That voice that talks badly to you is a demon voice. Hopefully, as you get older, you learn how to live with your demon. When the demon starts to slither my way and say bad shit about me I turn around and say, ‘Hey. Cool it. Amy is my friend. Don’t talk about her like that.’ Sticking up for ourselves in the same way we would one of our friends is a hard but satisfying thing to do. Sometimes it works.

Former Saturday Night Live cast members Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader are making TV together again. Tonight their new show, Documentary Now!, which features fake documentaries satirizing some of the most famous nonfiction films, premiers on IFC.
To sell the faux-class and seriousness of what’s about to unfold, it’s presented as a golden anniversary show of the best documentary films hosted by none other than Oscar-winner Helen Mirren.
“We really wanted someone who had gravitas, but also a sort of winking humor,” says Seth Meyers a co-writer of the series. The Late Night host leaves the acting onDocumentary Now! to Hader, most recently seen in the movie Trainwreck, and Armisen, Meyers’ Late Night bandleader and star of another IFC show, Portlandia.

Ambivalently Yours
There are two things that anonymous feminist artist Ambivalently Yours does really well: hand-written notes of self-expression to disperse in public places and breaking the binaries of what is expected of a female today. Since the inception of her blog ambivalently-yours.com in 2012, the creation of her illustrations, with their scattering of honest thoughts, life perils and questions, the anonymous artist creates an online space where conflicting feelings are confronted and reevaluated – she’s dead serious but sprinkles them with a good dose of tongue-in-cheek humour. “Dear skirt, you are very cute and I like you a lot, but I read this study that said it was better for my career if I chose you over pants, and that makes me resent you,” she writes. Using her work to highlight the messiness and imperfections of being female, she creates an avenue for ‘boldly undecided girls’ to celebrate their contradictions. (Text Lisa Walden)
