Okay I mean it's 1500 ish stitches and like 30 colours to go but I started with 50,000+ stitches and 95 colours so this feels like a miniscule amoubt

☀ cross stitch of a cat , which is about 1000 years old !
A textile fragment was found in Peru. It belongs to the Chimu or Chancay culture (pre-Columbian era X - XV centuries)
completed weaving of the penelope skyphos from chiusi:
the header is tablet-woven linen, with the linen weft for the band used as the warp for the rest of the piece on a warp-weighted loom, which you can see in the photos below (there is also a previous post with more process photos here). the reverse is a negative mirror image of the front, since I wove this as double-weave pickup rather than tapestry:
additional details below the cut:
I have been inconsistent in posting updates but this is where we're at after six months work:
83.9% stitched
29/95 colours
If anyone needs the hex codes for the pwhl colors, this is what I have found using a color picker tool and the different logos
test weaving of penelope's tapestry on the chiusi skyphos:
reference:
there are some adjustments I need to make for tension, but I'd like to make the next version into a header band for a warp-weighted loom so I can try weaving the whole pot, including telemachus and penelope.
Latest milestone on the massive triptych? 69% stitched
