovely fawn, blooming spring vibrant behind her. Standing before Death, shadows and terrors lurking over his shoulder. Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two.
But I strode to my seat—nestled between Amren and Mor—in time to see Elain say to Azriel, “Hello.” Az said nothing. No, he just moved toward her. Mor tensed beside me. But Azriel only took Elain’s heavy dish of potatoes from her hands, his voice soft as night as he said, “Sit. I’ll take care of it.”
I found Elain studying it, beautiful in her amethyst-colored gown. I made to move toward her, but someone beat me to it. The shadowsinger was clad in a black jacket and pants similar to Rhysand’s—the fabric immaculately tailored and built to fit his wings. He still wore his Siphons atop either hand, and shadows trailed his footsteps, curling like swirled embers, but there was little sign of the warrior otherwise. Especially as he gently said to my sister, “Happy Solstice.” Elain turned from the snow falling in the darkness beyond and smiled slightly. “I’ve never participated in one of these.”
Elain bit her lip and then smiled sheepishly. “It’s for the headaches everyone always gives you. Since you rub your temples so often.” Silence again. Then Azriel tipped his head back and laughed. I’d never heard such a sound, deep and joyous. Cassian and Rhys joined him, the former grabbing the glass bottle from Azriel’s hand and examining it. “Brilliant,” Cassian said. Elain smiled again, ducking her head. Azriel mastered himself enough to say, “Thank you.” I’d never seen his hazel eyes so bright, the hues of green amid the brown and gray like veins of emerald. “This will be invaluable.”
Azriel and Elain remained in the sitting room, my sister showing him the plans she’d sketched to expand the garden in the back of the town house, using the seeds and tools my family had given her tonight.
“Because of the shit with Elain?” Azriel stilled. “What happened to Elain?” Cassian waved a hand. “A fight with Nesta. Don’t bring it up,” he warned when Azriel’s eyes darkened.
“Eyes can be blinded,” Nesta said. “Not the ones under my command,” Azriel said with soft menace. Nesta met his stare, knowing he was the only one aside from Feyre who could truly understand her hesitation. He’d gone with Feyre into the heart of Hybern’s camp to save Elain—he knew the risk.
Elain just linked her arm through Nesta’s and led her toward the family room, where Azriel stood in the doorway, monitoring them. As if he’d heard Elain’s sharp laugh and wondered what had caused it. “I was just checking on dessert,” Elain explained as they approached the doorway and Azriel. Nesta met the shadowsinger’s stare and he gave her a nod. Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them. Elain’s breath caught slightly, and she gave him a shallow nod of greeting before brushing past, leading Nesta into the room.
Shadows darkened his eyes, full of enough pain that she couldn’t stop herself from touching his shoulder. Letting him see that she understood why he stood in the doorway, why he wouldn’t go near the fire. His secret to tell, never hers.

"Azriel arrived first, no shadows to be seen, my sister a pale, golden mass in his arms. He, too, wore his Illyrian armor, Elain's golden-brown hair snagging in some of the black scales across his chest and shoulders."
"The gray light of morning had broken over the world, mist clinging to our ankles as we headed into that camp, Azriel still cradling Elain to his chest."
The Elriel tag consists of:
30% disproving antis' stupid ass """""theories"""""" because they pull stuff out their ass all the time and they need constant refreshers of the books
30% Elain love
30% Elriel fanart
and 10% making fun of your ass, not Gw/n's lmfao.
Anyway 🩷💙
1. You cannot compare Feysand to Elucien. That’s embarrassing. Feyre was always attracted to Rhysand and was captivated by him from the moment she first saw him. She never hated Rhysand. She was never uninterested in Rhysand. She was never uncomfortable around Rhysand. There was a pull from the very beginning between them. And Rhysand didn’t even tell her that she was his mate in case she didn’t reciprocate his feelings (she did). Their HEA was organic, never forced. Nothing should be forced like Elucien was. If you think romanticizing forced marriage is okay, then I’m also going to assume you’re all for Haunting Adeline becoming a movie.
2. Elain loses her boldness around Lucien. This is canon. Elain doesn’t want to be in the same room as him. This is canon. Elain would rather watch a kettle on the stove than speak to Lucien. This is canon. Lucien said he couldn’t stand to be in the same room with Elain for more than two seconds. This is canon. Feyre said being in the same room with Elain and Lucien was the most uncomfortable thirty minutes she could recall. This is canon. Elain says that Lucien isn’t entitled to her affections just because he’s forced upon her. This is canon. Elain has never gotten Lucien a gift. This is canon. Elain didn’t like that Lucien got her a gift. This is canon. Lucien wanted to force Elain back the second Mor brought her to safety. This is canon. Lucien compared Elain to his dead ex and said that Elain was thrown at him and is nothing like Jessiminda who he loved. This is canon. Lucien wanted to see Elain just once to know if she is worth fighting for. This is canon. Elain has to be forced by Feyre to ask Lucien any questions because she doesn’t want to speak to him on her own. This is canon. Elain has feelings for someone else who is not Lucien. This is canon.
3. If you ship Elucien you ship forced marriage where the FMC has no choice of her own. You ship the FMC and MMC feeling uncomfortable in each others company. You ship the FMC losing her happiness just for the MMC’s benefit of not going insane. You ship unwanted conversations and a miserable life for the FMC. There is no choice when it comes to Elucien because they have been forced upon each other from the get go. You could say all you want that Elain could suddenly like Lucien and “choose” him but what kind of story would that tell? What would that show readers? That the woman should settle for the man who was forced upon her when she’s spent four books already uncomfortable around him. Not wanting him.
4. If you truly don’t understand why Elain gave the necklace back to Azriel, then that is an issue. Elain who said that the necklace is beautiful and for Azriel to put it on her. For Azriel to then put it on her and want to go to town and her wanting that too. And right before they were about to smash, Rhysand shows up (the outside force) to tell Azriel to stop and get to his office. Then, Azriel (not wanting to disobey Rhys since he has just been caught and can’t exactly smash in front of Rhys) forces himself to tell Elain that it was a mistake. Now, you must think that Azriel actually thought it was a mistake. WRONGO. This is called miscommunication. A very popular theme in romance novels. Azriel clearly didn’t think that kissing Elain was a mistake (I.E. his previous thoughts before Rhys showed up) but he had to say that. It makes for the miscommunication trope to shine so that it could be resolved at a later date. There is something also called the “fuck it” moment in romance novels. That usually comes after miscommunication. So with Elain feeling rejected and sad and confused, what does she do? She takes off the necklace later that night and places it back where the gifts are because Azriel told her “It was a mistake” when he didn’t even mean it. When he had to force himself to do so.
5. No, you do not need a man to have a healing journey. In fact, Nesta’s healing journey didn’t include Cassian. Was he there? Sure. But guess who healed on her own? Nesta. He brought some support. But it wasn’t because of Cassian that Nesta healed. That would actually be a little on the unhealthy side if Nesta’s healing journey was revolved around someone other than herself. Think of it as Cassian held her hand all the way through, but Nesta did all the work herself. Same goes for Feyre. Rhysand is not responsible for Feyre healing. Again, was he there? Yes. But who was the one who did what she had to do to heal all by herself? Feyre. Rhys just held her hand. We do not believe at all that Azriel will be the reason for Elain’s healing. We recognize that he understands her and see’s her unlike anyone else. Just like Cassian see’s Nesta and Rhysand see’s Feyre. But Elain will be the one to heal herself on her own just as her sisters did. This series is about the females. Not the males. As the author said herself that the males take a backseat.
6. Elain’s journey is tied to Koschei and freeing Vassa. She’s had the visions, she even (most likely) hears Koschei’s soul in the stone. Who does Koschei also have his eyes on? Azriel. Who’s been reading up on the queens and doing the reports? Azriel. Elain is also tied to the prison. Lucien is tied to freeing Vassa.
As for Elain not being fit for the Night Court, I’m pretty sure she enjoys her home in Velaris perfectly fine in canon. She loves helping the faeries with their gardens and she loves spending time with her friends, Nuala and Cerridwen. She even smells like Velaris.
7. Saying that “these are just fictional characters” is not a great way to look at things considering that even though you are reading a fiction book right now, there are real people who have similar experiences as these characters. How you write your characters is important. You need to write them with respect and think of the consequences if you don’t. There are certain things where you shouldn’t seperate fiction from reality. Media influences people and if you are an author, you should really think about the messages that you want to be had in your writing. When SJM talks in her interviews about her FMC having free will and that there is a choice and that no one should be forced upon someone, that is a message. And it’s a really great one.
8. There’s a difference between having the MMC be the focus of the FMC’s journey and having the FMC be the center point of her own journey with the MMC holding her hand all the way through. Elriels do not put Azriel in the center of anything. He is not the focus here. Elain’s journey is her journey. Just as Nesta’s was her’s and Feyre’s was her’s. You needed a book to be centered on Azriel in order for Gwyn to get her pov. That is not exactly having the FMC and MMC in an equal playing field.
Not everything is fated mates. Not everything should be about fated mates. And no, this isn’t a fated mates series when the author is talking about free will and choosing your own destiny instead of the one that is unwanted and forced upon you. There are different stories to be told. Different storylines. Not every character or couple is going to be the same.
9. Elriel has a ton of conflict to overcome. There’s the miscommunication, Rhys’ orders because of needed allyship with the Autumn court and Elain’s unwanted mating bond with Lucien.
10. No one, and I mean NO ONE. Thinks that a sexual assault survivor getting a healing journey and falling in love is icky. That’s fucking disgusting and to even say something like that is terrible and out of line. I don’t even know how to comprehend that statement. I cannot in any capacity understand how someone would even think that. There are so many characters who unfortunately dealt with SA and who have had incredible healing journey’s and found love along the way. Hannah Wells, Rhysand, Nesta Archeron, Jules Ambrose, Summer Hamilton, Bree Prescott ETC. There is no way that someone actually thinks that reading a story about an SA survivor getting their happily ever after is “icky”. That’s fucked up. Beyond fucked up.
“Elain smiled, her braid swishing with each step toward the growing mound of food. “They taste as good as they look.” She set down the tray and wiped her flour-coated hands on the apron she wore over her dusty-pink gown. Even in the middle of winter, she was a bloom of color and sunshine. She handed me one of the tarts, sugar sparkling. I bit in without hesitation and let out a hum of pleasure. Elain beamed.”
rereading the series for crumbs because why not
All of this in one chapter is crazy work of foreshadowing btw
if you asked me, I'd say it's crazy. It's so vividly clear, the mating bond. This is all in chronological order btw
It made sense, Elain being freed from whatever murky realm she'd been in after Azriel sensing what's amiss.
Don't let your mate prevent you from finding your true love x Let your mate foresee the woman you're supposed to be with
What a good introduction for the future couple 🤭
I came here to reread Lulu and Elain's scenes but ended up with more Elriel moments
Where's Lulu?
Oh here he is
But with another woman?
How about Elain?!
In conclusion of my acomaf-acowar rr, this is what I just wanted to say
ACOFAS, the book most people tried to ignore, next!
"Where's Lulu?" when Elain would need her mate? He's either off to look for another woman (his woman), later on lives with her in Elain's ex's estate OR he's near Elain and making her uncomfortable.
Not only he's making Elain feel uneasy, the bond makes Lucien feel uncomfortable too ("dripped in discomfort" - acosf, ch. 40).
FREE THEM BOTH. October can't come soon enough.
GAs and their random periods of mass psychosis
So, I was offline for a bit but let me get this straight and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
They received some sort of shark emoji from a friend of Sarah, who no person in their mind should know since... that's stalkery as fuck you weirdos
And now they're flooding the anons of those Elriels who still have that option available
But they've been trying to make us believe for months that they have some sort of TOP SECRET insider info from Brazilian Gw/nriels that they can't reveal?
When y'all couldn't even keep quiet about SHARK EMOJIS??? AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Are we fr dealing with middle schoolers here or what, because if so I'm afraid this literature is too explicit for you girlies 😭😭😭
Worth bearing in mind also, that they constantly put her in some sort of water setting in fan art. I don’t think it’s too far of a leap for her to send some sort of fish emoji. Throw them a bone of interaction because she’s probably a nice lady. But omg. Leave her alone. They’re all so weird.
I can't even imagine stalking the FRIEND of an author I like and sending her fanart this is such fucking strange behavior 😭
