the game hasn't even been out for more than a day yet but I made the mistake of adding Hugh Morris to my island after creating my own Mii. I'm trying so so so hard to make her stay away from him and protect her from getting her heart broken bc she's not a baddie gilf like Dr. Winters but he keeps on looking at her everytime they walk by and I'm feeling like an overprotective dad trying to protect his daughter from fuckboys. Keep your jester hands off of her Hugh
i like to pretend i already died and asked god to send me back to earth so i can swim in lakes again and see mountains and get my heart broken and love my friends and cry so hard in the bathroom and go grocery shopping 1,000 more times. and that i promised i would never forget the miracle of being here
Inspired by @annisocial's post :33 This entry doesn't include shows I watched and books I read because unfortunately I didn't consume either of them enough to really be noteworthy. Maybe next month though!!
🎬 Movies 🎬
The Crush (1993), in which a 14 y/o girl obsesses over some guy in his 30s and she gets violent when he rejects her advances.
Alica Silverstone and Cary Elwes starring in the same movie is crazy work. Alica was awesome but tbh, and I dunno if it's just me, but I didn't feel like Cary's acting was that good in this one. Somehow I felt like he was a lot more believable as a farm boy turned into a pirate in The Princess Bride (1987) 😭
As for the actual plot? Yeah, it's. Basically exactly how it sounds. Problematic age gap story but the twist is that the young girl is the predator... I guess? The movie wants you to feel bad for the guy, but that's hard when there are moments that clearly show he's still attracted to her, even if he knows it's wrong :/ Sometimes it's like the movie wants you to think "well it's not really his fault, she's so seductive and cunning!!" and not "he's still a weirdo for being sexually attracted to a 14 y/o" which is just... fuck you. Honestly if the movie hadn't been so deadset on making him out to be a victim, I think it would've been more enjoyable.
Recommended? ❌️ It's fine as a mindless thriller movie but it's not that great imo
Katatsumori (1994), in which a woman makes a documentary capturing the relationship between her and her great aunt, who raised her.
Now THIS is a certified lovecore classic. I'm glad I found it to watch around Valentine's Day. I feel like old people aren't often seen as objects of beauty or reverence, but you can feel the love that Naomi Kawase has for her great aunt in every shot. And romantic love is so blown up in society that everyone forgets that it's not the only type of love worth talking about :/ I also like how she shows the most quiet and mundane parts of their life, and how she includes less "pretty" details like silly close-up shots of her aunt's face or using her snoring as the background noise for the credits. She still loves those parts of her enough that she felt like they were worth including. In general this movie feels like an innocent and peaceful version of the cancerous plague on our world that is the current state of family vlogging 🤮
Recommended? ✅️ Yes I think it's a must watch, especially for our goldfish attention span generation. We need more slow-paced films like this.
Friday the 13th (1980 & 1981), in which the aftermath of a tragic death at Camp Crystal Lake takes place years later.
...which is a pretty way of saying that Jason and his mom kill a bunch of horny teenagers lmao. I almost assumed that this series must be where the sexualization in slasher movies came from cuz holy shit, the majority of the main cast is crazy horny. I mean, I saw it in Halloween (1978) too, but damn 😭 But I guess they needed to market these movies somehow and breaking the titties out is the easiest way to do that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I honestly enjoyed the aesthetic more than anything, if that makes sense? I grew up on a lake and they really captured what summer at the lake actually feels like. Lots of little details gave me nostalgia while watching it, especially the first movie.
Recommended? 🤔 If you like slasher movies, then yes, if only for the fact that they're iconic. But if you don't, then there's really no point, I don't think they're that great.
Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995), in which a girl has a shitty life, even though all she really wants is to feel loved.
I found this movie through a YouTube review a couple years ago and randomly thought about it again recently, so I watched it. It's a dark satire indie movie and I remember the review described it as hard to watch, not because it's a bad film, but because the plot is SO INFURIATING... The main character has bad things constantly happening to her, but she's also very flawed and tends to make her situations worse. The writing itself is good, it even made me interested in Todd Solondz's other movies, but then I read their Wikipedia plot summaries and I said no thank you 💀 I dunno how to explain it, it's just... not my cup of tea. Still a good cup of tea, but not for me.
Recommended? 🤔 Only if you like to torture yourself 😭 only /hj though. If you can stomach dark comedy and unhappy endings, then yes, it's good. But personally, I wouldn't watch it again. It's just gonna keep making me mad lmao
Thelma & Louise (1991), in which two women run from the law after committing a murder.
My English teacher told everyone we needed to watch this. It definitely feels like a modern-day western kind of movie and it's very thrilling, but I don't wanna give more details so as not to spoil. Best movie on this list tbh
Recommended? ✅️ Yes! My English teacher was right, you gotta watch this movie.
Hells (2008), in which a girl ends up in hell after getting hit by a car and must find a way to get back to the living realm.
It's an anime movie with a cool (sometimes kinda wonky, but I feel like that's on purpose) art style. And it's a little funny. But honestly, pretty mid. The beginning included a lot of anime tropes and I thought "oh this is a genre subversion, they're making fun of dumb tropes!!" but then suddenly it was a bible fanfiction. I actually enjoy religious themes in stories but the plot was stupid so I lost interest halfway through lololol
Recommended? ❌ It was a waste of time low-key. The art style was the best thing about it, but there's apparently a manga version, so you'd probably be better off just reading that.

ANOTHER CUP by bunnycat
This song reminded me that I love mean evil bully women AND women in suits. And it has BOTH!!!! Omg!!!! Teto portraying handsome nerds is one of my favorite Vocaloid tropes (Pathological Facade by Ghost) and I LOVE Miku's character cuz it's very rare for her to portray masc characters and SHE'S HUGE TOO so I'm so happy,,,, I think I'm gonna add the toxic office lesbians to my Tomodachi Life 2 island. Anyways this song is just lots of fun and I'm quite excited to see what bunnycat makes in the future so I just wanted to share this
covetous by Ghost
Dropping this on Valentine's Day was INSANE but I expect no less from literally one of the best and most iconic English Vocaloid producers. (I'm realizing now that I listened to a lot of Vocaloid songs this month, reminds me of my middle school days 🥲 simpler times) I think this song is reminiscent of their older works but it also caught me off guard since it's comparatively pretty vulgar. Ghost has never shied away from tough topics but these lyrics feel quite blunt and harsh, in a way that I don't think their songs have been before. And that is a GOOD THING!!!! Seeing so many SA survivors in the comments praise the song really speaks to the effectiveness of the message. Ghost just keeps getting more peak and I love it so much omg
🎮 Games 🎮
Mystic Messenger (2016), in which the player gets to flirt with pretty boys (and a pretty girl) in a chat room after getting scammed by a cult member.
I first played this game years ago, but I didn't get beyond the Casual Story. This month I realized that I can actually play the whole thing now since I have a phone with storage space that isn't the size of a peanut and a job so I can pay for more hourglasses xP I got Yoosung's Good Ending and now I'm working on getting Jaehee's. The game is as entertaining as I remember it, but I hate how Yoosung got such good character development in his route only for him to lose it all upon resetting, it's sad 😭 I'm purposefully leaving Saeyoung's good route for last cuz I'll lose my mind if I see that happen to him too
