A messy lil doodle because @obernice's AU has me in a choke hold. It's so terribly cute.
Oh maaaaan😢😢💟💟💟
I think it's very important we never *see* anybody abstract in the whole series. We always follow the other characters as they *find* someone who's already abstracted off-screen. The closest we get is Jax nearly abstracting in her bedroom but notably that instance is interrupted when Pomni knocks on her door.
Abstraction always happens in solitude. It happens when someone is isolated and beyond hope, and then one day, you check on them, only to find they're already gone. The thing that remains isn't them anymore.
The suicide metaphor is... pretty apparent when you realize that.
IT'S CALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COMPASSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT EMPATHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WORD YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS COMPASSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what I mean when I saw that Pure Vanilla isn't empathic. He is compassionate, but he has trouble understanding others and seeing that his words or actions may seem odd or insensitive
Also the CRK fandom as a community has not felt the same since episode 15
the amazing digital circus is a show about empathy and what it does to you if you go too long without a support system so the show starts with sympathizing with Pomni (the most empathetic person, easy), ep2 is empathizing with an NPC in a game (no flaws), ep3 is empathizing with a man who has dementia, ep4 is empathizing with someone who annoys you when they're unmasking, ep5 is asking you to empathize with a rich white woman and so on....
so it all works up to the empathy boss - a bush era edgelord millenial trans girl who thinks she's Max from Sam & Max and is inherently unworthy of love
and some people failed the empathy test
Exactly the show is not asking you to forgive her the show is asking to empathize with her those are different things
Fleur in a nutshell:
Fleur is THE character ever.
They're an anarchist, they're a victim of capitalism, they're babygirl, they're a boytoy, they're gorgeous, they're pathetic, they pull without trying, they fumble constantly, there's something immensely wrong with them, they're weirdly self-actualised, they're anti-social, they're a social butterfly.
There's more but my brain is FRIED.
Forsaken prophet

Here is also the ref that started it all - the porcelain figuring of Marie Antoinette
Hmmmmm... Luna moth Lily...
Here it is!
I was impressed by how much this moth matches white lily, I hope you like it!
How I imagine their dynamic
Would you guys execute me if i killed a specific sick and weak blonde haired kid who happens to be white lily and pure vanillas younger child
Ok well i wont kill her.. shes too cute it would torn my heart im afraid.
That's called having a heart, love
You try not murdering when you're hungry
I believe that Shadow Milk isolating Pure Vanilla wasn't just so he could have him to himself but also so Pure Vanilla could be as lonely as he is
It's a manipulation strategy often seen in unhealthy relationships (and cults), because isolating someone from friends and family who care about them makes them wholly dependent on you for their social needs. The strategy tends to change depending on both the person attempting it, sometimes painting the loved ones as bad people who are jealous or who talk badly about the target behind their back, sometimes making the target feel as though they are burdening others by depending on them, or sometimes just insisting that since the manipulator themselves doesn't like the other loved ones, that the target shouldn't associate with them any longer. In regards to Shadownilla, while control does play a part in Shadow Milk's manipulation, I think a part of it is also insecurity. If Pure Vanilla has his fellow ancients, his kids, Black Raisin, the Cream Republic reps and others flocking around him, then he doesn't NEED Shadow Milk. Not like Shadow Milk obviously feels like HE needs Pure Vanilla.
The fascinating aspect of Shadownilla is the way Shadow Milk reacted when his manipulations failed, and yet Pure Vanilla didn't reject him and wanted to help ease his pain and loneliness instead. Dude literally fell apart when he realized that he couldn't exert control over Pure Vanilla and their relationship, choosing to see Pure Vanilla's compassion as mere pity, and has been on a rage-quest ever since.
why is everybody getting cancelled wth
Sooo about the new Fountprophet AU, It's going to happen, the comic will take a while but here's their design!
And their creators/mentors!
There will be other characters such as Candy Apple, Black Saphire and the Gingergang I just didn't drew them yet!

The difference between Smilk's vocal performances (and resulting fan perception) in English vs in Korean is best summed up by this TikTok:

No shade towards how CJ portrays him, of course, but... HOLY HECK...
YESSS YESSS ACCURATE LMAOOO
I’m such a fan of Korean Shadow Milk’s attitude and performance it makes him sound like a villain (and a deranged freak) he is and just goes so hard. Tbh CJ does a great job voicing Shadow Milk BUT the voice direction is a miss sometimes. If eng localisation team gave him a proper description of a character he’s supposed to depict he’d be perfect
I loveee the decision to make Eternal Sugar well,, sugar- and the metaphor behind it. The garden is quite literally sugarcoated- appearing on the surface as the source of true happiness, much like how sloth can initially appear to be comforting the surface. But like sugar tastes sweet but rots your teeth (which is why Eternal Sugar and her garden is associated with teeth), eternal sloth leads to decay as well... in sense of spirit. The garden is even described as "cloying" multiple times- the perfect word here- the garden is too sweet, overabundant with sugar. However, it's fine to consume sweets in moderation, just like it's okay to indulge in sloth on occasion
On the contrary, hollyberries are often described as having a bitter and unpalatable taste
