I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.

It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.

I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.

pioneered “swinging the classics” and made the equivalent of a million dollars a year doing it.

was the first person of color to have their own national TV show.

went to Hollywood but refused to be cast as a “singing maid.” Demanded and got control over her casting, her wardrobe, and how footage featuring her was cut.

refused to perform in segregated venues and led charges for integration in several northern cities, notably Spokane.

She was brought down by the House Committee on Unamerican Activities, and has been largely forgotten. But she was a sorcerer, and a hero.

susato's love for machines is really endearing. she was the kid who loved trains... she just likes to see how things work, and all the neat finely-tuned cause-and-effect of all those parts working in tandem... it's like a puzzle where you can work to understand how each piece connects, and also like a puzzle, it's comfortingly rule-bound and rational. also it just looks cool. and trains can take you places (or bring back missing dads) (or bring back memories of grandmas).
