Aaravos x Under Appreciated Maid Reader
You rolled your eyes before turning around and plastering on a fake smile, “Yes Lord Viren, What can I do for you?”
“The dungeon is absolutely filthy, clean it.”
“Of course Lord Viren,” You groaned internally. You always get stuck with the worst jobs, mainly because all of the other maids were valued over you. Sometimes you wished you could smite them with magic, but you were to nice to ever actually hurt anyone.
King Harrow used to have you clean his room, you would even dare to say that the two of you were friends. But after he was killed, you were downgraded and treated as if you were nothing. You honestly doubted that anyone knew your name.
Grabbing some cleaning supplies, you made your way down to the dungeon. You were surprised Lord Viren even cared about the condition of the cells. It’s not like anyone was down here.
You instinctively reached down to grasp the leather bracelet around your wrist. The leather had spiral patterns printed into it, and in the center is what you assume is a primal stone. You truly didn’t know if that’s what it was, it seemed far to small and allowed you to do more than just elemental magic. There were swirls of orange, green, and blue in it. You were given this bracelet as a child and learned to control its magic. It was your most prized possession.
Making sure to lock the door behind you, you willed the cleaning supplies to move themselves and clean. You watched with slight amusement as the broom and dustpan bumped into each other before figuring out how to work together. You took an extra broom and decided to clean out one of the closed cells. As you entered the room you were surprised to find a chair in one corner of the room and something covered with a sheet in the other. You were even more surprised to feel magic radiating off the the covered object.
Slowly you walk over and pull off the sheet. All you see behind it is a mirror. Your brows furrow as you try to understand why you feel magic emanating from a mirror. Closing your eyes, you place your hand on the mirror and ask it to show you what it’s hiding. You feel your energy start to drain from you, whatever this is, it takes a lot of magic to change. You open your eyes to see that the reflection of yourself had been replaced by a man with skin that looks like a galaxy. You watch as he tends to a fire before he looks you right in the eyes. He walks over to you and you swear that you can see him smirk at the shocked look on your face. He quickly pulls out supplies for what you think is a ritual that bonds two souls. He gives you a pointed look as if to tell you to get the supplies he has. You shake your head. You know what these rituals do. They bond you together and allow you to speak to each other over long distances, but they also allow the other person to take control of your actions.
You however are still quite curious about this man. You know it will probably take more energy than you have, but you want to put a speaking spell on the mirror, that way you can talk to him. For the time being though, you’ll have to wait. You wave goodbye to the man and finish cleaning before searching for your spell supplies.
You had your bag with your spell book in it on your shoulder when Lord Viren stops you once again, “Maid!”
“Yes Lord Viren?” You ask, turning to him.
“You did well cleaning the dungeon, for now on you will be the only one to clean it.” You nod your head at his command. If you were going to be cleaning the dungeon from now on, you hope that you and the man in the mirror will get along.
When you reached the dungeon you headed straight for the room with the mirror. You pulled off the sheet and were shocked to see the man still standing there. He looked smug and motioned to the objects in front of him once more. You shook your head head and gave him a smirk of your own. You placed your hand on your bracelet and closed your eyes before muttering an incantation. You once again felt fatigued. This mirror likes to take away your energy.
The star speckled man in front of you looked confused when you opened your eyes. You offered him a soft smile, “Hello.”
You saw his confusion change to shock as he heard your voice, “What? How can I hear you? I haven’t heard another voice in a such a long time.”
The depth of his voice surprised you, you hadn’t heard anyone who sounded like him before. You quickly shook of the surprise and waved, “My name is (Y/N), I used a spell to allow our voices to travel through the mirror. Although, I did have a selfish reason for it,” The man in the mirror looked slightly disappointed at your words, “I have to clean the dungeon all by myself and I want some company.”
His disappointment turned to what seemed like joy, “My name is Aaravos, and I would be honored to keep you company.”
You slowly found yourself enjoying the days that you would clean the dungeon. Aaravos told you stories about himself and about Xadia. You told him about your mundane adventures as a maid. He told you jokes to make you laugh on bad days. He also made sure that you knew he appreciated you. You also found yourself with a crush on him. You however pushed it to the back of your mind not wanting to think about something that couldn’t happen.
Aaravos confided in you. The day he told you why he was in the mirror was a heartbreaking one. It was a punishment because he enjoyed harming and manipulating others. People were afraid of him. He told you that he felt bad, he was sorry that he ever hurt anyone. You met his eyes and you saw the truth of his words shining in his eyes. You trusted him.
It was after that when you started looking through your spell book. There had to be something that would free him, right? When you finally found the right spell you jumped for joy. You did however see how much energy the spell would take to complete. It recommend killing forest creatures to take their energy, you however were vehemently against that. You decided you would do it with your own energy, no matter what harm would come to you.
Throwing caution to the wind, the day after you found the spell you bounded down into the dungeon.
“What are you doing here? You aren’t supposed to be back until tomorrow,” you heard a familiar smooth voice say.
“I found something,” you whispered out while facing Aaravos. You suddenly were nervous, what if you weren’t able to do this? What if you disappointed him?
“Well… what is it?” He asked you with a sarcastic grin on his face.
“I think I might be able to let you out of the mirror.” You held your breath as you waited for his response.
You watched as his face went from confused, to happy, to fearful. “At what cost?”
“At what cost? I don’t want you to get hurt to let me out,” You saw fire in his eyes. You knew that the only thing he wanted was for you to be safe.
“It’ll take quite a bit of energy from me, but I think I’ll be okay,” You shivered under his scrutinizing gaze.
“…Okay, but if it is too much for you, please stop,” You met his eyes and smiled.
You quickly set up a ring of candles before starting the spell. As you spoke you felt the energy leave you, this was going to be more difficult than you thought. However, you were far to determined to stop. You saw the mirror shake, and Aaravos looked almost like he was going in an out of reality. The spell was almost over, but you felt like you had no strength.
After finishing the last line of the spell you collapsed on the ground, you only hoped this worked. The pain flowing through your body was overwhelming. You felt like moving was a bad idea, and you were suddenly very aware of how much energy was drained from you. You felt yourself drift in and out of consciousness, the pain and exhaustion wasn’t a good pair. Overwhelmed with excruciating pain and exhaustion, you eventually passed out.
During the spell everything had gone dark for Aaravos. When he could finally see, all he saw was you unconscious on the floor. His first thought was that you had died and it was all his fault. He immediately kneeled on the ground so he could hold you. He was relieved when he felt a slight pulse and could feel you faintly breathing. He placed his left hand on your forehead and gave some of his energy to you. He prayed that you would wake up.
When your (e/c) eyes met his yellow ones, relief flooded through him. However, when he moved slightly and you yelled in pain his fear came back. He placed his hand on your forehead again, but your half conscious self knew that he was going to use his magic to try and heal you. You grabbed his arm and pulled his hand away from your head.
“(Y/N), let me help you.” He told you somewhat sternly.
You finally could comprehend that the spell had worked and Aaravos was free and trying to take care of you. You also understood that he was afraid that something was very wrong with you. Realizing that Aaravos was holding you on his lap and that your back was rested against his chest, you slowly turned to look at him. You grimaced as you felt pain shoot threw you, but you were determined to show Aaravos you were okay.
“Hey, stop moving, you’ll hurt yourself.”
You saw so many emotions in Aaravos’ eyes. You saw joy from being let out, compassion, but the most prominent emotion was fear. You placed your hand on his face and the fear in his eyes washed away. Deciding that you should take a risk since you were fairly certain that you had almost died, you pulled his head down slightly and pressed a kiss to his lips. A faint blush covered his cheeks once you pulled away. He then leaned in to give you a gentle kiss once more. It was a needy kiss, but also one that was full of love and adoration.
Yeah, you preferred Aaravos out of his mirror.
