Fuck you, Ernest Hemingway…
New comic! (link)
This is not a joke. People right now ask me how I’ve been and I’m like ‘bought this sweet dish rack. Also a garbage bin! Living the high life.’
I have become just so fucking interesting in my adult years.
If there’s one thing that defines our generation in relation to our recent forebears, it’s how much more fucking broke most of us are.
It’s kinda sick that I was the Queen of dinner parties in my 20s because THAT’S HOW I COULD BE SURE MY FRIENDS WERE ACTUALLY EATING GOOD FOOD BECAUSE THEY WERE SO FUCKING POOR.
LIKE, I DON’T WANNA BRAG BECAUSE THIS IS HOW FUCKING SICK OUR SOCIETY IS BUT I’M PRETTY SURE I KEPT AT LEAST 30 PEOPLE FEED THROUGHOUT MY 20S AT VARIOUS POINTS. I PUT SO MUCH FUCKING EFFORT INTO MAKING SURE I MAKE THEM SOMETHING TASTY AND RELATIVELY NUTRITIOUS EVEN WHEN I HAD ONLY LIKE, A CAN OF SAUCE AND PASTA IN MY PANTRY (I KNOW I KNOW MY ITALIAN IS SHOWING).
I FEEL LIKE I DON’T HAVE DINNER PARTIES ANYMORE BECAUSE MY IMMEDIATE FRIEND’S GROUP CAN LIKE, AFFORD FOOD NOW. AND THAT’S FUCKED UP.
Sorry. The beginning of this new century has been supremely awful to a lot of people I love.
Fun Facts About The Nightmare Before Christmas Movie pt 1
Reasons why this is still one of the coolest films ever.
This film is the reason I’m a filmmaker and Tim burton is my favorite director
Also a fun fact:
Tim Burton did not direct The Nightmare Before Christmas
Henry Selick never gets the credit he deserves for this movie, and Coraline (which he also directed) never gets the credit it deserves for being total genius.

It’s finally, finally here *___* After months of work, Here’s my first comic ever, “Ozymandias”, based on the poem by Percy Shelley. If you want to support me, you can buy a hi-res PDF of the comic, along with some sketches, a very small 1 page tutorial, and the full-res PSD on gumroad for 2 dollars here:

Morning reblog! Thank you so much for all the love and support already. It’s seriously incredible!!! And I’m 100% going to be making more comics after this ;)

So this is it. My grad work. Finally I am posting this.
It’s called "Ab ovo", which can be vaguely translated from Latin as “from the very beginning”. It’s a classic tapestry woven using cotton, wool, acryle, lurex and god knows what else, which measures 2,2 x 3,3 m and took me about 6 months of on and off work.
This is the largest work I’ve ever made and, by far, the most labor intensive. It received highly positive reviews during the grad show and was graded A+ by the board. After all the effort, I really was so, so relieved.
Don’t you mind me, I’m just there for scale : ) (But do check out my dress!)
Awesome!
Breaking news: The D.C. Appeals Court just killed Net Neutrality. This could be the end of the Internet as we know it. But it doesn’t have to be. Tell the FCC to restore Net Neutrality: http://bit.ly/1iOOjoe
they want to make the internet like tv. with channels and paying to get to specific websites and things. net neutrality = not doing that
This impacts every internet user. Please signal boost the hell out of this and sign the petition if you are American
I do not reblog things like this very often, but this affects me both personally and my business as a freelance artist.
In the economy here; cash is already strapped as it is. You bet your ass companies would suck the ever living life out of misc. art sites.
I don’t want it to ever come down to me choosing between groceries or purchasing a new tier package via comcast to be able to access tumblr or DeviantArt (let alone not guaranteeing I’ll even be seen by my customer base since they may not want to pay out their asses either). It doesn’t seem important to most, but I do 90% of my business online entirely.
Please sign up, fight for this and share it with your followers/friends/family and urge them to give them hell as well.
Not writing related, but this is incredibly important. While we pay for service via ISPs, the internet has been a relatively free space where everyone, no matter their income level, is able to connect, access a wealth of information, and express themselves. The Internet has become a major part of our culture as human beings and the notion that ISPs might be able to limit what sites I can access unless I pay them more is utterly sickening. A lot of us are cash strapped as is, and I’d rather not be limited even more by someone else’s greed. Net Neutrality is essential and I hope you guys will understand why it needs to remain.

P.S. Signal boost this if you’re able.

Hemingway and James Joyce were drinking buddies in Paris. Joyce was thin and bespectacled; Hemingway was tall and strapping. When they went out Joyce would get drunk, pick a fight with a bigger guy in the bar and then hide behind Hemingway and yell, “Deal with him, Hemingway. Deal with him.”

Between this and the story about him reassuring F. Scott Fitzgerald re dick size, I’m developing a picture of Hemingway as the mother hen of the disaffected white male literary set of the early 20th century.
He probably called up Steinbeck sometimes and was like I CAN’T EVEN WITH THESE DIPSHITS and Steinbeck was all “That’s what you get for living in Paris, asshole”.

Coulson NAILS this situation. Because Grant had the opportunity to make choices and he made the wrong ones. And Grant ISN’T a monster, but he betrayed people who cared about him to aide one. What Grant is going to have to live with is his own failure. The failure to evaluate what he was doing and say “this is wrong”. Grant bet on the wrong horse. It might have seemed like the only option he had at the time, but he had plenty of chances to change his mind. That’s what will haunt Grant. Grant let himself be turned into a weapon for a man who was a deranged monster and THAT’S the part that’s on Grant. Now the weapon is without an owner and Grant is going to have to take a hard look at what sort of person does what he did. And whether there’s anything salvageable in that. It’s the very fact that Grant still does have humanity to him that will make that the worst punishment. He destroyed the trust of the very people who really did have his best interest at heart and he’s going to have to face that. He had the choice between them and a person who only viewed him for his usefulness and he picked so, so wrong. And Grant isn’t stupid. I hope he wrestles with this forever. I hope if they’re giving him a road to redemption, it’s a hard one and he has to EARN their trust again (and even then it will never be the same). Because that’s only realistic. They would be fools to welcome him back into the fold easily and he would have no redemption if he doesn’t face his own demons and realize how horrifically he screwed up.
