to feel a genuine connection with someone is so rare, to like someone and have them like you is so freaking rare, I think it's a numbers game, expose yourself to as many people as possible and then see which one sticks and then go. You almost have to chase for it and go ahead and ruthlessly eliminate the people you don't feel a connection to. I wanna know more Ne users
when someone's so wrong you get angry, like the conclusion doesn't matter but how you got there is all that matters and the way you got there is fucking shitty im so pissed. someone is so wrong about this
You know when youāre on self destruction day 8 and it gets so fucking boring itās almost unreal how boring it becomes honestlyā¦. It used to feel so naughty and clandestine and now itās likeā¦.. šš½ Cool tomorrow letās go on a nice two hour walk get our mind right deep clean house grocery shop listen to sweet affirmations read exfoliate play instrumentals in the kitchen while we cook. And itās not like a desperate plan itās just like itās actually more exciting to live the Other Way. Even if it doesnāt answer every existential qualm I have at once it makes it all nicer. I want to swim and suntan. I want to restock my mango kefir
Misconceptions About Type 1
Type 1 is likely one of the more uncommon types within the enneagram system.Ā We often joke of the overtypings of 5s and 4s and proceed to forget that type 1 is also strongly overtyped.Ā The fact is that few if any enneagram authors were of the type 1 personality type, therefore much of what is written about the type is lacking this first person experience associated with the type.Ā This becomes very obvious in descriptions of 1 which almost entirely ignore 1s connection to the body triad and, at times, portray the type as if it were of the head triad.Ā When learning the enneagram, it becomes especially important to understand this difficulty and begin to reconceptualize our understanding of type 1 in particular.

The gift of 1s
1s excel at making the chaos of the unconscious into something structured and clear which people can understand, and then use as a framework to better their lives.
8s are the opposite of 1s. 8s excel at tearing down structure and/or escaping structure in order to plunge themselves into the unknown. The reason 8s become fixated on Lust where they struggle to feel like anything is ever enough, is because they are missing the Competency-based ability to create and form structure. All of the insight that 8s gain from their adventures and their fearless exploration of the chaotic underworld, end up wasted and meaningless, because the 8 cannot order any of it into a structure that makes any of it concrete and meaningful and lasting. The adventurousness and chaoticness of the 8 is even stronger in 7: the integration point of 1. Perhaps so many 1s envy 8s and mistype as 8s because theyāre actually envying 7s, and it is a real bitch to tell 7s and 8s apart if you donāt understand typology deeply.
Unlike 8, 1 already has the ability and the motivation to create order and structure ā itās what they do. What fucks up the 1 is the emotional inability to stomach the ambiguity and chaos of life. Many 1s live chaotic lives, full of sex and drugs and parties. But what makes them 1s is that psychologically, they cannot handle the ambiguity of other people, the ambiguity of the human condition and human belief systems, the ambiguity of the psyche, the ambiguity of anything, without feeling ANGER and FRUSTRATION and a wealth of other intense emotions. The struggle for 1s is learning to get in touch with their shameful emotions of anger and frustration ā and deeper down, their shame and sense of inadequacy. 1s feel they are somehow too inadequate inside to handle a chaotic lifeās challenges, regardless of how untrue this is.
all the 1s I know have the āshamanisticā trait of 4. They are seeking to find what kind of person you really are ā they envision the best, most perfect version of you, the way they envision the perfect version of themselves ā and then try to help you to embody this version of yourself. 1 and 4 suffer from a problem where they can become too emotionally attached to abstract ideals about who everyone really is, including themselves. For example, the 1 might think you are a pianist deep down and become offended when this isnāt who you actually are deep down. This problem of idealizing people in hyper-specific, detailed archetypal ways originates from 4, and 1 inherits it from their disintegration line.
1s become fucked up when they refuse to embrace ambiguity, chaos, expansive thinking and subjectivity, each represented by one or both of their lines (1 -> 4) (1 -> 7). The belief systems and structures they form in attempt to seek meaning and give others meaning, turn out to be meaningless and reductive. 1s reduce reality to the five senses ā the opposite of their original goal, which was to give mankind true meaning that allows him to expand his consciousness, 1 -> 7 ā because they are filled with rage and anger and shame when forced to confront a more complex reality. Iām too tired to whip it out now but Modern Man in Search of a Soul by Carl Jung (he is a 1, btw!) has some excellent quotes which explain this phenomena, of religion becoming reductive and meaningless because the pastors (who are probably also 1s) are too scared to explore the chaotic and ambiguous unconscious full of fantasies.
1s are known for establishing and running religious institutions, because it is the calling of the 1 to provide meaning to other peopleās lives.
I'm removing type from my bio. I'm sick of the primitive narcissistic way people use enneagram and I'm not even going to be polite about it anymore. If you know anything about this shit you know that you're supposed to work on ALL your ego fixations, all nine of them. Go read Almaas. Most of all you're supposed to balance all nine lines that exist inside of you which basically represent all your fragmented warring selves. Enneagram is a powerful healing tool when used right because it allows you to better visualize the fragments of your personality that are struggling with each other and need to be unified to make you whole. or as MPD therapists call it, "integrated".
I'm much more interested in that than going in circles debating how people shallowly perceive me over the internet. Or shallowly trying to perceive other people over the internet. Stop this obsession with how you are perceived. It's navel-gazing self conscious 4 bullshit that has become the promoted norm in this community. No wonder everybody is "mistyping" themselves as 4s, you have to be a walking dysfunctional 4 case who is obsessed with categorizing how others perceive you in order to fit in to this community at all. Stop looking for your true type. Stop thinking your One True Type even exists, cuz it probably doesnt. Start living life without the idea of type in your head and then during reflection time you can use the enneagram framework to see if you find patterns in your behaviors and feelings, and the behaviors and feelings of others. You'll find heaps. Remember if there is no movement, ie if you're saying something is "3" but there is no wing action, and no 9 or 6 movement to back it up and connect it back to the whole, your observation is kind of meaningless.
People are holding back so much authenticity in this community because they're scared of getting retyped if some sanctimonious wanker puritan typologer thinks that one thing they said is out of line with the way they were previously typed. It's such a shame because we draw the most typological insight when we are being totally authentic about our experiences and allowing ourselves to speak whatever comes up and relate to whatever comes up, which could really be fucking anything. When we limit ourselves to one core type or one tritype or one xwx xwx xwx, we make our scope of self realization so needlessly limited. The only people this serves are neurotic, narcissistic busybodies on the internet with a terribly unbalanced 1-4 line who want to turn everyone into a caricature for the sake of their own fragile, self-serving ideologies.
The truth is we have all nine types in us and we will exercise all of them at different moments. it's unhealthy image type nonsense (specifically unhealthy 1-4 line nonsense, also 5/6 resistance of ambiguity you're guilty too) to believe otherwise.
masterpost | instinct variants
since thereās been a rennaissance ofĀ mbtiĀ in kpop, iāll introduce you to a related personality typing tool that might interest you. instinct variants!Ā
the three instincts in this system are commonly combined with the mbti to further specify/subtype it (hence itās called āvariantā) and, maybe youāve heard of it, oneāsĀ enneagram personality type. but you can also type yourself or others separately, itās not 100% tied to it. this post will introduce the typology on its own so you can apply it however you want.
:: why āinstinctsā?Ā because these archetypes indicate the personās priority in life to secure their well-being, survival, and self-fulfillment. itās about human instinct, orientation, what compels you.Ā
šif you like motivation psychology, this is a great basic way to find out and categorize what drives you/someone. itās absolutely eye-opening.
