When the DM starts describing a strong magic item with themes and powers that align with your character/backstory:
Passing skill checks with bad rolls is hilarious.
Snowcapped. I love the soft, gentle feel of this set.

Pink Tourmaline Glass Polyhedral Dice Set //Â URWizards
Hello all! Here is the first ever fully completed campaign setting Iâve ever released! Iâm really proud of it and I really hope yâall enjoy it!

Hereâs my first piece for the @officialtolkiensecretsanta gift exchange; Elladan & Elrohir out on a autumnal hunt !
This gift is forâŚ
âŚyouâre just gonna have to wait and see!
One time I was DMing a campaign where the players walked into that tavern every campaign has and one of the patrons was a Mindflayer wearing a very bad human disguise who insisted his name was Johnald Humanman. And they were just like âOh, okay. Well, thatâs his businessâ and didnât interact with Johnald Humanman at all.
I planned for a lot of eventualities but I never planned for a D&D party being polite
I once had a DM tell us that we completed a quest line about 3 sessions earlier than he expected because we got told by a group of lizardfolk that ânobody goes to that part of the swampâ and all went âhuh, ok! Thanks for the warningâ and just didnât go
Once told my players that an entire village halfway up a mountain had been killed except one survivor who went mad and they said, âThanks for the tip!â And have avoided that mountain like the plague ever since.
Once when i was DMing a oneshot campaign i was describing the countryside leading up to a Dark and Mysterious Forest and when i mentioned a horse stable in the countryside (as set dressing) the party elected to go there instead and then spent the rest of the evening having deep conversations with the horses (with the druid character translating) who kept âconvenientlyâ changing the subject to the Dark and Mysterious Forest and how Dastardly and Dangerous it was and the party was like âoh???? Wack, not going there then :)â and then the campaign ended
Much like how every riddle is easy once you know the answer, the DMâs blatant plot hooks are probably not blatant to anyone else
Sure but in none of these examples is there a reason to actually go. Village on the mountain got destroyed except for one insane survivor? Thatâs rough buddy. Oh you need someone to go retrieve the locket of their departed wife from the village so they can grief? Now thatâs an actual plot hook.
If you just say an area is scary and mysterious, why would you go? At least say thereâs a buttload of treasure there or something.

An orb pondering time for @maria-ruta đŽâ¨
the genderless urge to give your DND character trauma
i think the most important rule about d&d is to have fun with friends and the second most important is to be wildly obsessed with your character and the third is to be wildly obsessed with everyone elseâs
three main parts of d&d culture are
1. *drops to 0hp* âIâm dead.â âYouâre not dead yetâ
2. rolling a bad perception roll and your dm is just like âyou donât have a fucking clue where you are. a room maybe?â
3. when the dm is narrating a scene for another character and your character isnât even there so when you make a smartass comment about whatâs happening the dm shouts âYouâre not hereâ
