warm hues shone as the other looked at her. where most others would feel offended speaking to one who was, in a way, looking down at them, she remained unfazed & sunny. â i wish i was immune to the cold. then iâd get to enjoy lovely weather without getting frostbite ! â was eglantineâs immediate, dreamy answer, her accent thickening her words. â of course iâm tough. thereâs a reason the word rhymes with hufflepuff. â a laugh racked her body at her joke. â i wonder what brings you out here ? not love for the weather, surely ? â
đđđđđđđđ
â are you cold ?  â  the question suddenly serious and stark against his usual manner. after all, there was no sense in freezing for no bloody reason, or even the sake of a jest. he studied her for signs of chill before nodding in acknowledgment of her curiosity.  â nothing good. â  he promised too quickly to be anything but joking, his feet hesitated then shuffled into a slow pace. his own gaze followed her, a silent encouragement to join him as he set out in the opposite direction of the castle.  â  are you sure youâd believe anything i said anyways ? if you havenât figured it out, iâm not to be trusted. â

Pandora paused a moment. Truth be told, she didnât expect him to show anything near concern for her. What she had done to him was so awful, especially because it had been for no good reason. Thatâs why the whole thing was so awful. Pandora had lost two things she had loved, not just one. Hesitantly, the blonde reached out and took Rabastanâs hand, pulling her feet - which were now bright red from the cold water - from the Black Lake. âThere was a plantâŠI just wanted the plant,â she tried to explain, looking back at the water.
đđđđđđđđ
â i promise itâll be there tomorrow. . . . or, preferably, next spring.  â  there was a whisper of old teasing habits as he chuckled, tugging her hand and lifting her from the mud. the moment she was on solid ground heâd released her fingers, eyes traveling to the ground. he made a show of searching for her shoes, head turning and leaping chest latching onto the excuse of avoiding her.  â merlin . . . whatever would you do without me ?  â  his laugh was a touch too loud, expression stiff but managing a smile as he met her eye. it was an unreadable expression that he always languished in. but then her boot appeared in his sights at the perfect moment and he set his attention to retrieving it for her.  â  no need to answer that, love. . . . no ----how are you ?  â he asked, bending so that he could catch the abandoned shoe, but also hide his features and the cringe that settled into his shoulders at the weak question.

THE GIRL found herself huffing as she traipsed through the dead grass coating hogwartsâ ground. libraâs hands were stuffed gingerly in her coat pocket, and with every step she took the more she yearned to turn back and pick up gloves from her dorm - but sheâs already gone far enough, might as well finish her journey, she encouraged herself. she was a little way past the top of a hill once she heard the sound of a voice, (which SURPRISED her). whipping her head around to eye the person, she halted to a stop once she saw her housemate. with an exaggerated sigh, she stumbled forwards again. â no TIME to stand and chat, rabastan, â she hissed, â iâve got better things to do. â
đđđđđđđđ
sensing that he was unwanted, rabastanâs step sped up to a stride that easily outstripped his fellow slytherin. though rather than continue on his way, the younger lestrange matched pace at her side, invited by no spoken word and yet unfettered.   â  hey short stack, whatâs the rush ?  â expression scrunched in mock seriousness, he glanced to the glint at his wrist, not really checking the time ( now or ever ), but the action designed to draw a reaction. annoyance, the ultimate goal.  â  strangely enough my eveningâs always open for  â better â, hollows. i know standingâs out of the question, but you could slow down a touch. running all over scotland is always a last resort.  â
αâŃÂąŃÏ
his words take her by surprise ââ sheâs hardly expecting company  ( itâs why sheâs out here in the first place , braving the weather for the promise of solitude. ) book closes in her lap , carrow girl musters what shred of cordiality she can after studies are interrupted . â  sanity is woefully boring , as iâm sure youâre well aware.  â a smirk to rival his own , brow quirked in question .  â  flattery , is it ? ââ   donât tell me you came all this way for me , little lestrange . i might  just  take it to heart.  â Â
đđđđđđđđ
placing no effort towards grace, he nearly tumbled into the comfortable patch of grass near her knee. it gave him the opportunity for his elbow to send her thin limb into a teasing jostle. in the same frame of mind, he lay back in the grass with a great deal of huffing and movement.  â itâs not half so dull as sweetness. iâll sprinkle in a kick every once in a while,  â  rabastanâs chin lifted to strike the witch with as charmed a smile as he could muster, a chilled hand knocking a fist into his cheek for an uncomfortable rest.  â  ---just to keep things interesting for you. donât worry. no heart required.  â  there was a brief but unmistakable spark of admiration that found his studious eye. it helped to ease the sting of the moniker. hell--- what sting ? rabâs unbearably smug grin was in full force,  â  speaking of-- whatâre you doing ?  â
âαÎčŃŃ
daisy was burrowing her shivering hands in her coat pocket, regretting the fact that she had volunteered to gather plants for madame pomfrey, as she headed towards the lake on her way to the greenhouse. all she could imagine was going back to the hufflepuff common room and bundling up with as many blankets she could possibly have to regain some warmth. she had started to quicken her pace when she heard a voice coming from behind her. âit certainly not what i had in mind when i woke up this morning.â she replied to rabastan, her words leaving a cloud in their wake. â what are you doing out in this weather?âÂ
đđđđđđđđ
â  iâm brooding.  canât you tell ?  â  his brows jumped, his sharp wit teasing and hands shifting to mimic herâs. there was warmth somewhere in the depth of those pockets.  â iâll furrow my brow a little more next time, save âem from freezing off, at the very least.  â his lips twitched, and the smug boy stopped just short of laughing at his own amusements. rabastan stalled in his walk to turn, shifting his travels for the express purpose of joining her.   â what  were you imaging would happen this morning, hookum ?  now mind--- iâd answer if i were you, otherwise i could come to all sorts of conclusions  â
ÏαОâÏŃα
Pandora had been knee deep in the Black Lake, wand drawn and pointed at the water when she heard the voice. Oh, she would have recognized that voice anywhere. How many times had that voice whispered to her, called her name, teased her? Her stomach immediately dropped and she paused her activities, straightening up and slowly turning around. âRabastanâŠâ She whispered, a distant look in her wide blue eyes.
đđđđđđđđ
at his name, rabâs smile dropped away, his expression distant save the unforgiving hold of a searching gaze. his jaw twitched, great effort going towards ignoring an irate twist in his chest. rather than return the greeting, as he couldnât seem to manage the effort of saying her name with a satisfying level of indifference, the slytherin made a great show of bouncing on the balls of his feet. his brown eyes shifting to the treeline, anywhere but the curves of what must have been icy limbs.  â  not that itâs any of  my business,  â  they were innocent enough words, although there was a edge hidden somewhere between the lines. a frustrated, hurt sort of edge that carried itâs way into the furrow of his brow. it had almost been his business, after all. almost.  â but youâre going to  freeze. . . . and honestly, iâm much too young to witness such a crime--- letâs come out of there, yeah ?  â  and he lifted his hand for her to take. his guilty conscious adding an impatient gesture to disguise any keen stakes he mightâve held on pandora fawleyâs well-being.  â come on, then.  â
ŃiОα
the cold had always made tina feel better ; the further away she was from blistering heat, the better. now, she walked through the frigid grounds, pointedly ignoring the wind nipping at her nose, enjoying the ( presumable ) loneliness, until a voice rang out, making her jump. â oh ! â her mouth dramatically forming an âoâ, she turned to face the other. â hello there. it is, ah, not very nice, is it, to call yourself insane. â she grinned brightly. â stillââ maybe youâve been called worse ? i have. â
đđđđđđđđ
rabastan shoved his hands further into his pockets, chin rising as he studied the slight girl down the length of his nose. his gestures were carefree, downright rude at the best of times. yet there was something forgivable in the lift of his smile and unflinching study of her features.    â  immune to jests  and the cold ?  â  pale fingers found the bridge of his nose and the slytherin rubbed at the corner of his eye, enough to drop eye contact. his attention shifted, a small reprieve while he glanced over their dreary surroundings.  â tough girl. . . . iâm sure youâll find it in you to take it as a compliment. â
đđđđđđđđ
it was far too cold for anyone to be out of doors, and yet here rabastan was, casually trudging through the grass regardless of icy winds and clouds threatening rain. gaze steady and far off as he crested the last hill before the lake, he was almost too preoccupied to notice  the other ( foolish ) soul  braving the weather. feet falling into a jilted stop, his chin rose and he eyed the individual.  â  whatâs this ?  â  he called, a smile saturated in smugness threatening the curve of his lips  â  no one sane out today, sâthat it ?  â
đđđđđđ
after a long day trying to avoid everyone , it was that kind of day for alecto , she was already tired of avoiding everyone. â she was a little bit apathetic and liked her little time alone , although she reckoned twenty four full hours were already too much. alecto approached a bank under a candle light and sat to read her potions book before making it to bed for the next day , when she discerned a strange figure from afar. she had no absolute idea who it was while starting at her book but she could say they were coming towards her. the slytherin grunted and , without looking up from her book , she snapped â â youâre covering the only light i have to read this , could you please move ? âÂ
đđđđđđđđ
â  a please, and everything. who could say no to that  charm ?   â  if his tall frame hadnât given him away, the teasing lilt in his tone surely would. his hands hidden away within the pockets of his robes, there was a careless hunch to the slopes of his shoulders, a certain lack of concern for the blondeâs annoyance. but following through on his word, rabastan slid from the lightâs beam with a smooth yet no less dramatic flourish.  â âcourse, by the rule of small favors  ---- you have to spill the beans.  â  and rab lifted his chin to the cover of her book, his lips lifting in polite interest.

* â° Â Â ( ANSEL ELGORT )âhave you met ( RABASTAN LESTRANGE ) ? ( he ) reminds me of (  shifting shadows  ;  of thick clouds of fog from stewing cauldrons  ;  half-hearted laughter  ;  of red wine tipped precariously in a careless grip  ;  a book set on a shelf only to be forgotten  ;  heated side glances with unreadable expressions  ;  of an ominous pause in a concerto, hall caught in a joint hush of silence  ;  of an uncomfortable lump lodged in a dry throat  ;  of a dog panting on a frigid morning walk  ;  of a warm hand clinging to slumped shoulder-- comforting and steady  ;  pursed lips--- silenced thoughts  ;  of wind whipping at ruddy cheeks  ;  building music heard in the next room  ;  of traversing a field-- dry grass swiping at outstretched fingers and of long ignored resentments  ). a ( twenty ) year old ( tenth ) year ( slytherin ), the ( vagrant ) is known to be ( + shrewd & + blithe ), yet ( â capricious  & â dismissive ). that explains why theyâre majoring in ( alchemy ). rumour has it, ( rabastan ) is siding with ( the death eaters ) in the solemn war that blazes just beyond the horizon.
