Ok, so I play cello and all through school it was a big part of my identity. I was section leader in my high school orchestra and took private lessons from 4th-12th grade. However, I kind of let myself get out of practice once I got to college... Now I’m about to graduate and I’d like to be able to join a city orchestra when I move after graduation. So here I’m going to document my journey of getting back into cello.
Practiced for the first time since the move yesterday. Been about 6 months and my pinky has a fresh new blister that will hopefully callus over soon. I’m surprised at how much and how little I remember of certain things. My fingers are so slow while my bow arm seems to remember everything. Sheet music is pretty ok as long as it’s in an easy key.

you may recognize this guy as the “I love tofu” guy, Rushad Eggleston. I’ve encountered his music a few times before, but am only just now getting really into his music and style. He seems mostly inspired by himself with elements of bluegrass, rock n roll, and classical.
I love going to websites where you can transcribe music and post it publicly because some people will write their own original and beautiful pieces, some people will arrange well known pieces, and some people will transcribe Naruto.

I’ve been studying music and music history for several years at this point and literally just found out that mozart got married and had children? how did I miss this?
Trying to hype myself up by listening to yo-yo ma. I remember hearing him for the first time at Obama’s inauguration in 2008 in my classroom’s TV. I had just started playing cello (i was in 4th grade), so I was a little bit miffed that suddenly everyone suddenly knew what the cello was. I saw him live once. Love to see him live again some day.
