When I was writing the Fortnight music video, I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music. Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets). I still can’t believe I get to work with the unfathomably brilliant Rodrigo Prieto on cinematography and my team of dream collaborators: Ethan Tobman (production design), Chancler Haynes (editor), Anthony Dimino (1st AD), Jil Hardin (producer) and Dom Thomas (executive producer). Parliament aced the VFX as always. Joseph Cassell, Lorrie Turk and Jemma Muradian made these tortured looks come to life. The entire crew made this a dream to shoot. I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken. It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly. The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independence, and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability and hopelessness. Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past. And this is all to say, that the next album I’ll be releasing is my version of Red.

Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way.

Sometimes you need to talk it over (over and over and over) for it to ever really be… over. Like your friend who calls you in the middle of the night going on and on about their ex, I just couldn’t stop writing. This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even ten minutes long.

Red (Taylor’s Version) will be out November 19.

karlie was the first to hear 1989, karlie was present at 1989 secret sessions, karlie was taylor’s date to the knick’s game which was a major promotional night for taylor and 1989, karlie went shopping with taylor for swiftmas gifts, karlie helped wrap and package swiftmas gifts, karlie recorded taylor wrapping gifts and taylor put ‘you are in love’ as the soundtrack for the video, karlie walked in the VSFS in both of taylor’s segments and karlie called her an honorary angel, karlie was taylor’s date to the AMAs where she won the dick clark award and performed blank space for the first time on a live televised event, karlie was part of taylor’s iconic vogue spread that recreated their big sur road trip aka the trip of taylor’s life, karlie taught taylor how to strut down the runway on her 1989 tour, karlie’s video footage of taylor made it into an exclusive ‘karlie kam’ section of the 1989 world tour dvd, immortalizing karlie as a part of the 1989 tour experience

all of this is just to say that there is no 1989 era without karlie kloss, you cannot remove her from the narrative, and i just wanna know when any other person in taylor’s life was this actively involved in both her personal life and her career at the same time? in summary, please bring back 2014 kaylor because they were at the height of their beautiful and supportive relationship/friendship/callitwhatyouwant and i miss all of this
