juggling several bags of (cheap, how was it so cheap?) food plus a bow, a quiver full of arrows, and a large bag holding the rest of his modest collection of belongings all at once was an incredibly illogical idea. as made evident by the fact that one wrong step resulted in the bottom of a bag tearing open, dumping groceries all over the sidewalk. ❝ … great. ❞
Raven stopped in her tracks, jumping back a little as a pile of groceries scattered along the sidewalk, a couple of things knocking into the front of her heels. “Ooh. Do you need help with those?” she asked, wincing as she looked at the torn bottom of the bag.
karma gave the person standing before a narrowed look. from her spot on the grass, she shook her head, looking back at the math homework she had laid out in front her. “ unless you know the pythagorean theorem, i suggest you walk away. “
"The What Theorem? That sounds....really advanced. Or like something Cupid should be studying.”
she had that cat in her arms, buttercup. why? because he was prim’s best friend and the only thing that can reminds that she had a sister and now she was gone but at least they are in a little good terms, he wasn’t going to scratch her and she wasn’t going to hunt him “i don’t get it. how in hell i arrived here” she muttered to herself, looking around.
"Hey, you ok? Are you and your cat lost?”
“I’m sorry, do I look like I’m in the mood for a chat?”
"Okaaay, sorry, didn’t meant to bug you by walking by.”
“No! These were supposed to be thornless!” She shouted quickly dropping the bundle to the ground as she looked at them in dismay only happy that she’d managed to spot them before sticking herself. Spotting a stranger she shifted awkwardly for a moment, “Um— could you pick those up for me?”
Hearing a familiar voice, Raven turned and broke into a grin when she recognized the source. “Briar!” she exclaimed, walking over and picking up the bundle of roses. “When did you get here? Did you trip into the Wishing Well, too?”
Thumbelina smiled lightly and picked up her skirt as she carefully stepped onto the offered hand. “Oh, I’m not a fairy. I knew a fairy though…” She notes a look of sadness crossing her features for a moment until she shook it off to focus on the question. “I was wondering if you could help me figure out where I was so I could get home.”
Raven squinted for a moment as she looked down at the small girl in her hand, wracking her brain for something. Then, it clicked. “Oh! You must be Thumbelina! Or...her daughter? Um, you’re in a place called Magnolia. If you’re trying to get back to Ever After, you’re kinda out of luck right now. Lizzie’s book to tell us where the Wishing Well is isn’t working and my magic’s gone a little haywire here.”
“I’ll be right back! But don’t laugh when I come out!” As much as Apple hated to admit it she had to wear her glasses sometimes, and now being one of those times. She didn’t want to hurt herself by falling or hitting her head because she couldn’t see. So she disappeared around the corner to her room for a moment and took the glasses from her nightstand. She shivered a bit at the thought of wearing these frames with her outfit but she put them on anyway and looked into the mirror. She really wished she had her magic mirror with her so it’d compliment her and make her feel better. But alas that wasn’t the case. She didn’t want to wear them, especially in front of Raven because she’s never seen her wear them. Apple makes sure whenever she does wear them no one is around.
She rushed back out of her room when the music began to play and she recognized it as Tailor Quick. She’s heard the songs a few times where Ashlynn worked so she knew most if not all the lyrics. “What do you think?” She mused, gesturing to her white frames.
Raven raised an eyebrow curiously as Apple raced off for a moment. For a second, she worried that maybe Apple felt more awkward than she let on, that she simply wanted to get back to the safety or her room. A moment later, however, her friend reappeared, this time, wearing her glasses. Raven couldn’t help but let out a laugh of disbelief. After all this time watching her poor friend squint at everything, Raven doubted she would ever bother wearing her glasses. Things really had changed.
“I think they look cute as hex on you,” Raven commented, pausing from the music momentarily. “Really, you pull ‘em off well. And seeing is actually in fashion. Just so you know.”
“Holy crap! That is wicked! What’s it like?” He was pretty excited to say the least. “Well uh.. I dunno. It just sort of.. happened.”
"Well, like I said, it’s a liiiittle creepy looking. My mom liked to keep the place looking all evil. And y’know, some of it looks really cool. But since my mom’s been gone the castle is pretty chill. My dad and I only keep the basic staff around and we’re close with them, so it’s nice. A little cold, though. Just sort of happened? Is this place close to Jump City or did you completely miss the mark?”
“Well, you do have the hair. Oh but you are not evil?”
"I mean, kinda? But Snow White isn’t really supposed to have a lot of purple in her hair. Trust me, though, if you saw my friend, you’d know she’s the daughter of Snow White. And no, definitely not evil. If I was, you’d probably be a toad or a snake or something by now.”
“Magnolia…” She repeated the name slowly, trying to come to terms with the fact that she was alive. Turns out that curse really didn’t work as well as she was lead to believe. “I don’t… think so.” She replied, rubbing her head as a headache started to form. “Have you seen anyone around named Bonnie? Or even Damon? I really need to find them.”
"Uh...no, I don’t know anyone by those names. But how long have you been in that coffin? Do you know? Or, at least remember how that happened? If so, we might be able to figure something out.”
“Then manipulate your parents to agree with you. Your mom should love that, shouldn’t she? She’s in prison? That’s a thing? Wow. Oh, she does not, at least not that I know. But it wouldn’t honestly surprise me if she were. Cleaning fairies? Cleaning spell? Can I marry you and inherit your powers? It does work like that, doesn’t it? Or can I just hire a cleaning fairy? How would I pay them in the first place? Do they get paid? They better.” Stiles stopped himself before he asked even more questions. “Well, not every princess needs a prince though. How is she trying to get you to poison her? Does she poison her own apple and give it to you to give to her or how does that work?”
"Oh, she would love that. But that’s exactly why I’d rather not do it that way. Then I’d just be doing what everyone expects from me. Yeah, prison is a thing in Ever After. Hey, maybe I’ll ask Lizzie and see if she knows her.” Raven teased, letting out a laugh. “What’s your queen’s name, anyway? Haha, funny, but no, it doesn’t work like that. I’d offer to do a cleaning spell for you, but my magic doesn’t seem to be reacting well to whatever magic’s here, if there is any. Cleaning fairies do get paid, though, by whichever family hires them. Yeah, you’re right, not every princess does need a prince. They can also have princesses, or witches, or no one at all. Oh, no, nothing like that. But she’d be upset if I apologized for anything, decorated my room with some spella evil looking decor, tried to talk me into poisoning the cake I baked for her birthday, things like that.”
“that’s actually really cool to think about. Thanks for spreading some light on that for me, I’m Zoey by the way. Zoey Redbird.”
“Hey, no problem. It’s common knowledge where I’m from, but that’s because everyone’s from a story or going to be in a story. Here, it doesn’t seem like that’s the case, so it’s only natural people wouldn’t think of it that way. I like your name, Zoey. I’m Raven Queen.”
She rolled her eyes and kept dancing and singing the words to the song. Seeing Raven join in only made her happier. The tension in the room was completely gone for the time being and that made all of this tons easier on her. She liked being able to feel comfortable around her, she preferred it, but ever since Apple told her that she had feelings for her and the response wasn’t a very typical one, things immediately just got harder. So yeah, she’d try to prolong this moment for as long as she possibly could.
A few times, she almost stumbled into a lamp here and there, and that was half because she was flying blind without her glasses and half because she was going crazy with her dancing. When the song finished she smiled brightly and clapped her hands together. “That was fun! Let’s go another!!”
Even if Raven wasn’t the biggest One Reflection fan, she wouldn’t pass up this opportunity when finally, things felt normal between her and Apple again. Except for, maybe, the fact that her heart kept doing little flips whenever she looked up at Apple, but she could ignore that right now. Things were just normal right now. Every now and then, she stopped singing to warn Apple about nearly bumping into things, but at least nothing serious happened.
“Ok, if you insist. But this time, we’re going with Taylor Quick. And try not to fall over.” She laughed as she started playing again. This time, she wasn’t ashamed of knowing the notes and words perfectly, and she belted them out even louder.
“yeah, their mainly just blessings from our Goddess- wait, never seen them on a Vampyre? That’s weird… every Vampyre i know has atleast the face ones.” Zoey frowned “Oh, isn’t she in a story book though? I mean, i’m not doubting you, i’ve seen some weird bullpoopie but that’s pretty cool.”
"Huh, well, they don’t where I’m from. And yeah, she’s in a storybook. But y’know, everyone in a storybook is real. Otherwise, where would the stories come from?”
“Snow White story, so you are her daughter or something like that?”
"What? No, do I look like I’m the daughter of Snow White? That’s Apple, my friend. My mom’s the Evil Queen.”
