Percy Weasley is actually one of the most interesting characters in Harry Potter because he represents abject the horror of being the “good child” in a family where literal chaos is the currency of love.

Like. Imagine being born into the Weasley clan: Fred and George, literal walking fireworks; Ginny, the baby and only girl, adored by everyone; Ron, Harry Potter’s bestie (which is like being the drummer in the Beatles); Bill, effortlessly cool curse-breaker with dragon bite scars; Charlie, dragon guy with the vibes of a jock who lifts logs for fun. And then there’s Percy. Middle child. Glasses. Prefect badge. The one who gets made fun of for… caring too much.

Percy’s whole deal is that he decided “Fine. If I can’t be funny or cool or adored, I will be Useful™.” And he threw himself into that role so hard it became a personality. The rules? Followed. The Ministry? Idolized. Authority? Obsessed with. Because to him, approval = love.

But here’s the kicker: Percy’s downfall is not arrogance. It’s loneliness. He thinks if he just works hard enough and impresses the right people and keeps everything perfect then finally he’ll be seen. But in the process he alienates himself from his family, who don’t understand that beneath the pompous speeches and Ministry talk is just a kid who wants someone to tell him they’re proud without laughing after.

I will defend him forever, man. People thought he was a jerk but he just wanted to been seen🫠

So, I’m not quite sure what your preference is when it comes to drawing. So I have two you can take your pick from. Either from the first chapter when Michael meets/sees Splinter and the Turtles for the first time when they were freshly mutated. Or that first scene when Michael is a turtle cocoon curled up by the heater under a pile of blankets with Splinter sitting next to him.

If it’s not obvious, I love splinter, and I wanted to see him with Michael. 😅

okay so lwk gonna shoot my shot at what each of these mean:

Mikey- The song has a sound that fits his vibe- light and giggly and warm- but when you listen to the lyrics he’s longing for a softer time when he felt protected and the world felt happier and safer. It’s joyful, yet melancholic and longing for a past long gone. Maybe the arms he longs for are both Splinters (cus he dies lol) and Micheal’s cus there’s gonna be some drama there and if Mai is angry with his big bros then he probs isn’t with the 2012s- so they’re basically alone and adult figureless for a while??

Raph- tonally the song is brash, angry and matching with his exterior and how he presents his emotions. Although, underneath this, there is (similar to Mikey) a sense of longing, but instead of looking back he’s looking forward. I would say this plays off the typical inferiority complex that Raph has to Leo in most forms of Tmnt media- but alternatively, because there’s not as much of that tension between leo and him so far in this version, it might instead be about how Micheal almost takes his role as protector and just keeps leaving them(him) behind- when it his turn to step in and protect them like he’s worked so hard for? But also lwk idk he doesn’t seem all too bitter at Mai- just desperate- so it might be his relationship with leo.

Leo: Leo my queen there is so much pressure on the leader, I would say there is a literal element here of him feeling like he is walking a tightrope- always toeing the line between the greater good and how much he’s willing to risk for his family. Vibes wise, the song is dramatic yet calm and feels restrained in an almost climactic way. It is unsure despite the certainty within the words. I appreciate that it’s a song from a movie- because I think this reflects how leo views the world- intense with one right plot and a set path to follow.

Donnie: of course this is Donnie’s song, he’s struggling to piece it all together with so much pressure on himself to fix everything. The song is desperate and feels like it’s building pressure the whole time - repeating lyrics like a downward mental spiral. In some ways Micheal lifts a burden off the roles of all the other brothers, but he’s not really able to relieve much of Donnie’s pressure from his role. It’s still Donnie’s job to fix it all, run the tech and do some crazy level chemistry- Mai can’t help with that the way he looks after them emotionally with Mikey, protects them like Raph and provides a big bothers support to Leo’s leadership.
