Implies that's a mask to hide a true, cynical and machiavelic nature, that actually enjoys experiencing and inflicting suffering, rather than his counterpart's learnt protection mechanism?

The same would apply to the rest: (spoiler?) Kinger being authoritarian implying darker processes of creation for the Circus, Ragatha being insufferable in an Asuka Langley situation, and Pomni would've definitely turned Gummigoo and his crew mashed gummies in that adventure.
