I’m going to get on my soapbox here for just a moment and mention that it’s cruel and hurtful to say that a woman could never be with a man if she’s unable to birth him children. It doesn’t matter if that woman is fictional or not, because the struggle to conceive, infertility and pregnancy loss are very real issues for real women all over the world … so when your defense is ‘it’s not hurtful because Elain is a fictional character’, just know that’s not true, nor is it a valid excuse - you’re just being hurtful and obtuse.

You can hate Elain all you want, but many people, including the author herself, actually really like and respect her character - we’re excited to read her journey and her romantic arc with Azriel. No amount of your willful ignorance will change that. ♡

I’m an Elriel, but I love Elain even more. And because I love her so much, I don’t want her to end up with a loser like Lucien. If it weren’t Azriel, I’d rather Sarah create an entirely new love interest for Elain.

You know how I said the main reason I dislike Elucien was because Elain doesn’t want him? This is the other reason lol. To me Lucien brings nothing to the table. And I think he was a shitty friend to Feyre.

So if it came down to it I agree a new love interest would be necessary. Elucien is not appealing to me whatsoever. I don’t want to read the equivalent of Elain giving the nice guy a chance. I want her to stand on business and reject the fuck out of that mating bond. She already said she doesn’t want Lucien. I want consistency on that front lol

I’m genuinely so glad I’m on this side of the damn ship war that shouldn’t exist. I can’t imagine basing my entire belief system, regardless as to whether that’s something political or something like this, off of one persons perspective. I can’t imagine being that delusional that they would really take a Godzilla tattoo and a woven bracelet worn to a tattoo appointment as proof of endgame over, my god, the literal laundry list of things we have. It’s embarrassing. I am genuinely embarrassed for them.

My headcanon: I like to think Azriel decided to start staying at the townhouse after Nesta and Cassian became official, but he doesn't know that Elain has started sneaking over there to get some space/give Feyre and Rhys some space/have some alone time, then they sort of awkwardly run into each other both trying to escape the couples (having not spoken really in months since solstice) and it forces them to sort of confront each other. He's of course like, um I didn't mean you were a mistake, I just...can't. And she's like, well I miss you, I miss being your friend. So they decide to be friends (both internally yearning for each other obviously), so she actually is over there all the time, to the point that she's basically living there. Cue flirty roommate hijinks, trying to stay away from other, not being good at it, lingering in the hallway before going to separate bedrooms to think about each other etc etc it writes itself. They also start training her and are both secretly working on trying to figure out how to get rid of the bond.

Obviously, Feyre and Nesta are like, this is great! This makes sense! And also pulling Elain aside to be like "psst are you two...?" And being very inappropriate and suggestive (as are Nuala and Cerridwen, poor Elain just can't get a break and it makes it extra impossible to not want him).

Meanwhile Cassian's clueless and Rhys is secretly seething and he and Azriel are constantly glaring at each other, but Rhys can't say anything without admitting that he forbade Azriel from pursuing her, which wouldn't go over well with the sisters who have already decided it's a good idea.

As for Az taking Bryce there, I think he'd feel like Elain is safest wherever he is. Or maybe he knows she'd just stepped out after she finished baking to take a loaf and some fresh cut roses to Feyre or something. I also think he'd protect her, yes, but he'd also trust her. Like he wouldn't block her out or try to shield her from every danger.

This would be cute for sure.
