Ray McKinnon!!

I noticed him as an actor for years (Deadwood, Sons Of Anarchy, The Missing, O Brother). Just recently I've become acquainted with him as a film-maker. He's the creator of Sundance's "Rectify". He's written, directed and acted in 3 films, including "The Accountant" which won the 2002 Oscar for best live-action short film. And he produced (as well as acted in) "That Evening Sun", (so I bet he met William Gay!). I really like the landscapes in the cinematography of his films and TV work; and the writing, and the music. This blog is an exploration of his work and sensibility as I understand it, so it will include other stuff (landscapes,other writings for example) that seem consistent with it.

Oscar winning short film from the 2001/2002 season. I really enjoy Ray McKinnon’s work, whether it be acting, directing, or writing. In this short he nails all three. Set on a small-town America farm The Accountant goes through dealing with the troubles of being a farmer, as well as the conspiracy of Big Business trying to shut them down. A really well done comedy.
