During the Dragonsong war, Rayla found herself in the midst of Ishgard helping with the efforts against the Dravanians. The judgemental stares of The Holy See's high-borns were not unnoticed by the Raen - and it left a distaste in her mouth for the high-borns long after the war ended. However, her duty was to those who could not protect themselves - and she would be their shield.
