Title: My Baby Was Born in a War Zone. Now I’m Just Trying to Keep Him Alive.
The price of a box of milk is $80, the price of a box of diapers is $100, and the price of flour is $800.
Hello, my name is Enas Hajjo. I’m 30 years old, and I live in Gaza. A few days ago, I gave birth to my baby boy during one of the most terrifying times of my life. The birth was extremely difficult—not because of any medical condition, but because there is no food, no medicine, and no safety here anymore. Everything around us has been destroyed, including my home.
Despite everything, I’m so grateful my baby was born alive and safe. I’ve dreamed of becoming a mother for so long. That dream finally came true, but now I’m facing a nightmare I never imagined—trying to keep my newborn alive without the basic necessities.
Because of the war, the price of baby formula has skyrocketed to $80 per can, and a single pack of diapers costs $100—prices that are completely out of reach for me and so many others. I can’t breastfeed because I’m suffering from severe malnutrition. My body simply can’t produce milk.
My baby cries constantly, and I know it’s because he’s hungry. I hold him close, try to comfort him, but nothing replaces the nourishment he needs.
Do you know why baby formula is the most important thing?
Because most babies have stopped breastfeeding,
and the reason is their mothers' breasts have dried up due to starvation!
A week old baby
How can they endure hunger? What can they do?
Their continuous crying from hunger—how can it stop, other than by death? 💔
A real question that needs a real answer, world!
Please, I’m begging from the depths of a mother’s heart—help me feed my baby. Help me give him the chance to survive, to grow, to live beyond this war.
