Hi! You can call me Rat! I am a 19 year old artist, and I've been drawing for a few years. I like various different games, shows, books, and many more! But you will absolutely find some of my interests here on my blog.

Trying to make a persona is so hard and evil but here's a little sneak peek if I ever get the urge to make some short daily comics!!

I really want to draw more this summer and I feel like larger projects might be the way to go, but we'll see

I went to my local wine shop, purchased a mid range bottle of champagne, put it on the top shelf of the fridge to chill, and will open it when it happens. And every day I open the fridge and see that bottle I will remember it might happen today, or it might not. But it will definitely happen some day.

In my fridge, in the door, is a bottle of the same bubbly my sister in law bought my spouse and me for our wedding. It’s queer branded, wrapped in a rainbow, and it is For The Occasion. Sometimes I touch the bottle and hope really, really hard.

Every time I go through the wine shop at the local fancy grocery I eyeball the champagne. Hard.

I don’t have my Bottle For The Occasion yet, but I am inspired by your excellent examples, and will go ahead and procure one.

And I’d like to add, because I am always conscious that some people do not partake of the spirits, that if you are looking for a non-alcoholic alternative to champagne that still feels fancy, Martinelli’s sparkling juice is delicious and comes in very pretty bottles and looks good in a champagne flute.

and your thing doesn't have to be a drink of any kind at ALL you can have some nice thing you're waiting to crack open to celebrate when it happens, whatever totem you want. it's just nice to have a physical reminder around the house that death comes for us all you know?

I cannot explain how much I hate the usage and the return of this word. Even if people have the right to reclaim it, genuinely even when they can I just feel pure disgust when people use it. There is no positive way to reclaim it, and it is still used to harm people today. If anything people have just used other words to replace the word when it was slightly less acceptable.

i do think the negative interpretations of "im probably nonbinary but i have a job right now" are kind of reaching. it's obviously a waste of time to theorize the op's intended meaning, so instead i think it's better to recognize how the phrase can be a useful framing device to criticize how much of a fucking hassle it is to get gendered correctly. "but i have a job" e.g. will face discrimination that could threaten livelihood; e.g. don't have the mental bandwidth to explain gender to others; e.g. don't have the time and energy for the soul-searching necessary to confirm. all three of these are labor issues. yes you could interpret it as "but being nonbinary isn't important enough to worry about", despite that being a blatantly bad-faith read. it's more useful to interpret it as "but being publicly nonbinary requires a lot of social effort that, in many cultural contexts, will create more problems that you can't afford to deal with". like cmon it's a really good jumping off point for productive conversations about queer labor rights
