for my phd research, i build numerical simulations of fluid flow and chemical evolution in hydrothermal systems. this generates a lot of dope visual output, so i am logging it here as it happens.

this is also not my work, but this survival analysis plot (or retention plot?) makes it a feature, not a bug, that all your timeserieses don’t start at the same time.

went from that hand-drawn cross-section to smooth interpolated lines in like 30 minutes. but don’t worry, i wasted time in plenty of other ways today.

“workshopping” a “figure”

this is not my work, but this is a cool way to show 4 variables with non-linear constraints in one 2d plot. it looks busy/crowded at first, but honestly it makes way less sense with less information. 

those green and red lines show you WHY this plot is even useful. it’s called a carpet plot.
