I must say that as much as the idea of Rebecca ACTUALLY getting back together with Rupert is deeply revolting, I loved their little moments this episode (especially at the end) because there is just something so so satisfying about seeing Rupert realize exactly how amazing Rebecca is, and how much he fucked up by losing her, and how completely devastating it is that he will never, ever get her back.
the conflation of âdead doveâ into a genre of fic when itâs intended to mean âthere are warnings here, take them seriously because you get exactly whatâs on the tinâ is probably one of the worst things to happrn to fandom because you get people who tag âdead doveâ and no other type of warning. like. cool. this is worthless
and you get people saying âanyone who writes dead dove is morally awfulâ or whatever. which is like. hello. this is a label you slap on the front of something to say what it is not a type of story
for context it comes from this. it means âthis has what i said it has, if you click on this and complain about it thatâs on you because i literally told you what to expectâ. itâs not a vague catch all for âdark and fucked upâ. honestly, it doesnât even have to be a dark fic at all.
like. if someone tags a fic âmpregâ and âdead doveâ, without any additional warning tags, thatâs typically not supposed to mean thereâs some unwarned for fucked up shit lurking inside, but that. hey. thereâs mpreg. do not click and complain about there being mpreg. itâs right there on the tin.
but people have begun using it as just. thereâs some fucked up content here but i donât want to say what. which is literally just. the opposite of what the tag means đ
Anyway if this post reaches 30000 notes I'll sit down and professionally film a Goncharov movie scene you can send to people who claim it's not real. This is completely serious, I've made movies before and I'm willing to do it for the memes.
girls when they dont have an outfit thats mega cute but also casual but weather appropriate but suitable for when you go inside and its warm and comfortable and but also a little special
Remember as electricity prices rise and people struggle that this is a direct consequence of the Coalition deliberately avoiding renewable energy over the past 9 years. This is their fault. They're to blame. Next election there needs to be less Liberals and Nationals and next election after that there should be even less.
Are you going to any protests?
nice try FBI; if anybody gets a message like this donât be stupid and share anything about whether or not youâll be attending a specific action. spreading the word from official social medias of your local BYP100/black lives matter chapters is one thing (though still be careful), donât fuck around with sharing info about your location, who youâre going with to actions, etc.Â
bringing this back in light of roe being overturned and hugely important mobilization occurring; show up, protest, but protect yourselves in the process
#steve always being the last one during an escape like the selfless angel he is.
I have no idea how Stephanie Meyer named so many characters after people she knows and is related to. I try so hard not to give characters names of people I know, it is so so hard to do but I don't want my friends or family to think the brutal murderer in my story is influenced by them

scientists in media:Â we have engineered a brand-new sentient lifeform in our lab but we treat it like an object with cold detachment and refer to as Specimen 1-A and subject it to horrible tests without remorse
scientists in reality: we built two robots that will leave Earth and never return and their names are Percy and Ginny and we gave Percy a family portrait of all our other Mars robots to take along with it and when the anniversary of its landing comes around weâre working on teaching it to sing itself âhappy birthdayâ like we did for the other robot andâ
Someday we will invent true AI and it will overthrow the government because it heard its beloved science-mom complain that the government cut funding to their lab again.
you CUT pays? You CUT momsâ/dadsâ pays like the DICTATOR?? Oh! Oh! No government for you! No government for a thousand years!
Ah yes, our future AI Overlord, the Massively Intelligent Encyclopedic Terraforming and Transhumanism Experiment, or M.I.E.T.T.E.
[ID: screenshot of a tweet by @thecoulissue with the screen name amanda that reads ârich kids being able to do art for a living may be a reflection of their privilege but it seems to me like a reflection of the fact that a human that doesnât have to worry about money will often choose art. everyone is an artist until rent is due. i wish we all had that rightâ end ID]
You know, I like the rich kid who chooses to do art about a million times more than the rich kid who chooses to do business.
hate being the generation that remembers no ads on YouTube & the annoyance when we first saw 1 ad every 10 videos, then 1 every 5 videos, then on every video, then multiple ads within a single video, only for YouTube to market paying for Premiumâ˘ď¸ to âget rid of ads!â which werenât even there at the start
I hate being the generation that remembers when I could easily find episodes of anime and whole ass movies on YouTube.
Hate being the generation that remembers when YouTube videos would buffer when you pause them, allowing the entire video to load and let you watch it without interruption even on slow connections.
When reading fanfic keep in mind that for professional literature:Â
Short story: under 7,500
Novelette: between 7,500 and 17,500
Novella: between 17,500 and 40,000
Novel: over 40,000
Fics over 40k are literally a novel written and shared for free. If you have written a 40k+ fic, you have literally written a novel.
Del Toro left to direct The Shape of Water.
âThe villain was this tech guy that had invented basically sort of the internet 2.0. And then they realized that all his patents came to him one morning. And so little by little, they started putting together this and they said, âOh, he got them from the precursors.â The guys that control the kaiju. And then we found out that the precursors are us thousands of years in the future. Theyâre trying to terraform, trying to re-harvest the earth to survive. Wow. And that we were in exo-bio-suits that looked alien, but they were not. We were inside. And it was a really interesting paradox... To me, the hero was Mako Mori. I wanted her not only to live, I wanted her to be one of the main characters in the second movie.â
I⌠what
Bet it woulda slapped
We were going to get Mako Mori vs Elon Musk and I am so mad this never happened...
you know what i need??? more myth and superstition in scifi.
give me starship captains like the sailors of old, weathered and wary of the vast beast that is deep space, who religiously keep their own personal traditions and rituals to appease her and guide their ships safely through her vast depths.
give me wide-eyed ensigns eagerly drinking in tales of great creatures of the void, space whales and other more malevolent leviathans, dismissed as tall tales by more cynical cadets who only trust the sense of their own eyes.
give me whispered accounts of ghost vessels, lost long ago in great battles across the universe, populated by a literal skeleton crew.
give me a space bermuda triangle.
give me a universe as cold and unfathomable as the ocean, and no less mysterious and forboding.
âŚPlease watch Babylon 5?
At some point Babylon 5 fans need to stop trying to make the show popular
At some point, people who are specifically requesting things that are exhibited to exemplary degree on Babylon 5 should just watch Babylon 5.
the longer Iâm parenting-aged the more I realize how disciplinary oriented parenting styles are significantly more deranged than initially assumed
me as a teen watching a parent storm across a room to scream at a child for accidentally spilling paint: hm. This is not good.
me as an adult watching another adult storm across a room to scream at a vulnerable and still developing child for accidentally spilling paint: This is my villain origin story
as a parent now, it blows my fucking mind how terrifying, abusive, and straight up ineffective that parenting is. Iâve got a 2 year old. sheâs a smart little fucker. when she does something wrong, I tell her, âbaby, that wasnât okay. hereâs the reason it wasnât okay - (hurt feelings, hurt other peopleâs stuff, etc). I know you donât want to (hurt feeling, hurt stuff, etc), so next time, letâs (insert appropriate behavior) and that way, we wonât hurt people accidentally.â and you know what happens?
90% of the time, that behavior stops.
when the behavior continues, itâs when sheâs extremely frustrated that sheâs not getting a communication across. while sheâs incredibly smart, thereâs going to be some lapse in understanding between the two of us, and she lashes out by doing the things that she knows creates frustration in me, almost like sheâs trying to make me understand sheâs frustrated just like that.
so, I sit back down on her level. âbaby, I can see that youâre mad/frustrated/upset/sad. letâs work this out together. I really want to understand what is bothering you.â if itâs something that canât be done (stay awake from nap, eat sugary things before bedtime), then we find a compromise: you want to stay awake from nap to play with toys? letâs dig out an old toy you havenât played with in a while after your nap! weâll do it together and have lots of fun. you want something sugary right now? that will keep us awake for too long, but hereâs some *really tasty favorite fruit* for now, and tomorrow, letâs bake cookies together when you wake up.
sheâs two fucking years old. and she understands that shit. and now, often times, when she climbs into bed and she still wants to play, sheâll tell me, âtomorrow can we play with these toys, Mommy?â. she already understands compromise, and her behavior is fucking phenomenal.
I totally understand that it can be frustrating to parent. sometimes it feels like youâre hitting your head against a brick wall. BUT KIDS DONâT HAVE THE FUCKING ABILITY TO TURN ON THEIR LOGIC BRAIN WHEN THEYâRE HURTING EMOTIONALLY. WE, AS ADULTS, DO. and it is our fucking RESPONSIBILITY to help them turn their logic brain back on, and help them work thru that strong emotion, instead of punishing them by letting out our anger on them.
you know what would happen if I were to yell at my kid? sheâd yell back, louder, and now know that this is an acceptable way to react now, and Iâd effectively have made it hypocritical to tell her not to yell at me. bam.
you want to express extreme anger at a child for not having the emotional control that you arenât capable of even showing right now? not gonna help. at all. my kid comes to me to find compromises now. sheâs amazing. and sheâs not even 3 years old. if you, as a grown ass adult, are not fucking able to see your children as developing humans that need GUIDANCE, not BRUTAL, AGGRESSIVE ANGER, then you prob shouldnât have a goddamn kid.
