What If [Fili & Kili]

Fili didn’t back away quickly enough so he shoved his hand into his coat and pulled out nothing less than the Arkenstone itself. Bilbo, still beside Kili gasped seeing this. Oh this wasn’t good. Thorin had said he suspected one of his own having stolen the Arkenstone, but he doubted Fili had done that. Bilbo was sure if he had the stone he would be reluctant at giving it to him as well.

“Give it to me,” Thorin ordered, a terrifying shadow crossing his face as he inched closer to hi heir, “You stole it-” “No!” Fili interrupted, throwing his arm out and away from Thorin, “I never stole it, Thorin. I wished to give it to you, but seeing what it is doing to you…How can I with the right conscience do so?” he asked, barely finishing the sentence before Thorin snapped and his large hand wrapped around the blond’s neck starting to choke him harder the more he refused to hand it over.

As Fili pulled out the Arkenstone even Kili’s jaw dropped. Never did he expect that his own brother was holding onto the stone. He did understand why and believed that it was for the best but he honestly didn’t think for a second that Fili had been the one hiding it from Thorin.

The young dwarf could handle the yelling but as his uncle got violent he couldn’t stand back anymore. He wasn’t carrying his bow unfortunately, nor a sword but he knew that his brother was so he ran over to Fili and grabbed his sword before turning to his uncle. “Let him go!” Kili knew he could never hurt Thorin even if he wanted to. But he hoped in his insanity that the king under the mountain did not know that.

What If [Fili & Kili]

Fili stopped for a moment when Thorin lifted his head when he heard footsteps, barely greeting his eldest sister son. With the Arkenstone still missing it was hard for the sick King to be positive. He was suspicious even of his own kin.

The blond then continued on until he was on the bottom of the few steps before the throne and when he said nothing Thorin waved a hand at him, “Any news on the Arkenstone?” he asked to which Fili swallowed and took a moment too long to answer, “Where is it?” the King was already off his throne and charging towards Fili.

“Kili? What is going on?” Bilbo showed up behind the brunette and peeked past him, “Wait, what is he doing?” he asked, holding Kili back just incase he intended to meddle in.

Kili wanted to jump inbetween his brother and his uncle. It was obvious that he was ready to hurt Fili if he didn’t get what he wanted. Taking a deep breath he took one step closer before realizing that his brother wouldn’t want this, he wouldn’t want him to get in the middle of this. At least not yet.

The young dwarf turned quickly to look at the hobbit. “Now is not the time” Kili said turning back to look at his brother to make sure that he was still okay. This whole situatuon had him on edge and it was not like him to be on edge. He was stubborn and reckelss but very rarely scared or on edge.

“I do not know that now do I?” Fili rubbed his temple and stood up. He took a deep breath before placing a hand on Kili’s shoulder, “I… I will figure something out,” he nodded before heading down from the ramparts without another word. He patted the chest of his coat not as subtly as he hoped it was, heaing to the throne room.

It was a long walk, but indeed it was where Thorin was to be found. He wished the throne had been located somewhere there were actually floors rather than long, narrow pathways with no railings especially considering what he was about to do.

Kili didn’t have a chance to call his older brother back as he walked down the stairs. He watched Fili until he was out of sight before he quietly followed. He couldn’t let him do this himself. Even as the younger one he felt a need to protect his brother, however he hoped it wouldn’t be needed. He wasn’t sure if there was anything he could do to Thorin that would help.

As he caught up with his brother he attempted to stay somewhat hidden and quiet to make sure that Fili didn’t notice that he’d followed. It was something he was pretty sure his brother wouldn’t approve of.

What If [Fili & Kili]

"It is when there is no obvious way for us to deal with this! We have no way of knowing what he will do to any of us if we disobey," he stood up and held up a hand before Kili couldn’t interrupt him, "I could not care less what he would do to me, but I do worry for them," he looked down at where some of the company dwarves were trying to warm up by one of the fireplaces in the otherwise cold mountain, "What he would do to them. To Bilbo or even you. Just give me a little time to figure out what to say to him. To try and get him out of this… state of mind."

Just as Fili had suspected Kili attempted to interrupt him just as he held up a hand. The younger dwarf let out a low growl clearly not amused, but at least listening to his brother.

“You don’t think he could possibly hurt us do you?” Kili never considered the fact that the sickness might have affected Thorin that badly. It didn’t seem possible even, but perhaps it was. “You need to think faster. We don’t have much time, Fili” his words came out shaking slightly. The time was short and his brother was stalling, but now he at least knew why.

Fili recognizes the gold sickness. At once.

And it scares the hell out of him. He must go and see for himself, before everyone else.

He barely speaks. But his look says it all. (And Dean is a cracking good performer btw).
