Dear adulthood, this is a scam and I want my time back

Therefore, I am reclaiming my time like my good aunt, Maxine Waters at the White House

It's hard to find peace in the darkness While you're dancing in the sunlight A rain cloud appears to wash away the happiness From your eyes and mind It reminds you of the struggle that you have distracted yourself from It reminds you of what's to come in the future If you only pay attention to the darkness and the negatives You will be consumed in that storm like the tornado when Dorothy left home Like my people in New Orleans when Katrina grew strong Because they are not refugees, they were people who experienced poverty Still trying to make it in the crazy thing called society But only I see the irony when people said that we have to help Katrina victims and save society Only to see funds to place back in replenishing and rebuilding the French Quarter and the rest of downtown New Orleans I AM NOT A REFUGEE, I am just experiencing hard times in my city Still waiting on FEMA and the government to help me but it won't happen because they don't care about the wards and the houses still being up with boards across the doors and numbers sprayed on residences to show you how many people died in dismay It's hard to find peace in the darkness And I'm struggling because I feel like I'm one of the Devil's target But I know that peace will come to me like serenity in a sweet dream and long resting I will see that it is a blessing from my upper energy And it will serve as a lesson To put faith in God and follow his direction And I will continue to see blessings and corrections with little discretion

While looking for love, I find souls and hearts that need caressing But sometimes, those people have flaws or imperfections Like little habits like smoking weed or drinking lean are apart of their confessions Every time, I think that I've found the one I find something in him, that keeps me second guessing Like should I date him or should I wait a minute and see if he'll change Maybe he'll come around and he'll stop explaining that it's only a little habit and it's nothing major Yeah, that's what you keep saying and what you keep explaining But I'm not here for these future complications Because I see where you're going and I'm just trying to save ya I'm not trying to see you at your arraignment and you're opposite of the state aka the plaintiff And they're asking you to make a statement Do you know why you're here? I could have been in the same shoes, if I didn't leave him be But thankfully, I saw the imperfections in the beginning, leading up to the prophecy Now, don't get me wrong, I am still struggling but now, I know to accept what it is right for me and not to compromise my beliefs, in order to be with somebody Yeah, it feels good but how are you gonna feel when you're in agony, knowing that you're going against what you believe Just so, you can stop experiencing the state of lonely Saying that I just need someone to hold me Like a blanket of comfort, love and serenity But I remind myself that I have poetry to comfort me In my time of need My poetry will save me with each line of rhythmic ties, pure lines and deep thoughts I will consume it like cool water from a runoff in the mother land of Africa I'm sorry but this is where I take off like the prince of Egypt or Agrabah

It took about five hours to meet you but you were right on time for our date As I deboarded my plane and finally found baggage claim You greeted me with a warm, bright embrace and fame, who I don't care to name I rode with you, all the way from LAX to Anaheim, with traffic that can make a sane person go insane But I didn't care because you were so beautiful to me Lack of humidity with temperatures in the mid-80s was a summer dream to me Because living in Florida was not always so sunny and refreshing

California was my lover My first, actually That swept me off my feet Let me tell you why it means so much to me

You graced me with your beauty, as I walked the beach I could literally see through your waters because you were clean and paid attention to your personal hygiene And you had surfers that made love to your body, which, at first, was strange to me I only witnessed things like this happen in movies but never, in front of me
