Let us not forget the absolute king of alternate realities and weird ass dimensions where fucking weird things happen
(photo id: Rod Serling /end id)
i learned that the Twilight Zone was created after Rod Serlingâs teleplay inspired by Emmett Tillâs murder was heavily censored by networks and advertisers. The censorship led Serling to rethink his approach and delve into the eraâs social issues through a filter of science fiction and fantasy (x)
Hey man me and the homies are gonna be hanging out in the pit of manâs fears and the summit of his knowledge, you in?
The main alien in âTo Serve Manâ looks like Michael Shannon and Iâm tired of ignoring it
If you ever think you're 'too messed up' to create something successful, please direct your attention to Rod Serling, the creator of the original Twilight Zone. Rod had severe PTSD from his time fighting during the second world war, and much of The Twilight Zone is closely based on his personal struggles with that. He also was something of a controversial figure in the world of television scripts, due to his political activism and tendency to write scripts that touched uncomfortably close to home on issues or events of the time.
Let me say it another way; one of the world's most well known thriller shows, accompanied by some of the most iconic music to date, was created by a 5'4 man with a mental disorder who many people in his field rejected for his values.
Don't ever let what you think of yourself stop you from being great.

Rod Serling
A man's desire, his need to connect with others on both a physical and emotional level. It is a powerful driving force, able to draw several different individuals from across the city, or perhaps from across the entire globe.
But even the most potent of forces can be twisted, manipulated to create a pit...a pit in which careless delusions swim about the ether like plastic balls. One in which those of a shared patchwork of interests can find themselves if their ambition dares outweigh their awareness.
One such innocent pilgrimage has bought these humble yet arrogant youths an extra hour in the ball pit...of the Twilight Zone.
twilight zone episode but rod serling looks like this at the end
The Twilight Zone (TV Series 1959 â 1964)
i still love how americans will talk about shows like the addams family or the original twilight zone as being low budget
and meanwhile i, a classic who fan, am here like âthey could afford to go OUTSIDE? they could afford two whole shots of a lion ON THEIR SET? they must have been rolling in it!â
The best episode of The Twilight Zone is the one where a bunch fancy dudes in a fancy club are hanging out and one young guy talks a lot, so an old rich guy says âIf you can not talk for an entire year Iâll give you X amount of moneyâ
So these dudes build this like giant clear cube for this guy to live in for a year and be monitored on 24/7
And at the end he comes out and the rich guy says he isnât actually rich and canât give him any money, but whatâs important is that the young man won the moral victory
And then the young guy reveals he had his vocal chords removed to guarantee he could win the money
100% the best example of âWell, wasnât that fucked up? Anyway, Iâm Rod Serling.â
