like - you just traipse through life like "well he wouldn't like me back so it's wtv" all nonchalant and shit while the poor man is literally falling over himself trying to get it through your head that HEYYY that's not right??? i'm literally in love with you??? i worship the ground you walk on???? i'll do whatever you want????
and bless your heart, you see every single time he tries to hit on you as an act of kindness:
"awww, he got me (insert fav food here) cus i said i was hungry, what a nice guy!"
"he complimented my outfit! he must've liked the color of my shirt!"
"wow, he seems to be zoning out a lot, i hope he's okay!" (he's been staring at your lips for the past five minutes)
and he just... doesn't know what to do to make you see what he sees.
like you're so gorgeous and funny and why wouldn't he like you??
he's convinced that if he were to stand in front of you and tell you he loves you, you'd be like, "I love you too! you're such a good friend!"
(which has happened before and a little part of him died inside)
it literally takes him everything in his power to make you realize his feelings, and you just stand there for a moment, seemingly connecting the dots over the past few months, and all you can come up with is a small, dumb, "oh."
Nayuta is aloof so he's not the affectionate type, but he has the man still has feelings and his own way of expressing them. His feelings are subtle, though— you'd have to catch it at the speed of light.
With his sharp words and actions, his eyes are equally sharp. He notices everything— the small things.
Recently, he's taken a small interested towards GYROAXIA's current roadie.
He picks up on your habits, like how you take your coffee, the sound of your footsteps when you're about to come, the keychain that dangles off your purse, or the fact you arrive at the practice room earlier than the other gyroaxia members even though you do it to help them prepare.
Sometimes, he even arrives earlier than everyone, including you, just so he can have a moment alone with you. He doesn't say anything, though— he simply tolerates your presence in silence while he looks over the next song he's going to be performing and you're preparing the soundsystem.
During breaks in band practice, you and the other members make small talk— what to eat today, what you're craving, what's been on your mind. Nayuta stays off to the side, minding to himself, but his ears subtly perked up as he listens to your voice, taking a slow sip from his water bottle.
You'd mentioned your interest in a new limited edition drink sold at the grocery store, but you haven't been able to get your hands on it. So when kenta, or one of the members goes out to shop, nayuta might casually slip in a small request to the shopping list— or even join them and quietly leave the drink into the cart himself.
He notices how you keep a distance between everyone's personal life, including his. With gyroaxia, you are on good terms with everyone but professionally, you're their roadie so you mostly only engage in small talk, dropping little, seemingly insignificant details about your life outside work, but he still takes note of them. Like when you casually mentioned your grade on a recent test to kenta, or how you and reon like the same artist, the hair product you recommended to miyuki.
But he finds it annoying when you mention those minor details to them, it's not important, it gets in his way.
He won't admit that he's annoyed, jealous, you won't share some things with him. Maybe it's because everytime you try to engage in a conversation with him, he either ignores you or immediately dismisses you.
He doesn't say it, but he recognizes your effort in taking care of the band.
You always take note of every comment from the members, whether minor or important. When kenta mentioned that the current performance and practice schedule was clashing with some gigs, even some personal appointment of the members, he struggled to find the time to fix it. Then nayuta complained how the sound system didn't sound right, which quite bothered him throughout practice.
And so, the next day you immediately handled the practice schedule, ensuring everyone was reminded on time. Everything went smoothly by the end of the week.
You had even came more earlier to practice so you could adjust the volume, bass, trebble on the tone control, and fixed his in-ear monitor. He noticed the difference immediately— even without you having to say anything.
He knew you had taken care of it before anyone even asked.
"It's different." He grumbles.
"Is it not up to your liking, Nayuta?" you ask.
He responds with nothing but a click of his tongue. It’s not much, but from the tone and the way his expression isn’t too stern, you can tell it means good enough. So, you don’t press further and simply smile to yourself, proud.
