This year’s Game Awards had so many announcements, I just had to share my faves!

Leon Kennedy makes his return in Resident Evil Requiem, and he brings along the action we’ve come to love from the games in his POV, along with Grace’s survival horror POV…

The Street Fighter movie dropped it’s first teaser and it’s looks like a helluva good time! And the cast is packed! Some of them even appeared on stage! (I’ll share my thoughts on it in another post)

Marvel Rivals revealed their new characters for next year, and oh boy, is it gonna be a chaotic good time! (I’ll also talk about it in another post)

I’m a huge DND fan, so seeing that we get a video game all about one of my fave player classes, the Warlock, I’m just so hyped!

They announced not one, but TWO new Star Wars games! The first one revealed was a return to the Old Republic in Fate of the Old Republic, and the second one revealed was a Podracing game, Galactic Racers! That galaxy far far away is about to get even more fun!

They revealed even more stuff for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight! We got a look at more gameplay, some of the playable characters, and even more villains! The DC fan in me is freaking out right now!

After Evanescance performed Afterlife live (which was hella epic btw), it was announced that season 2 of Devil May Cry is coming out May 12th next year! Which is obviously gonna rock, especially now that Vergil’s gonna be involved more!

Lara Croft returns in two new games, one being a remake of her very first adventure, and one being a brand new adventure! Tomb Raider fans are gonna be eating well the next two years!

Overall, the years ahead are gonna be great for us video game fans!

I’ve been a Call of Duty fan for a while now, (even though I’ve never played the actual games, mostly watched the cutscenes on YouTube) so when I saw that the Modern Warfare 4 trailer dropped, I was absolutely hyped!

It all starts with South Korean soldiers on duty and when North Korea launches a full on attack in the South, it devastates the country. If that doesn’t trigger WW3, I don’t know what will…

Price is back, and on the run after killing General Shepard in MW3. 4 days before the attack, he’s on a solo mission in NYC, hunting down a man who’s deserving of Price’s wrath more than Shepard. Some internet creators were invited by the studio for a sneak peek at gameplay and story, and one of them revealed in their reaction video that the guy Price was hunting is Vladimir Makarov, and he beat him to death with his bare hands, to which I said “yes! Fuck you Makarov! That’s for Soap, you ultranationalist bastard!” (And yes, that’s exactly what came out of my mouth in that moment)

And now comes a montage of missions, a Paris team up with Valeria (yes, El Sin Nombre herself from MW2), SK vs NK taking each other down across the country, it’s some really intense stuff…

And now here’s the kicker: Ghost is back and he’s gonna be facing off against Price. For what reason, we have no idea why. I really don’t want them to kill each other, especially after everything they’ve been through…

This will all go down October 23rd, so be ready soldiers…

This adventure into the vault of the damned really made them think, and I’m glad they shared their thoughts with us in these echo logs.

In the Vault of the Damned DLC, there is a side mission that is just the most romantic thing you will ever see. The story may even sound familiar to you…

The mission is called:

Star Crossed

And if that doesn’t give you a hint to what it’s based on, the rest of this post will make it clear for you…

You have to help this scientist, Dr Romeo Stein, find the body parts for the love of his life, Julien, so that he can pull a Frankenstein to bring him back to life. Over the course of the mission, you get to hear their whole love story, starting from when they met at a masquerade party to when Julien sacrificed himself to save Romeo after Elpis came to Kairos. Even the vault hunters think this love story is to adorable!

You also get help from the ghost of Julien (yes, there are ghosts in this DLC), who leads you to his body parts and explains even more of the love story, and here’s where the similarities to a certain love story shine…

After they got married (3 hours later), Julien’s cousin Ty tried to kill Romeo, but Romeo killed Ty, but Julien forgave him, husband over cousin to use his words. Romeo also has a friend called Merc who also was killed by Ty. And their families are rivals, with Julien’s family having ties to Dahl. If you aren’t getting it, this whole mission is just Romeo and Juliet, but with a gay couple, and it’s in space, which are absolutely awesome! They even used a quote from the story! “As if there was a plague on both your houses.” So cool!

You manage to get all the body parts and Romeo finally acknowledges Julien’s ghost and they have the most romantic reunion ever! They even have a cute jinx thing! It’s so cute!

But as the machine puts Julien’s body back together again, it kills Romeo, which absolutely sucks, but Romeo gets turned into a ghost, so he’s still around. Julien even says that the body parts used for his new body will just decompose in a few months so he’ll be back to being a ghost, and they can finally be together!

This mission might be my favourite in the DLC, based off of one of my fave love stories of all time!

I’ve already seen playthroughs with Rafa, Vex and C4SH’s reactions, now I need to find Amon and Harlowe playthroughs so I can see their reactions to this romance…

Tales from the Borderlands has to be one of my favourite Telltale games out there, and it’s the one that got me into Borderlands in the first place!

And with every Borderlands game, each episode has it’s own iconic intro with its own songs and visuals.

So of course we’re gonna rank them, because why not?

(Possible spoilers ahead ⚠️)

Episode 5: Vault of the Traveler - Retrograde; i absolutely adore this song and this intro never fails to make me cry, especially with what’s happening in it. The crew are at their lowest - Loader Bot sacrificed himself to save Rhys, Handsome Jack’s AI took over Helios, they all barely made it out alive and the station is crashing down into Pandora. What an emotional way to start off the final episode…

2. Episode 3: Catch A Ride - Pieces of the People We Love; who doesn’t love a road trip montage? The song is a vibe, the crew are bonding, shenanigans happen, and they’re on their way to find the pieces of Gortys, the adorable little robot that’ll help find the Vault of the Traveler! A great start to a great episode!

3. Episode 1: Zer0 Sum - Busy Earning; a great song to start off a great story! The song totally fits Rhys and his ambition for money and respect, and it’s a groovy vibe (like all Jungle songs are). It also helps that there are some amazing visuals to go along with it, introducing the landscape of Pandora with its creatures, people and bandits. I love how some actions synced with the music, especially the car landing onto the planet. And it’s not a Borderlands intro without a Skag getting run over…

4. Episode 2: Atlas Mugged - Kiss The Sky; a slow-mo scene with a vibey song never disappoints, but the sound effects overshadow the song itself, so it’s kinda hard to enjoy. The placement of the credits within them is pretty clever and the title card mixed with the slow-mo crash is pretty awesome! This intro prioritises visuals over song, so I would’ve preferred something a bit more balanced…

5. Episode 4: Escape Plan Bravo - To The Top; the song is alright, and the little funny moments that happen during the crew’s space flight make it enjoyable, but it wasn’t really a stand out to me. The episode was great though!

HM: Finale credits - My Silver Lining: the melancholy sounds of country ending our journey with Rhys and Fiona really brings a sense of nostalgia to this game. And showing how many players made the same crucial choices you did really does make you look back and think “what would happen if I chose another option?” The art of every character you got attached to and moment you played through really does make you sad that it’s all over, but happy you got to experience such an amazing story…
