The best part of his day had always been when he walked through the door, either having Dora placed in his arms, or Andy giving him a kiss. It always made the worries melt away, since him and Andromeda made a pact, that he wouldn’t bring work home. His girls definitely helped him with that. Not to mention, moments like these? They made him forget that there was a world out there outside of their own. “I am.” He replied, knowing he had probably hit her feelings head on. He had become quite in-tuned to how his wife felt most days. “I love you too, Dromeda.” Those words never failed to make his heart flutter, even all these years later. “Very true and we have plenty of good times, especially with this little bugger.” He tickled the baby lightly, making her squeal. Ted just leaned over, kissing her temple gently.

Andromeda sometimes wished that she could work, mostly because it got boring being at home with just their daughter, but she knew that it was for the best that their daughter have her all day by herself. And Andromeda did love it more than anything most of the time. It was just the harder days that she wished she could just go out. But then she remembered how much she loved her daughter and family and that made it worth it. She looked up at him and smiled when he said that he was. “Good,” she said, nodding her head. She was always happy when he told her that he loved her too. She smiled and leaned up, kissing him gently. She ran her hand through her hair and nodded her head. “I know, we do have plenty of good times,” she giggled, grinning at him. “This little girl does make our lives better, doesn’t she?” She asked, smiling. She smiled when he kissed her temple.

Ted laughed softly as he nodded to his wife. “Oh yes, she’s telling me all about how you and her had cuddles this morning, how you fed her and kept her warm despite it being cold out. Than she told me she was glad I was home because mommy seemed lonely and needed her Ted back home.” Ted smirked at his wife he had summed up his wives feelings and he couldn’t help it he wanted his wife to have everything and to be happy. “We just might have a bit of a rough time, but tell your momma you are so worth it.” He teased the little girl as he shook his head. “She loves her pink hair.” The color was growing on him he had to admit his daughter was a total cutie either way.

Andromeda looked at him and smiled when he spoke. “Oh, you are?” She asked, biting her lip and smiling as he summed up her feelings. That was pretty much how she felt that morning, she had been so happy to just have her husband home with her to cuddle and lay with that morning. She watched him and then leaned over and kissed him gently. “I love you so much,” she said, happily. She always loved having her husband home with her, it was something that just made her happy, she couldn’t get enough of him. She laughed and leaned down and kissed the baby. “Who cares about the rough times, the good times are all that matters,” She grinned. She nodded her head. “Yeah, I know,” she said, shaking her head.

Ted loved the fact that they had spent the day together as a family, he had a break at work and took the opportunity to go home and spend it with his girls. “She would be, shes a chatter box tonight you see.” Ted teased as the baby just cooed he knew it’d be a while before the baby talked but he enjoyed the sounds she made at least for right now. “Thank you love.” Ted said as he took the mug with his free hand. “I know but I am so excited for it to see how vibrant this little girl is going to be other than pink hair.” ted said laughing and at the mention of it his daughters hair turned color, he was glad at least that she was working on it.

Andromeda smiled at her husband and looked at their daughter. She was getting bigger, but she wished she could slow down time and make their daughter be a baby forever. She smiled. “I see that. Are you telling daddy all about your day?” She asked with a smile. She leaned over and kissed Dora’s head and then kissed her husbands cheek. “Of course,” she said, watching him and looking at their daughter. She nodded her head. “Me too. I think that we’re going to have quite the rough time with our perfect little girl,” she admitted with a sigh. She laughed as she watched her hair turn pink. “Crazy girl,” she smiled.

“Do you want marshmallows with your cocoa?“ Ted glanced up at his wife as he heard the simple question, the lop sided grin he gave his wife. “I know someone who would.” The very lively baby they had was curled up in his arms and right now she seemed like his little marshmallow being wrapped up in a blanket and in her fathers arms. Every time Ted felt her shiver his arm just tightened momentarily around the small bundle in his arms. “But yeah darlin, I’d love marshmallows on my cocoa.” It was just starting to snow and Ted looked back to their daughter. “See that love? Its snow one day you will be chased around by your mommy and I out in it.” He loved these moments just wrapped up in bliss in his home away from the war brewing outside their door.

Andromeda was making cocoa in the kitchen for them, it was snowing out and she thought that it was the perfect opportunity to make some and curl up around the fire and be a family together. It would be nice for them, something that they didn’t do very much. She laughed and looked at their daughter. “Oh, you do?” She asked, tilting her head. “She doesn’t happen to be the baby in your arms, is she?” She asked with a smile. She nodded her head and smiled. “Okay,” she said, walking back into the kitchen and putting the marshmallows into their mugs and then she brought them to him. “Here you go,” she said, smiling. “Next winter she’ll be up and running. It’s crazy, isn’t it?” She asked, shaking her head. She couldn’t believe it.

“Good thank you Dora.” Ted knew that they’d be okay together, he smiled laughing softly. “Well goodbye my cute little grandson.” He told the baby rubbing his daughters stomach for a moment. “I love you too Dromeda.” They stayed up most of the night just talking and he woke her early with a kiss. “Goodbye my Dromeda,” Ted packed his things as he slung the bag over his shoulder. He said goodbye to his girls as he met up with the boys.

The war dragged on as they trapped around England, hiding out like a fugitive. Eventually however snatchers caught up with them and Lee was announcing his death over the wireless. Ted had written her though every day, and not a day went by that he didn’t think of her and Dora till his last breath.

“Goodbye my Ted,” She whispered, looking at her husband. She had stayed up all night, memorizing his face, and everything about him. When he was gone, she cried for a long time, before she finally had to move on. Things got better for Dora, Remus came back eventually and she was truly happy for her daughter, but she missed her husband. It was hard, going through every day not knowing what was happening to him. That was probably the hardest part of it all. But then one day, she knew. Dora had shouted for her when they started announcing who had died, and then she heard it. Her husband’s name. He was dead. He was never coming back. He was gone. And she collapsed to the floor, sobbing, as Remus and her nearly nine month pregnant daughter rushed to her side, trying to comfort her. But there was no comforting her. She couldn’t be comforted, she couldn’t do this without her Ted. How could she go on knowing that he was gone? How...Dora gave her a potion to sleep, and she spent the next few days in and out of consciousness. It was bad for a while, but after about a week, Dora handed her a letter.

“You will always have me Dora.” He said softly as he then felt himself even choking up as he held his daughter. Ted sighed and then held his wife tightly and his daughter. He laughed softly feeling her boy kick. “Atta boy way to be active, I think with that we will retire Dora.” Ted kissed his daughters head goodnight as he led his wife and climbed into bed with her for the last time. “Come cuddle up to me love let me hold you and have one last night of peace.” He said softly knowing in the morning he’d wake her and be out the door.

Dora nodded her head. “I know dad.” She said, hugging her father. “I’ll watch after mom for you,” she promised, knowing that it would give her father some peace of mind. She smiled, glad that her father got to feel the baby kick. “He’s saying bye,” she said, tearfully. She nodded her head. “Okay,” she said. Andromeda went with him into their bedroom and got into bed with him, knowing that she wasn’t going to sleep tonight. Not at all. “Okay,” She said, leaning over, she kissed his cheek and squeezed his hand gently. “I love you so much, Ted.”

“I know, but this is the just incase. My love you have no idea how many years I have fighted this just because I was a muggle-born and not to mention fell in love with one of the most notorious pure blooded women. Which is why I understand who you love, I couldn’t choose loving your mother no matter the danger it put me in. But I can choose to protect you girls, and as long as I am on the run your mother will be spared being tortured again, and you my love will be as well.” Ted kissed his daughters head, he wasn’t running because he wanted too no it was because he had too. “Good if not I will track him down and give ole Remus a talking too like the old days, I can be cross if messed with or if my little girl is.” He just moved to pull his daughter into his arms. “I will miss you too Dora, now you listen to me. I don’t approve of you being anywhere in this battle do you understand me? But I know you are as stubborn as your damn mother, so if you are out there, control that bubble gum hair of yours its a dead give away and you have more than just you to think about now, and give em hell.” Ted smiled as he then turned looking back at his wive’s tear stained face. “That isn’t a sight I haven’t seen in years.” He said softly as he opened his arm for his wife too, he’d take care of his girls tonight one last night.

Dora looked at her father and listened to him speak. She knew that he would understand why she fell for Remus and why she couldn’t turn her feelings off, despite all the danger, despite the fact that he was a werewolf, and a man that was so much older than her. “I’m so proud of you, dad,” she said, looking at her father, the man that she adored ever since she was a child. “Thank you for being my dad...for being the best dad. I’m lucky to have you,” she said, closing her eyes when he kissed her head, remembering this moment because she knew that it would be a while until she saw him again. She gave him a teary smile. “I know you can. But i’ll handle it, dad,” she promised. Dora almost laughed when he spoke. Her father did know her well. He knew that she wasn’t going to sit by and let innocent people die while he sat at home. She just wouldn’t do it. But she could protect herself, and she always would. She looked up at him and hugged him tightly. “I promise i’ll be careful, dad,” she said, softly. Andromeda came out of their room and broke down again when she saw her husband hugging their daughter. She didn’t know how she could be a mom without him. He was the one that always smoothed things up when her and Dora fought. How would they manage? But she went to him and hugged him tightly, wrapping her arms around him and their daughter.

“No love this time you can’t..” He let her go as he then looked over at his daughter. “I need you to do me a favor love.” He scribbled a few more things down onto some parchment and he then slid it into an envelope and charmed it so only Andromeda could open it. “I need you to give this to your mother if I don’t ever come home okay? I know I didn’t support you loving someone who well is my age…but go slap some sense into him yeah? Be stubborn like your mother, make sure this boy sees his father its important you hear me? Be safe out there because if you weren’t don’t think I wont punish you when I get back.” Ted kissed his daughters head. “I have loved being your father all of these years, you are more than I could of ever hoped for in my daughter.”

Dora looked at her father and nodded her head. “Anything,” she said, watching as her father wrote on parchment, she frowned but waited for him to finish before she took the envelope. “I promise. But you’re going to come home, dad. I know that you are,” Dora told him, shaking her head. Dora smiled faintly at her father as he said that he didn’t support her love for Remus at first, she had known that he didn’t, but she couldn’t help who she fell in love with. Love was love. But she was glad that her parents had come around. “I will, dad, I promise,” she said, nodding her head. “I’ll make him come home to me and the baby. Just like you will come home to mom,” she said softly. She closed her eyes. “And I’ve loved being your daughter. I’m going to miss you dad. So much.”

“Same love. I don’t want to go..” But he knew even their flat wasn’t safe for him anymore it wasn’t protected like it had been when they controlled Hogwarts no the bad guys had it in their control now. He just gave his wife a sad forlorn smile as he kissed her head. “We should get dressed love, Dora should be back soon.” Ted bit his lip he leaned over and kissed his wife deeply god he was trying to keep his emotions in check as he slowly pulled away from her and straightened up the mess they made he looked up just as they both dressed and he heard the crack of their daughter coming back, he gave his wife a small smile. “Hi princess.”

Andromeda nodded her head. “I don’t want you to go,” she finally said softly. “But I can’t be selfish...” She had always been selfish, but this was one time that she couldn’t be. She had to let him go, because it was the best chance that he would return home safe to her. She nodded her head. “I know,” she said sadly. She stood up and kissed him back, feeling a few tears slip down her cheeks. She wiped them away and went to change into something. She heard their daughter return home, but stayed in their room needing a moment. “Hi daddy,” Dora said, looking at her father.

Ted grinned at his wife knowing they both wanted the same thing in the moment. “I love you too.” Ted said as he waved his hand and wandlessly started a fire.

They were a tangle of limbs infront of the fire as they cuddled with various pillows and a blanket over them. Ted just admired his wife. “I am going to miss that you know.” For some reason maybe because they knew that it could possibly be their last that it was that much more passionate, and loving he hadn’t seen that sort of passion out of his wife in years and he just wanted to hold onto the moment.

Andromeda grinned at him and nodded her head, just relishing in the moment, happy to have it.

She laid besides him in his arms as they laid on the floor, the blanket over them as she watched the fire. Andromeda turned her head to look at him and smiled sadly. “I know. I’m going to miss you too. So much. Every day,” she squeezed his hand gently. As time ticked on, she started feeling more panicked inside, at the inevitable--he was leaving, and she couldn’t stop him. She had thrown everything into showing him how much she loved him. Just in case.

If there was some off chance that they didn’t get another moment again he wanted his wife to know that he gave it his all before he left. “Shall we start a fire, get a little risky? Leave the music on low..” Ted asked as he swayed with his wife his hands roaming over her back gently.

Andromeda looked up at him and grinned when he spoke. She nodded her head. “I think that we should,” she said, biting her lip. She knew that their daughter wouldn’t be home until later, they had time, and she wanted to be with him. She leaned up and kissed him passionately. “I love you.”

Ted just smiled softly at Andromeda. “I love being your husband all of these years I have loved almost every minute of it.” Except for those moments she had been quite cross with him but they were few and far in between. He just pulled her close as he wrapped his arms around her and leaned down kissing her softly. “Do you think we have time before Dora gets back?” There was a mischevious look in his eye.

Andromeda looked at him and smiled, nodding her head. “I know,” she said, looking at him. It felt like they were saying everything they had to say...just in case. And it was breaking her heart more and more...but she didn’t want any regrets with him. She kissed him back and couldn’t help but laugh when he asked if she thought they had enough time. “I think we do,” she said with a grin as she looked up at him.

He smiled seeing his wife blushing after his words. “You are quite welcome Mrs. Tonks.” He replied it never got old reminding himself that she was his wife he still felt lucky to this day. “I know I am.” His chest puffed out a bit more before he led her back up to their flat. “Yes it will be in the mean time however.” Ted shed the cloak as he closed the door and than waved his wand at the wireless. Holding out his hand for his wife he smiled. “Care to share this dance with me Andy?”

Andromeda looked at Ted and smiled. “I love being Mrs. Tonks,” she said after a moment. “I love being your wife.” She felt like she had so much she wanted to say to him, but not enough time to say it all. She giggled and smiled at him, kissing his cheek. She walked with him back to their flat and smiled when he turned the wireless on and held his hand out for her. “I would love to,” she said, stepping forward and taking his hand in hers, she wrapped her arms around him tightly.

“Yeah you in the moonlight? I think it’d be beautiful.” He told her softly as he still found his wife to be quite lovely. “I disagree, we aren’t a day over thirty ha.” He said softly as he kissed her softly, he would gladly do it though no matter how old they got he’d make her feel beautiful. “I can’t either I will come back as soon as possible so we can get out on that trip.” Ted turned them around after a while and walked back to their flat.

Andromeda looked at him and felt her cheeks turn slightly pink, looking up at him. “Well thank you,” she said, kissing his cheek. “Oh, you’re very right,” she said with a laugh. She didn’t care that they were getting older, as long as she had him by her side. She never felt particularly old, he always made sure that she was happy, which was all that mattered. Andromeda nodded her head. “This war will be over in no time,” she agreed, having to believe that she would have her husband back within a few weeks.

“Sounds like something for us to look forward too, and who knows maybe it will be summer, we can find a lake, go skinny dipping.” Ted still to this day loved pulling Andromeda out of her comfort zones wanting her to experience life not to just live it. “Oh lord.” He rolled his eyes at his wife before he looked down at her. “We will have many more I promise.” Ted whispered to his wife.

Andromeda laughed and grinned at him. “Oh, yeah?” She asked, shaking her head. She couldn’t imagine going skinny dipping, but with Ted she would do anything. “I think we’re too old for that,” she teased, kissing him gently. She always loved how Ted could get her to do crazy things. She looked up at him and smiled, nodding her head. “I know that we will,” she said softly, resting her head against him. “I can’t wait for all of our adventures.”

“That sounds brilliant, it will be our first holiday when I get back alright?” He told his wife leaning down kissing her cheek, he nodded his head knowing she was right he wouldn’t change it anyways he wouldn’t of met her if he did. “I guess you are right dear.” Ted looked over at his wife. “Love, I hope you know all of these years with you have been special and I have loved every moment of it.”

“Our first holiday when you get back,” she repeated, looking up at him. God, she loved him so much. She smiled when he kissed her cheek. There was nothing that she would change about her life, it had all brought him to her. “I’m always right,” she said, looking up at him. She felt tears prick in her eyes as she nodded her head. “You’ve made all these years wonderful too, my love. You made it worth living.”

Ted loved that even though he knew she wanted to cry that he actually had been able to make his wife laugh. “States huh? How about New York, I hear its really up and coming now, I would love to see it as well.” He knew they were poor but he’d splurge once the war was over as he looked around the streets muggles blissfully unaware. “I wonder if life would be easier if I was one of them still.” Ted pondered for a moment before he looked over at his wife.

Andromeda looked at him and smiled, nodding her head. “I haven’t been there since I was a little girl,” she said wistfully. “I’m sure it’s so...different now,” she said, looking at her husband. “I would love to go with you and show you,” she said, squeezing his hand. She would save everything she could so they could go when this was all over. She looked at the muggles and shook her head. “I don’t think so,” she said, honestly after a moment. “They still are in danger. They have problems,” she said, shrugging.
