You can use your 8 man tent during a festival weekend.  There’s nothing to say you can’t.  This would be a great idea if there is a group of you who doesn’t want to split up, or if friends don’t own tents themselves.  This makes the weekend more sociable and more enjoyable for you.  However, there is a downside to taking a larger tent to festival weekends.

  8 man tents are usually pricier than the typical 2 person dome tent that people normally favour.  The reason why people often choose smaller tents is that they can cost next to nothing.  A brand new tent can be as little as £15.  The chances of your tent getting damaged are high, and if your little £15 tent gets wrecked, you haven’t lost out on much.  Spending more on an 8 man tent may mean you loose out on more should it get ruined.  If you can find one priced at a cheap price though, then this may be ideal for you.

The summer so far this year has been a huge let down.  Where’s the sun?  Why has it always been hiding behind a curtain of cloud, rain and wind?  We should be out camping, enjoying the sun, seeing sights and working on tans, not dodging rain drops, hunching under waterproof macs and umbrellas, and staying indoors.

A trestle table is a handy thing to have for many reasons; extra dining space, decorating, events.  The reasons for owning one are too many to mention.  But what are the best designs to go for?  Years ago, wooden trestle tables were popular, but modern day trestle tables can now be found in polypropylene (a combination of plastic and fibre).

  So what makes the better table?  They both good trestle tables, but even though the wooden may be lighter, the plastic one with the metal frame can be sturdier, stronger, and hold a heavier spread.  It’s also easier to clean, and unlike the wooden table, it won’t perish if it gets wet.

Hobbits Living In A 12 Man Tent

Peter Jackson’s eagerly anticipated movie ‘The Hobbit’ got a free 10 minute trailer viewing at the CinemaCon convention in Los Vegas.  Lucky viewers were holding high hopes after the successes of its big budget sequel trilogy, Lord of the Rings, but were left with mixed feelings.

  Peter Jackson opted this time round to film the movie at 48 frames per second as opposed to the usual 24 frames.  This left some people feeling like they were watching a home shot video as opposed to a huge blockbuster, but seeing as many cinemas don’t have the equipment to show a 48fps flick, this shouldn’t make a difference to our big screens.  If it does, however, and the film flops, those poor little Hobbits may have to give up their cosy underground dwellings for a 12 man tent.

8 Man Tent – Tunnel Or Dome

8 man tents are large tents, but their initial concept and design is still based around that of smaller dome or tunnel tents.  The centre section of many modern tents now comprise of a dome, where the main poles criss-cross in the centre, giving the main living area of the tent more height. 

  The bedroom areas come off of this main dome section.  They can either come off either end, creating one long tent that can be classed as a tunnel tent, especially id the ends of the tent end bluntly, or they can come off in three different directions – either side and the back – and slope down to still give it that domes appearance.
