Today, finishing up the beadwork and then to assemble the piece. All of the beaded flowers are ready to go. The round copper beads remind me of my dad. As a child, he had a BB gun just like little Ralphie in the Christmas Story (you’re gonna shoot your eye out!) and even as an adult he’d like to set up cans to target practice. Couldn’t take the kid out of him. I’d find those tiny ball bearings all over the laundry room - that’s where he would target practice at times. I know that sounds crazy, but it was a long room. When I bought the beads it was the first memory that popped into my head. Being that this piece is about our love for him and holding on to the “anchor” that he was, just seems like the appropriate touch. Small Works opening Dec. 13th at @lastritesgallery - - Sidenote: Also appears that Instagram has changed something again, so if interested you might want to turn on notifications in order to see my posts. I’ve been getting some feedback that people are not seeing them in their feeds. Okay... more to come soon! #rebeccareeves https://www.instagram.com/p/B47iAv5HkMZ/?igshid=1adqa5iljfnf5
