Y'all need to watch Youth and Consequences on YouTube Red.
Youth and Consequences is LITERALLY the first YouTube Red show I paid for and watched in full (because YouTube Red isn’t available in the UK so I had to pay for each episode instead of using the free trial) and it was worth every penny.
The first two free episodes admittedly aren’t as great as the rest of the season (8 half-hour episodes total) but it’s worth it. The lead (played by Anna Akana) seems like your typical alpha bitch, but she’s wayyy more humane. She knows what’s right and isn’t afraid to take action. Hell, every character has many layers to them. While it might seem like your typical high school show with 20-30 somethings playing teenagers, it’s much more than that.
ALSO! Representation is always a positive for me, and there are TONS of POC in this cast! As an Asian guy, seeing Anna Akana playing the lead was so great because I’ve never seen a lead character like hers being played by an Asian actor before. Also, the fact that there are no race-specific stereotypes and jokes in this series makes it even better.
I’m not the best writer in terms of expressing my opinions but still you guys gotta watch it. We need to blast this show (in a positive way), get tons of people to watch, and possibly get a season 2!
I knew that I wasn’t straight, but I didn’t know if I was gay, I didn’t know if I was bisexual - I didn’t feel comfortable having that conversation with myself. I was 20 when I came out the first time. It got to a point where I had fallen in love with a friend, and one of my other best friends had sort of noticed. And there were rumors going around in the dance world back home. It was breaking my heart. I was going crazy and I didn’t know what to do. I was lying and lying and lying, and doing everything I could to hold on to my secret. Because I hadn’t figured it out yet, and so it felt like everyone else was deciding it for me and they knew better than I did. It was really scary.
