Also to follow that up. I wish I can talk about Robin’s sexuality and her problems with it without constantly being reminded of byler. I talk about it a few times before but whenever I talk about Robin specifically and how I am so proud that she has come a long way in her narrative: a ton of people bring up about how it’s not enough rep or how there can be more than one queer storyline in this show. Like do you guys have a point? Sure. But it’s fucking exhausting how I can’t talk about how happy I am that Robin is able to come out of her shell and is able to be comfortable around other people without people constantly bringing this point up. Like why do you always need to bring it up? I just want to talk about Robin and her specifically!
Because they've convinced themselves that shipping Byler is taking a moral stance and fighting for social justice. Being reminded that there is another out queer character on the show that they ignore gets in the way of them holding onto that argument, so they feel the need to defend it even when no one is talking about it. It's like how Will being gay is also representation all on its own, but they come up with excuses to argue why it's not real or good representation unless he's making out with Mike.
