Prompt: "Gibbs/Kit - Gibbs has an injury that needs to be homoerotically bandaged"
Davy Jones with his son for sweet @the-chaos-katzlein
HE TOOK HIS SON FISHING!!!
people are so weird about self insert ocs actually. like why wouldn't you want a made up little guy who's like you except cooler and they get to live all your fantasies? what are you afraid of? having fun? free yourself
people will really try to tell you "self insert ocs are cringe" like okay then. when you play a first person pov video game with character customization options do you not style them at least a little bit to reflect yourself as the player? have you never thought about what an ideal version of you with no restrictions would look and act like? do you never imagine yourself in situations? open your eyes
"self insert ocs are cringe" lol i'm hanging out with all my favorite characters in my mind and we aren't even talking about you
Potc Oc doodles!
They carry the heavy burden of being the only one able to read/write...
If you have fic/art/etc about your oc that youâd like to share, or if thereâs a fic youâd like to recommend, you can submit it, or tag this blog in your post!
Made a Crewman oc of the Dutchman! (Rewatched all of the pirates movies, love em).
They have parts of a deep sea isopod. My vague idea for their story is that their ship sank down to the near bottom after an attack from another ship seeking revenge or treasure and they were offered the choice to join Davy Jonesâ crew. They took it, because in the last moments of their life before their ship sank, they fell in love with the captain of the ship that attacked and doomed them đ„șđ„ș so sad lol. So they stay alive (?) to find them, not knowing that it has been far too longâŠ
As my wonderful fiancé said, art of the ship, art of the crew!
i don't care how 'cringe' or 'mary sue' you think your oc is. i think your oc is cool and i think you should talk about your oc more.
this applies to everyone

In yet another attempt to encourage people to post stuff about their ocs, I present: the Pirates OC Challenge! (I almost called it the POTC OC Challenge but that was too many Os and Cs.)
How to participate: - You can draw, write ficlets, or just talk about your character. (Or anything else you can make to fit each prompt - moodboards, edits, playlistsâŠ) - There is no specific date for this, and you donât have to do every day in a row. Feel free to tackle it whenever you have time and inspiration hits. - Tag this blog, @rascalsandscoundrels, and/or tag the posts #Pirates OC Challenge.

i love ocs. and this includes self-insert-adjacent ocs. wholeheartedly and unironically. if they are 100% an original sploinky doinky from your brain, thatâs great, i love the creativity - but also i genuinely find it delightful when someone looks at a work of fiction and is like, âok this is great, but you know what would make it better? someone like ME!â imo, they are correct more often than one might think.
and sometimes people really benefit from a power fantasy⊠i started writing my first potc fic, with an protagonist that was essentially a self-insert, when i was a lonely, bullied, insecure 13yo. to my great surprise, the type of praise i got the most was about how much people liked the protagonist, that she was funny and endearing. that was a boost i needed when i was surrounded by people irl who made me feel like a repulsive little creature that imposed on them by existing.
and then few years ago i wrote a fic for another fandom where the protagonist was a multiply disabled and nonbinary oc, and numerous people thanked me bc theyâd never read something with a character like that! if you donât write a character like yourself, nobody else will, yâknow?
also itâs just like. fun. itâs harmless fun. i donât believe in mary sues anymore, i truly donât. i used to be so paranoid about that, iâd run all the characters i made through the âmary sue litmus testâ and was careful to make sure they werenât too cool or beloved by canon charactersâŠ.thatâs so silly. down with that mindset. who cares if a character is extremely powerful and cool and a bunch of other characters are obsessed with them? that also describes, like, batman. who cares if itâs self indulgent literally all fanfic is self indulgent to some extent thatâs the POINT.Â
tl;dr ocs good
