“The fact that silver is even legal in small amounts here in Covaire has always irked me. I understand in some cases like punishment, but anything that is more than a painful nuisance is too much of an allowance regardless of who did it.”

“But if it is clean, then I’m not going to spoil such good food and company over it.”

Ziva nodded. She agreed with him about the silver. It really shouldn’t be so freely available. Especially in a place like this with wolves everywhere. Nodding, she placed down the bowl and took a seat. “The guy at the chateau who helped me clean it, did a pretty good job. I think.”

Quint shrugs. “Just cause I will get a collar round my neck or round my wrist wont change how I feel.” He replied with a smile. “Yeah, they can ban me from comin here, so that is why I gotta do what I can in the now.”

Emma hadn’t paid much attention when the girl sat next to her. She was irritated with the fact that her first night out was being fucked over by a shoe, “Huh?” she huffed out, aware of how annoyed she sounded, “No cabs yet,” she finally muttered.

That was probably a good thing. Hopefully she could just wait out here for a good while, and enjoy a false sense of freedom while it lasted. “Oh. Okay. Thanks.”

“I think you’re the first person around here, I’ve heard say that. Sooner or later you’ll be claimed, or I will.” Ziva was hoping against all odds, that she would never get claimed.

She couldn’t fight off the small smile that played upon her lips. “Aren’t you just all sorts of hopeful and optimistic. Our days are numbered” the wolf pointed out. They would either die here or get rented or claimed. There was nothing to look forward to.

“ you are lacking memory of your past behaviour? ” she concludes aloud, watching the slave with interest. “ why? ” iris questions, multiple options as to why the slave lacks memory, springing to mind.

The wolf nodded. She wasn’t sure if the Chateau informed people who tried to rent her of that, or not. It probably didn’t matter, for what they wanted to rent her for.  “I was in a really bad altercation”, that was putting it lightly. “Hit my head real hard, and was really messed up.”

“Even I’m wondering why I offered, if you’re not that bothered.”

Ziva nodded, not really concerned about food at the moment. She had been like death was coming her way, slowly but surely. “I’m sorry to disappoint.” She wasn’t really.

Jace nodded his head when he saw the guard motion out of the cell. Jace noticed the women for the first time but kept quiet for the most part until he heard the man’s words. Jace wasn’t going to correct him though, he was tired of beeing cooped up in that room. At least here he was given a chance to stretch his legs. “I have as well,” Jace finally confessed when the women said that she had just showered a few hours ago.

The guard didn’t seem to care what either of the slaves said. “You are filthy. Shower. Or I can make you.” Ziva sighed, so much for that. Shaking hear head softly, she turned away from both of them and started to take of her shirt when she saw another guard come in. She paused and looked at him, hoping he would get her off the hook. “Whats going on in here?” He asked.

Quint moved the now chewed paste of plant matter to his lip like it was chewing tobacco, moving to use some of the water to wet the woman’s wrists. He knew it would hurt, but they needed to at least try to get it somewhat clean. He used some more water to wet the strips of cloth before pulling out some of the plant matter from his mouth and gently smearing it into the wounds. The plants should numb the wounds as well as reduce swelling….it was the best they could do right now. After smearing the plants on the girl’s wounds, he wrapped one of the damp strips n either one of the wrists, before doing it again with the last remaining strips. He quickly took a gulp of water, washing out his mouth and spitting it to the side. “Its the best I can do, hun….but, uh…if ya comfortable durin shower time I can clean em out for ya. As long as the silver stays ya wounds wont heal properly.”

“It’s more than anything anyone else would do. I still don’t think you should put yourself in so much trouble, just for me. Everyone only looks out for themselves.” Ziva had seen how much pain Hayato had been in, when he was hurt with silver. For her part, she had been trying to hide how painful it really was. The Chateau was a place where weaknesses were exploited. Wincing a little as he wrapped her wrists, her fingers curled inwards, tightening into a fist. It was only a matter of time before someone came around and claimed him, or her. It was nice to see someone with genuine compassion still left in them. Hopefully this place wouldn’t kill that part of him.

The guard conceded the point, “You’re right, you didn’t.” Leo’s expression, turned up into a slight grin, “You didn’t have to sit up. You looked rather comfortable.” 

“It’s okay.” Ziva didn’t remember most things, but she knew well enough not to have her back to someone, when they were in her cell.

Quint offered her a smile as he chewed before patting down his pockets and finding a handkerchief. He ripped it into strips, motioning for the girl to sit down. He knelt down by her, holding his wrists out in front of him to silently ask her to do the same.

Sitting down, she felt like a child and an idiot. She was a wolf, how did she not what to do if infected by silver. Holding out her wrists, she let him do whatever it was he planned on doing. Intent on learning how to do it herself. At this rate, she was going to get herself killed. Maybe that wouldn’t be so bad. Her voice was low and almost a whisper, “thanks.”

“ a troublemaker? ” iris echoes, arching a brow in curiosity. something was off, not quite right, that much she could make out from the slave’s words, she could sense that there was more, something underlying in a sense. intrigued, she steps towards  “ are you one? ” she asks, watching the slave closely.

The wolf shrugged. “I don’t know. I don’t really remember. Can’t vouch for my past.” She had seen some of the masters and mistresses look at her like she was an idiot, when she said that. It was the only truth that she knew.

Quint nodded, looking at the weeds that littered the courtyard. Unless he can scrub tbe wounds, he wont be able to get rid of the silver…but he can alivate the pain slightly. Finding some weeds he knew, he left the girl to pluck them. After bartering with a slave for the last few drinks of their water, he came back to the girl. “Aight…sorry, this is gonna seem gross.” He apologized, shoving the plants he had picked in his mouth and starting to chew them.

Ziva watched as he looked around and then grabbed some random weeds from the ground. The wolf remembered her mother mixing salves together. It hadn’t dawned on her until after she was bit, that it was meant for wolves. His dedication to trying to get rid of the silver on her skin, reminder her of her father and brothers. “I grew up with brothers, not easy to gross me out” she chimed. What he was doing, made sense, given their lack of resources.

“Who laced your bindings with silver? I understand your memory isn’t great, but you should at least know silver burns when you see them. Especially after having to take care of me during the moon last month.”

Hayato quickly examined them with a scowl on his face. He was always one to be grumpy when other wolves had silver forced on them. “Well it looks like I’ll be spending time taking care of you after dinner since you’re not in risk of losing your life. I’m not about to go find my tweezers and medicines while I have expensive food cooking.”

He pointed at the large bowl-like thing. “But if you could take that nabemono to the table in the meantime it would be helpful.”

“A master.” She didn’t even know his name, he didn’t care to tell her and she didn’t ask. Ziva was aware that silver burns, since her experience with him during the full moon. But there wasn’t much she could do, when a master rented her for the sole purpose of his pleasure, which included torture. 

“It’s a lot better than it was, someone at the Chateau helped me with it.” Nodding, she grabbed the large bowl and moved it towards the table.

“ zee. ” iris repeats with an arched eyebrow, not quite believing that this is the whole truth. “ interesting. ” is all she offers, sizing the slave. a wolf, young and well—- definitely quite something. “ what else do they say about you? ”

“Apparently I used to be a troublemaker.” That’s what she had heard from other slaves and some of the guards. Ziva had no idea why she was sent to solitary constantly, based off what they said. Ever since she lost her memories, Ziva had not been to solitary even once. It fueled her even further to find out exactly who she was. There was a layer of rage and violence she had constantly been pushing aside, perhaps that layer was stronger and louder before.

Mathias glanced over her form, a shrug of his shoulders followed by a small smile.

“Hungry?”

Was she supposed to carry on lying down, that sounded like a trap. She didn’t know who he was, hut that wasn’t surprising. Ziva had seen him around a few times. “I don’t know about hunger, but I can always eat.”
