Making movie Aliens (1986).
i think its actually kind of cool really how burke is one of the few villains universally hated. like so many other villians people empathize with and make excuses for and don’t want to see die or get whats coming to them. it actually speaks volumes to how well he was played and written that everyone fist pumps at the scene where the thing gets him in the lab.
Burke, the guy you love to hate. You’re welcome, world.
this blog is 95% trash, 5% strong female characters threatening physical harm to burke.

“Uhhm, well, ah...” he’s backing up, hand falling away and holding up his briefcase as if it could somehow be a force-field or build up a wall exactly where he stood. Needless to say, this was not so. So much for attempting to be friendly.
RIGHT, r i g h t . So that’s when it clicked. “Oh--! Uh, well, right that’s- that’s right, I must’ve just- I mean, it’s a big company. Names come up. Private contractors, competing programs. I’m sure I- I must’ve seen it somewhere. I’m sure it’s... nothing.”
Hi, would you like to poison your girlfriend? Or convince her she's clinically insane? Either would do nicely. We'll pay you. *hands business card* Think about it, we'll be in touch.
Jaw like I have a gun on my person. Glare like how interested are you in death? Disinterested head tilt like little man, I know I am a little woman, but you will suffer if I so will it. So, instead, relax like shoulders drop, back eases, posture the kind of relaxed a snake makes sidewinding until it bites.
“You’re a Mr. Carter Burke, correct?”
Correct. She doesn’t smile. She won’t even feign her congenial attitude when approached, won’t even lie smoothly like the viper she can be. Here, she’ll give the gentleman her hard, unkind neutrality, nasty like a Siamese cat.
She takes the business card, tears it neatly in half, in quarters, into eighths and shreds, and sprinkles it over the table like snow.
“If you choose to remain in touch I cannot guarantee I will stifle my right as an American with a license to conceal and carry that enables me to shoot you when I feel you’re threatening my family. Are we clear, Mr. Burke?”
It was apparent that this little man knew nothing of her species’ capability through genetic memories. She’d been born a good time after the Hadley’s Hope incident, but she knew faces and intentions. Like that one woman, the one with fire and curly hair and a little girl, who had blown the Queen in that complex into space through an airlock. And she knew the face of this one - the one who wanted to keep her kind for experimentation, his own gain which she was sure of.
Pulling her lips back to reveal sharp, silvery fangs that glimmered in a deadly smile, the Spitter-Queen let out another low hiss.
|| —— “Now why would I want to help a little creature like you?”
Her voice seemed to ring throughout the room, but her lips never moved. An advanced version of telepathy for her kind, it seemed.
He stumbled back at the hiss. And he nearly flew out of his skin as an echoing voice filled seemingly all corners of the room. He looked around, trying to determine where it was coming from. The words themselves hardly registered, other than being menacing. Slowly, Burke arched his head back to the queen creature, arms and hands which were curled against his chest, a finger reaching out to point at her.
“That, that... Was that was you?”
“Private First Class Leo Silvers, of the Colonial Marine Corps. Second Battalion, Bravo Team. For your information. Come on, Grub, try to keep up.”
“Oh...” Another grunt, fantastic. “Right, well---- you clearly have, have been misinformed, Private.”
“I never… k i l l e d anybody.”
“ . . seriously, man . . ? . . You’re kidding me, right?”
“What, What does that even-- what do you mean? No, I’m not kid-- Who even are you?"
If Weyland had already cured cancer that proves that Amanda’s death paperwork in Aliens is a cover up. They probably knew, or where banking on, that Ripley didn’t know about that scientific advancement. Not to mention in the picture they gave Ripley that woman looks way too old for that timeline. Definitely a badly and quickly thrown together cover up by The Company because they never in a million years thought Ellen Ripley would come back. They thought their trouble with the Ripley girls were finally over. Amanda, captured, tucked away, and still in cryo from being ejected after Sevestapool was blown up, and Ellen’s lifeboat probably had been sabotaged by Ash in the last few seconds he was connected (probably why he asked for “last words”, even, so he could distract the crew as he hacked into MUTHER one last time).
Totally a cover up. They’re both still alive. Shush, you can’t tell me otherwise.
“I never... k i l l e d anybody.”
@thedestrcyer· | angry cat lady.
Arms cross over Ripley’s chest. She looks livid; jaw locked, muscles in her neck working. Here’s the thing: Amanda Ripley is her whole entire universe - her other half. She didn’t fight to survive the alien just to come home to nothing. Everything inside of her is raging at that thought. At the moment; she’s staring, unable to truly process much of anything. When did her life become a complete horrific, shit storm? She should have never left (never left). “———- There’s a chance my daughter might be alive?” Anger is still in the raspy bits of her tone, but she’s quiet. There’s your resolve, Burke. Take it.
“There’s uhm… y e a h – there’s a chance. But listen, kiddo, I… I don’t want you to get yourself set up for disappointment, okay? Those holding chambers were, er-ah,experimental at best. I… I’m honestly not sure why someone would be…” he’s just shrugging, now, hands moving about like if you cut the head off a chicken and let the body run.
“I am not sure if I should be thanking you amigo…so who are you? Corporate guy huh??”

“No, no, yeah, it was, uh... definitely not an insult.” What? “Yeah, uh, yeah,” he fumbles to pull out his tele-card and hands it over, “Carter Burke. Company special projects director. But, ah, don’t- don’t let that f o o l you. Really I’m an okay guy.” Scripted as hell.
