POV: me giving my characters my own trauma and mental problems
Therapy is expensive. Fictional characters are free.
POV: when you come up with the most earth-shattering idea for your book
but it means rewriting half the plot, three character arcs, and everything you've already written
...worth it.
POV: authors when their characters refuse to follow the storyline
I created you, gave you a backstory, planned your future...
and somehow you're still making your own decisions
POV: it’s 2am but the enemies just became lovers
Sleep can wait
I’ve been emotionally preparing for this moment the entire book
POV: people telling me to read a book to fall asleep faster
Meanwhile I’m 6 chapters deep at 3am emotionally attached to fictional people again
POV: sleep-deprived readers at 2am acting out the dialogue in the book they’re reading
fully performing every scene like I personally got cast in the adaptation
POV: a family member wants to borrow a book from my bookshelf
Now I have to decide if I trust them with my emotional support collection
POV: people telling me to finish my books before buying new ones
That sounds reasonable… which is exactly why I’m ignoring it
When you read the same line 10 times and still don’t understand it
My eyes are reading the words
but my brain already left the chat
Me every time at the bookstore
walking in for “just one book” and leaving with emotional support novels and an empty wallet
When someone comes to your house and starts touching your books
easy… those are not decorations, those are emotional support objects
Asking your girlfriend to stop coming home with more books
Meanwhile she’s already clearing space for the next stack
How did you like the book I gave you?”
Me staring at them, trying not to spoil the emotional damage I just experienced
Readers asking if they’ll ever finish their never-ending TBR
At this point it’s less of a reading list and more of a lifelong commitment
me when I read a book and it has all my favorite tropes
At this point the author wrote it specifically for me and nobody can convince me otherwise
It's 3am and the enemies finally became lovers
now I can sleep peacefully knowing my suffering was worth it
Me on my way to ignore all my responsibilities and read in bed
The chores can wait
My fictional people cannot
