Got this lovely collection of photos from a dance friend 🌟 Fan veils aren't my specialty, but I've spent the last year working to improve my technique with them.

I may have put them together, grabbed them in the wrong hands.....and then also subsequently threw one on the floor when trying to open them, but these things happen! I was a little bit into the song, so I just kept going with a single fan veil after that. 😂

I'm still proud of my work and my lines! I'll always be improving as an artist, so I like to share these different aspects of my journey. Not everything is perfect, and props can have a mond of their own at times....but that's the joy of live art!

It never fails that I schedule an outdoor spring video or photoshoot on what -should- be a sunny, nice day ....

And then it's COLLLLLD! Or rainy! Or something else not great! 😂

Anyways, I took a selfie because I actually quite liked the orange/blue situation & discovered magnetic lashes that work without glue. They're amazing, stayed on in the wind and also didn't budge when I inevitably got hair stuck in them while dancing..... 10/10 recommend. 😎

Now, to figure out how to keep curls in my hair for longer than 5 minutes....

I happened to take him to a dog meet-up & they offered photos. I didn't realize they were holiday themed, but I think this turned out absolutely fantastic... 🤣

Honestly, I still and probably always will struggle I'm with imposter syndrome. But next time I feel that way, I am coming back and looking at this photo to remind myself that my dance is valid, beautiful, and always evolving/growing.

Little behind the scenes crafting. Working on hand-making a strap for a friend's bedlah!

This was my first time sewing anything in a long time, and probably only my....second time using a sewing machine. I'm quite pleased with how the strap itself turned out.

For the beading, I am still waiting on some additional supplies to come in, but this is my progress so far. I'm quite pleased with how it's turned out so far. The beadwork took about 2-3ish hours in total. A true labor of love! ❤️

2- الصَّبابةُ: (‘A’ssibaba): Longing to the loved one when they are not present.

3- الهَوَى: (‘Al Hawa):When you put the loved one’s needs first.

4- العَلاقَة: (‘Al “Alaaqa) Love which is inseparable from the heart.

5- الجَوَى: (‘Al Jawa”) Love that can cause illness and distress.

6- الخُلَّة: (‘Al “Khulla)  love that harbours no ill feelings, derived from “Khaleel.

7- الكِْف: (‘Al Kilf): Love that can distract the heart and overwhelm it.

8- العِشْق: (‘Al “Ishq): To exceed the limits of love. Often translated as Adulation.

9- الشَّغَف: (‘Aša”ghaf) Love that overtakes the darkness of the heart. Often translated as Passion.

10- الشَّعَف: (‘Aša”af):  Love that can kill.

11- التَّيْم: (‘Attaym): Love that can drive the lover crazy.

12- البَتَل: (‘Al Batal): Love that defeats the lover.

13- الوَلَه: (‘Al Walah): Love that if lost drives the lover into mindlessness.

14- الهِيام: (‘Al Hiyam): Love that drives the lover into mindlessness.

Long time, no blog!

Trying to get myself back in the swing of sharing things on various platforms again. Juggling the art of dance instructor, choreographer, and performer while having a day job can be difficult without the entire online presence situation added into the mix. This bird is tired! But I shall persist because I strive to share my art and inspire people along the way. Sooooo, I'm back and plan to be a bit more active here again. 🖤

My Latest Practice

I recently rehearsed for a Golden Era inspired set including a few traditional props. While I normally will toss my veil out of the way on the stage floor during my sets, my living room has limited space for all of that extra fabric. So, here's a photo of my dog napping (or trying to) after I draped my veil on him. He's such a good boy. 🥹🖤
