About this blog
I measure the temperature of things and places in Rrads (Rankine radians) with the intention of making the Celsius or Fahrenheit debate worse.
Questions I expect you to have:
What are Rrads?
Rrads are radians that have been calculated relative to the Rankine temperature scale
What are radians?
An alternate way of measuring angles around a circle, and the most likely reason your calculator gave you the wrong answer when you tried to use sin/cos/tan.
The conversion between ° and rad is 1°*π/180= π
What is Rankine?
Rankine is the absolute temperature scale in the imperial system. It is to Fahrenheit as Kelvin is to Celsius.
The conversion between Fahrenheit and Rankine is °F + 459.67 = °R. The conversion between Celsius and Fahrenheit is °C × 9/5 + 32 = °F. The conversion between Celsius and Rankine is °C × 9/5 + 491.67 = °R. The conversion between Kelvin and Rankine is K x 9/5 = °R.
Why did you choose Rankine?
A) It's the funniest option B) I get to make my symbol be Rrad C) I didn't want to use Celsius or Fahrenheit, and Kelvin isn't measured in degrees. It's just Kelvin.
Can I send you asks with temperature conversion requests?
Yes, absolutely! Please do, but make sure to include the units (Fahrenheit or Celsius (or other)) if you are providing specific number(s)
Will this blog ever feature other obscure measurement systems?
Maybe, but they would not be temperature or angle related.
