The Last Kingdom 3.6 - Brida

She eyed his hand from where she stood then edged closer to his hand to sniff it but prepared to back off at a moment’s notice. She watched both Jon and Ghost’s movements something that had kept her alive so far.
Jon made a soft noise of praise and encouragement when she sniffed at his hand. Ghost stood watching and waiting, making sure that his other half was in no danger from the older hound. “You are a good girl, aren’t you.”
Maude sniffed his hand then backed away with a small whimper, eyeing the silent direwolf as she did. She appeared cautious and jumpy. She eyed the kennel master curiously.

She finished the meat and made sure it was gone as he approached, more like making sure the white one didn’t get her meat. She kept her eyes on the wolf her fur bristling a little bit as she moved to back away, already letting the wolf get dominance. She was a beta, she wasn’t an Alpha and she wasn’t going to fight with one that declared themselves alpha to her, like the dire wolf did with his eyes and stance. She whimpered slightly as her tail tucked itself between her legs in submission.
“Maude, here girl.” Jon held his hand out as Ghost sat down, satisfied with the proof that she was accepting of his dominance. Jon knew that the direwolf would be able to jump up in a split second, if the need arose. He watched the dog with a tilt of his head, waiting to see if she would approach to sniff his hand or stay back from him. There was hope that she would move towards him, that there was a hope that Ramsay had not hurt her beyond all help.

My muse is dead. Tell me how yours is dealing with it.
Starter Call for this little cutie pie of an deadly hound....
Hunting with her Master
Maude rested her head on his legs after he sat down by her. She licked his cold hands as if to apologize for worrying him. She whined a little bit as she shifted slightly as she moved away from the heat a little bit. Alone time with Ramsay was a rare treat as he normally interacted with the hounds in the pack form instead of one and one most of the time.
This wasn’t something he allowed himself often, the time spent in silence and the darkness lit by firelight, a companion at his side. Sure, she wasn’t human…but still, he never stopped moving and seeking thrills…but this, he had to admit, felt good.
He smirked art the tongue swiping his hand and he petted her on the head in reply.
“That was some hunt, hey, girl?”
She chuffed in reply, just resting her big head on his lap determined to soak up all his attention. She had helped with the kill and that was all she cared about. She looked up at him with those old eyes hoping he wasn’t mad at her for getting injured by the prey.
Dogs are better than you because they know how to shut the fuck up
Probably Ramsay at some point (via asong-of-thrones)

The Cell (2000) Directed by Tarsem Singh
Maude limps into the room where Ramsay is sitting and makes her way over to lay at his feet (ramsaysloyalhound because of reasons)
Blue eyes are resting behind closed lids as the Lord of the Dreadfort takes a moment to himself in front of the great fireplace in the main hall. The castle was long asleep, silent and cold, the way he liked it. Legs kicked out in front of him, crossed at the ankles, head leaned back to face the ceiling, fingers clasped together and resting on his stomach, looking completely and utterly relaxed in the flicker of the firelight.
But he wasn’t relaxed. Not at all. The battle for the North loomed on the horizon, their march for the battlefield would take place at dawn…and he couldn’t shake the image of Sansa’s eyes, cold and full of promise. You’re going to die tomorrow, Lord Bolton. Sleep well. He couldn’t sleep, the strategy he’d compiled ran over and over in his mind. Was it sturdy enough? Was he sure to win?
The ever faithful hound must have sensed his unease even past his perfectly calm exterior because she’d come to him, not demanding any attention at all, simply taking her place next to his legs and settling there as a sturdy presence. One eye opened slightly to glance down at the warm body pressing against his calf and his lips quirked into a slight smile while one hand dropped down to lazily rumple her ear. He didn’t speak to her, and that was the best thing about dogs, really…they already knew and there was no need for words.
Hunting with her Master
She looked up at him as he knelt next to her and examined her leg, yelping in pain when he reached just under her knee joint. She panted as he picked her up and put her on the horse. If she was in any fighting mood she would have struggled against being tied onto the horse but she was in so much pain the leg moved a tiny bit, she stayed still as the they headed back home, whimpering softly as they headed back to the Dreadfort.
Ramsay seethed quietly the entire walk back, reaching the gates as the sun sunk behind the towers of the castle and cast the world in shadow. The day was gone and the hunt was over and he not only lost the boar but he had an injured dog to boot. Injured, but thankfully not beyond fixing.
With the help of the kennel master, Maude was carefully pulled off the horse and carried to her pen where Ramsay planned to leave her and not use he again until she recovered…but as he turned to leave a cold draft blew through the kennel and he shivered in spit of the furs he wore. With a sigh, he ordered the hound be brought to one of the empty rooms in the keep, a fire started in the empty hearth and her injured leg splinted and bandaged.
He had spent far too much effort on training this hound for fears and she’d proven invaluable on the hunt…he wouldn’t just leave her to heal in the kennels. What Roose didn’t know, wouldn’t hurt him.
When they got back to the castle, she stayed as still as she could as the kennel master picked her up off the horse and carried her to her pen. The one place she knew she was safe and could relax and allow herself to heal under the kennel master’s care. But then she noticed that they weren’t staying in the kennels she was brought in and placed in a room near the kitchens close enough to the outside of the keep where it could have been permissible for a healing dog to stay.
She watched as a fire was started in the hearth as the kennel master set her on a rug near it and worked to splint up her broken leg for it to heal. She laid her head down on her uninjured leg and glanced up at Ramsay as the kennel master backed away. Maude for a moment felt her age and felt grateful for the fire warming her side.
Maude watched her as she got closer and kneeled near her. Maude could smell Ramsay’s scent mixed with hers and Maude relaxed a bit more as she watched the package being unwrapped she saw the meat and cheese and gladly and gently as picked the chunk up off her hand. She looked up at the girl as she ate the cube of meat.
Food had always been the way into the heart of her dogs growing up, food and affection, of course. But Isyla would have to work her way into that, but she knew once she was able to pet Maude or form any type of bond, she would be annoying Ramsay about allowing her indoors at all times. His policy was strict but she challenged it, kennels were silly, they needed warm padded beds and fires and fresh meat. By the third piece of meat, she thought she may try her luck with a head scratch. So she reached her hand out, flat and unthreatening to test the waters.
Maude was enjoying the rare treat the meat was. She sniffed the hand and licked it tasting the meat but knowing that the woman wasn’t prey yet kept to licking it. Most of the women they hunted didn’t have Ramsay’s scent on them anymore when they were hunting them, biting one that did have his scent wasn’t a wise idea for any of the dogs. She stopped licking and not seeing any food in the hand laid her head down just enjoying the small interaction to distract her from the throbbing pain of her forearm.
Isyla laughed softly, poor girl must be in so much pain, she wasn’t sure how to take that away. All she could offer was a distraction and food. When the curious licks halted and her head touched the ground, the young woman decided to gently scratch the top of her head. With her free hand, she held out a generous chunk of cheese. “I’m sure you’ll be back to it in no time.”
She moved her head to where the woman’s fingers scratched her favorite spot to be scratched and took the chunk of cheese willingly. Ramsay never spoiled her this much maybe she could try to put some weight on her feet and try to hobble around she was getting a little stir crazy from laying down by this fire the whole time she was healing.
Maude watched her as she got closer and kneeled near her. Maude could smell Ramsay’s scent mixed with hers and Maude relaxed a bit more as she watched the package being unwrapped she saw the meat and cheese and gladly and gently as picked the chunk up off her hand.
