Hello! I'm currently working on a compilation video of every time Mark talked about Iron Lung and I want to add a quick fanart section at the end of the video and I was wondering if you were okay with one of your pieces being a part of it? this is something that i thought about for a little bit but didn't want to get into it and think too much because scope creep LOL. I honestly couldn't find anything about them having more than one gamete (or at least what we would call gametes) unless you counted the worker cells themselves, which is why I decided to call them isogametic and just refer to the eggs as gametes in this context. I'm sticking as close as possible to what Weir has written about their genetics and it is a pretty interesting system he came up with. I'd think maybe random mutation of the worker cell genomes would probably be a lot more frequent especially during the rapid proliferation that occurs... I think it was mentioned that Eridians also don't have robust DNA repair mechanisms because they didn't have to evolve any due to the thick atmosphere shielding them from pretty much any level of radiation, so maybe that could come into play? I might do a bit of a molecular & population genetics follow-up if i find the strength to do so LMAO. horizontal gene transfer within worker cell types could also be interesting i think!!
