Dark Role Play: Or, Avoiding Creeps [Or Being One]
Always read a blog’s about and rules before messaging them about ideas.
Dark plots cover a lot of things, including violence, horror, war, torture, gore, and trauma. They may even mention sexual abuse or feature it in the back ground, but rarely is anyone ever comfortable writing them out.
“I will pay you to role play this with me”. Um. No. Just. There’s so much sketch there its not even funny. First of all, you have no guarantee they will. Two, being paid to write other people’s character’s can get you in huge trouble.
If you say you don’t want to do a plot for any reason, you shouldn’t have to explain it, and you shouldn’t have to repeat yourself. So, if they push it, say good bye, and block.
You are not obligated to write with anyone you don’t want to, or simply don’t mesh well with.
Similarly, no one is obligated to write with you just because you can’t get anyone to role play what you want.
If someone is making you feel uncomfortable you are under no obligation to explain it, or warn them. Removing yourself from an uncomfortable situation is not rude. Its self care.
“Its Just Role Play”. I have never heard this said by someone casually except when it was someone who had wanted a rape plot, or the mentioned fellow with his pedophilia obsession. The individuals who defend their requests with “its just role play” know damn well it isn’t. They know what they’re asking for is problematic in nature. But they also know they’ve been called out.
Smut Plots: You know, there is a tag for this. NSFW RP. Smut RP. God bless. But don’t bother fandom role players you have never talked to before about t his.
Rape Plots: I can’t even believe I have to explain this isn’t okay. Its not okay to ask strangers for rape plots. Its just not. its a thing a lot of people out there have experiences, and you could trigger them. Its possibly the most horrific experience a person can go through, and most writers won’t put their muses through that either.
Pedophilia Plots: Yeah I’m going to go ahead and say no. Just generally no. Exploiting children is not okay. Exploiting children characters is not okay. And I’d put even odds down to say its illegal. And if you are a person who wants to do a pedophilia post I don’t have to be a trained professional to say something is wrong with you.
