hi i just fell into the sherstrade hole and i absolute love this blog, bless u all for starting it!! i just wanted to know if you have some sort of list of episodes that has the best sherstrade moments in them? (i really wanted to edit them but im having a hard time sifting through the whole series all over again)
I think the best way to navigate Sherstrade-esque episodes is firstly to make sure Lestrade is in them prominently or in key scenes, so obviously, The Blind Banker is a no.
My fave Lestrade episodes (because it’s usually in a situation where Sherlock is there and interacts with him) are A Study in Pink (which introduces their co-dependence), especially The Great Game (which highlights how much Sherlock depends on him for cases), The Reichenbach Fall (because Lestrade is one of the three he was protecting from Moriarty) and The Hounds of Baskerville (because Lestrade looks lovely, natch). We all love The Empty Hearse for #thehug and The Sign of Three for that hilarious competence porn of Lestrade shutting that wedding venue down so that Sherlock can make sure the culprit doesn’t escape the building.
I generally don’t like Season 4 except for how Sherlock predicts that Lestrade’s attempts at a first date probably won’t go well. At least he actually cares or he wouldn’t even express an opinion. That’s very Sherstrade-y. Most people don’t think of Lestrade admiring Sherlock as Sherstrade-y because that’s canon. So when it’s the other way around, it’s quite a sweet bit of evidence that Sherstrade is a thing and that it’s more than okay to ‘ship.
I leave it to the rest of the shippers to fill in the gaps.
ETA: Oh and A Scandal in Belgravia is good for when Sherlock deduces that Lestrade’s wife is having an affair with a teacher at the Christmas party. It’s kind of the start of his concern about Lestrade’s failing love life that leads on to his attempt to date in Season 4. Sherlock always seems to worry about Lestrade’s love life, hmmm.
