Excuse me? Two could play at that game. Almost laughing at the stupidity of his question, the petite girl wore a cute smile on her face. “Nope. Are you retarded?" An eye for an eye. Once again, the Angel wasn’t in the mood to deal with someone’s crap. Like she ever was. The darkness in his tone was almost scary, she would give him that much. But it wouldn’t stop her from being just as rude.
Her smile was pissing him off--coupled with a comeback like that, it was even worse. He hated cutesy girls, but he hated cutesy fakes even more. Maybe an act like that could wrap almost any idiot around her little finger, but it only made him want to retch. "You must be if that's all you've got," he says slickly, fixing her with an unblinking stare, scowling. "Doesn't your face ache from putting that on all the time?"

Kousuke hadn't had a good day. More than that, he'd just had a boring day. Everything had gone too easily, and no one had fought back--at least not in a good way. He wanted people to be scared of him, of course, but that wasn't any fun if they all just ran away. He could only take so much of that before he was in a bad mood.
He's walking too quickly, too forcefully, down the street, not caring about anyone who might get in the way--until he walks straight into some kid, that is. "Hey. Watch where you're going!" he snaps. It'd been his fault, but it wasn't like Kousuke would apologise. He was never in the mood for it, and especially not today.

Juno sighed softly, her breathing light and soft; quiet and simple; warm and cold. She knew he was there. She wasn’t an idiot. She was a Btoom! gamer after all. She let the boy tail her for a while. She had the cracker bombs and the fire bombs. She knew how to use them and she knew what to do.
By the sounds of it, she needed to outsmart the boy. But how? Her brown eyes drifted around in front of her as she walked carefully. Could he be an old Btoom! player? Possibly…
Juno Nike, daughter of the owner of Nike (as in the sports gear), is stuck on an island playing a death game thanks to her stepmother. Her mother loved her but she passed away and her father remarried. You could think of it almost like a fairy tale. Her stepmother hated her and signed her up for this fucking death trap.

She didn't seem afraid. Kousuke was disappointed--if anything, it didn't look like she'd noticed him. Not even any subtle signs of anxiety, like looking around quickly or tensing up. Don't you dare bore me. Sure, he didn't really want to face a really strong opponent--not that anyone was stronger than he was, and not that he was afraid of that--but if they were so bad there wasn't any resistance at all? That just wasn't any fun. He liked it if they screamed. Begging was even better. Especially when he ignored them... or teased them by pretending to play along, before carrying on anyway. Making it worse.
Focus. Imagining it was making him excited, almost making him laugh, but he holds it back. He really wanted to make this girl beg. She definitely would--this was BTOOOM!, after all.
Trying not to get too impatient, he runs over his options. Using the flaming gas BIM was tempting--he wouldn't mind forcing her to some place, but in the end, he probably needed to plan in advance and there wasn't much point if she was, well, right there. A homing type was too weak to waste on a target that wasn't moving: cracker, then? Kousuke silently pulls it from where it hung from his pouch's strap. It wasn't as elaborate as he might have liked, but...
Making sure to hide himself behind a tree, the second she's close enough, he tosses the cracker, thinking that his aim was right, but still hoping she would dodge. You'd better entertain me, okay?

What ridiculous clothes. So girly, lacy, flamboyant--he hated it. He hated it all, and, him being him, wasn't afraid to voice his opinion. "Are you five or something?" he says casually, not bothering to hide the malice in his tone as he makes eye contact. Kousuke wonders if she was rich, looking at her dress sense. Huh. All the more reason to destroy her.

Kousuke couldn't help feeling--well, proud of himself. He'd not only managed to get some bombs (and another kill while he was at it), but this alliance could be beneficial. Not that Kousuke really cared about any of those people, or any aim of getting out together. No, he did what he wanted. He didn't need any help. It was simply easier for him to move now.
And move he did--alone, regardless of the rest of the group. It was the way he liked it, and wanted it to be: after all, how could he possibly share if he found someone? Kousuke's eyes light up as he spots a girl through the trees, as if on cue. Had she seen him yet? He thought it might be fun if she did, and ran. The ones who tried to escape were always the most fun.
Time to play, he thinks as he slips back into the trees and starts to tail her.
Headcanon #2: Empowerment
Though Kousuke would never admit it, the abuse he's experienced has left him with a lot of feelings of shame, helplessness and weakness. He can't stand knowing how much his father managed to do to him, and how he simply let him, but cannot accept this if he is to hold himself together. As it stands, Kousuke's only way of stopping these feelings are by empowering himself.
This is what leads to his violent behaviour towards others. Kousuke can believe he is strong if he beats a few people into submission, or if a sly remark causes someone to shy away nervously. Even raping a dead body was a way to gain power for him--a corpse is completely helpless and under his total control.
This all serves to direct his frustration at his own shortcomings at the outside world, pushing them back and hiding in the illusion that he alone is all powerful and important. It's his only self defence mechanism, and it's why he reacts so powerfully the second defeat comes into sight or things stop going his way--if somebody proves he is weak, his illusion will shatter, and his will to continue with it.
Yuno read the boy’s movements as he stepped closer and with that, along with the look on his face and tone of his voice, his intentions seemed clear. Out of the corner of her eyes she kept watch on all parts of him without directly looking away from his own in order to further prepare herself from any type of attack at her. She deepened her glare at him, “Then I’d say that’s bad idea."
She seemed surprisingly unafraid--which Kousuke didn't consider a bad thing. If anything, it set his adrenaline pumping at the thought of a good fight. Hopefully there was some skill behind that glare. Still smirking, but threatening to outright grin, he laughs, "Well, I'm full of bad ideas!" as he grabs hold of his knife, flips open the handle and dives forward, aiming for a slash at her throat.
Headcanon #1: Knives
Kousuke’s weapon of choice for murder was a knife through the eye, and the attachment doesn’t stop there. Growing up, Kousuke developed a habit of playing with kitchen knives, which was never prevented due to his neglectful father. Watching violent movies meant that Kousuke both knew of and loved the destruction that could be caused with knives, but he was too afraid to ever implement them with his father around. As he grew up, though, Kousuke began pickpocketing, acquiring his ‘own’ knives. Gaining a weapon made him feel not only empowered but safer—though he only used them to threaten his classmates when they annoyed him (at least until he began getting deep into crime) he tended to hold onto one, concealed in his pocket, while his father was around. It made him feel less helpless, even though he knew that he wouldn’t really use it. His favourites are flick knives, and he tends to open and close them when he’s bored, but he also loves sturdy, vicious knives with serrated edges when it comes to actually using them—flick knives are simply more practical.

Scanning the crowds on the street, Kousuke picks one at random to pickpocket. As his eyes fall on a young adult male, he's concerned for a second, before quickly assuring himself that he had this covered--he was strong after all, and that guy didn't look tough. He approaches quickly enough to make progress but slow enough to be subtle, mixing in with the crowds and slipping his hand in the other's pocket as he passes, grabbing something. Without looking to see what it was, he shoves it in his pocket and makes to walk off, a little quicker. Now, I wonder if this will get a little more fun... he sure hoped so.
Yuno grimaced unconsciously but consciously wanted this boy to know she not one to be easily messed with. Her otherwise delicate hands formed fists and she lowered her head slightly, “I don’t think someone who is innocent would be following me around as you have been. Now say what you want or leave.” Or else. Yuno wouldn’t stand for any who may be around mistaking them for anything more than what they were; strangers on the street.
Kousuke's eyes light up as he watches her fists clenching. Bingo! He hadn't even had to try very hard to get her riled up! Not bothering to hide his delight, he grins, fixing his eyes on hers and licking his lips. "And what if I don't?" he says slickly, slipping one hand into his pocket, where his knife is hidden, as he purposefully steps a little too close. He didn't think he had to press many more buttons to get her to snap... and that was just what he wanted.

Yuno had noticed the flanking presence of someone but reasons and details of them she didn’t know. She let it continue before the presence was no longer ignoreable. She turned made her way to confront this person and spoke with a cautious yet dominating tone, “Oi, who are you?”
Damn. He'd been noticed. He'd thought this girl looked weak enough to be easy to pickpocket--not that being caught mattered too much, as long as he was going to get some entertainment now. Kousuke looks at her pointedly, rolling his eyes as he takes a confident step forward, obviously hostile, not caring if he provoked her. She might look older than him, but he's certain that he's stronger. "What's it to you?" he says smoothly, before smirking. "A little rude to approach an innocent stranger like that, don't you think?"

Kousuke couldn't have imagined many places he wouldn't rather be. Perhaps it wasn't the worst experience, but the last thing he wanted was to be patronised or lectured. On occasions, Kousuke didn't mind people saying he was crazy, when it got him out of bad situations--he could promote that belief gladly, since it got him a better sentence, didn't it? But seeing a psychiatrist? That was unnecessary. He wasn't really crazy. He was sure of that. If he was sure of anything at all, it was himself, the only person he would ever believe in.
And so it was that as the door opens, without looking up, Kousuke says flatly, "If you think you're going to get anything out of me, you're wasting your time," with no attempt to conceal the venom in his voice.

Yuuta thought for a while. He thought about what must be wrong with this kid and what must have made him think like that. Also, why someone would want to philosophise with a random stranger and him no less.
He nods a little as he makes his decision. “Well, of course it exists and older people believe in happiness too, you know.” He paused as he looked at the boy. “So, why are you unhappy?”
For a second, Kousuke's thrown off. Why did he care? More than caring, why did he want to know? He knows for a fact that people couldn't care less what happened to him, so it feels bizarre. The fact that it's making him confused is making him angry, his hand in his pocket closing around the knife there, making him feel more secure. He has the upper hand. Of course he does. He was right, wasn't he?
He continues to glare at him, his firm expression growing into a smirk. "You've got the question the wrong way round. You should be asking yourself why you're happy, don't you think?"
Alois weaved his way through moving bodies on the crowded street, ignoring protests as his elbow accidentally hit a few people, giggling lightly as he sprinted as fast as he could through town, boots thumping on the cobblestones. The blonde Earl had taken a liking to running from his butler during their outings to town and, while Claude was surely used to this childish maneuver for attention, it was still quite fun. He did his best to pretend that Claude didn’t know where he was at all times and looked over his shoulder, laughing to himself at how much distance he’d put between himself and his uptight butler.
Growing tired, he turned on his heels and ran straight into a building (whether it was a store or a small residence, he did not know, or care), closing the door softly once inside. Backing up, he rather unceremoniously tripped over something, the end result being falling and ramming right into some patron right behind him. Poor innocent shopper, being run into like that— Alois shook his head, clearing his thoughts as he regained his balance, turning to make sure he hadn’t knocked the poor soul over.
Kousuke might have been planning to pickpocket someone, or take something from the shelves, or simply see what he could possibly do next. He certainly preferred being out on the streets to being back 'home', though the lack of video games or internet connection was a pain. He thought if he nicked enough phones, enough wallets, maybe the money would accumulate. Then he could get out of here for good. Forever. His dad would never find him, and, besides, it wasn't as if he was looking. Sometimes Kousuke was glad that no one cared about him--being able to run away without anyone bothering to come after him was a bonus. It meant he could do whatever he wanted.
Such dreams were abruptly interrupted when some kid barges into him, sending him smack onto the floor. Maybe he was around his age, maybe a little younger, but that didn't particularly matter--Kousuke was going to speak his mind no matter who he was talking to. He gets to his feet, glaring. What was with that kid's getup, anyway? "Hey," he snaps, hostility obvious in his raised voice. "What d'you think you're doing?"
