The thing is, I haven’t looked into this movie much but “male sex worker who becomes pregnant with a terrifying creature” could’ve been a fantastic case of body horror focused on a transmasculine perspective but considering both the responses I’ve seen and the fact that the MC is going to be played by a cis man I have zero hope that trans men are going to be allowed any space in this conversation but whatever I guess. hello any tips for person with severe asthma wanting to bind chest? i cannot even wear bras :(

I'm going to be honest, my tip is to not bind and learn to not associate your breasts with femininity, you gotta masculinize/androgynize the boobs in your mind. If your asthma is so bad you can't wear bras then it's probably really unsafe for you to bind. I'm really sorry 🫂 this is a battle you have to fight internally instead of externally

@cipherdragon i would also suggest trying tape (doesn't compress the rib cage) and baggy clothes (woven fabrics and patterns such as plaid are especially good). When I don't bind I often wear a flannel button-up shirt over a t-shirt and it disguises my chest pretty well (though to be fair I don't have very big boobs).

But also remember that a lot of cis guys have boobs (especially if you're fat/plus-size/whatever)

@cipherdragon I've seen stays (see link) used underneath loose shirts, they don't compress the breasts as much as binders but they make the torso flatter with the added benefit of not having as much contour as a corset. I'm not sure if it'll work with your asthma but I find corsets to be easier on the chest than even sports bras in terms of compression, it could be worth checking out, especially if you can get one secondhand. I also don't know how well it works with larger chests/fat bodies, mostly because it's hard to find photo examples of those.

It’s so confusing to me when people that don’t believe in transandrophobia go “Of course trans guys have issues and that should be talked about!!” Like I’ve been helped by people in the transandrophobia tag more than literally any other group of trans people. I didn’t know that vaginal atrophy was treatable in a way that didn’t affect HRT until someone in the tag made a post about it. I didn’t know male pattern baldness was very easily treatable until I saw a post about it in the tag. Hell, I didn’t even know that it could affect fertility (I did know it wasn’t birth control, but I didn’t know that apparently we don’t even know if it affects that????)! There are so many important things I’ve learned from the tag and, in general, I’ve received so much more support and love for my transition then from spaces outside it.

1000%, the transandrophobia tag (clogged with trolls and fuckwits as it is) is such an open place for people to actually share important information about Existing as a trans man (or transmasculine person). I really don't think it's a coincidence that the people most willing and able to constructively discuss the effects of androgenising HRT and navigating the world whilst transmasculine are the same people who are actively criticising and analysing the ideological systems of oppression which work against trans men/transmasculine folk.

Like. Yeah. Trans guys have specific issues that should be talked about. There's actually a word for it. That we came up with to help us talk about it. You know. Because without constructing language to analyse our experiences we will be trapped in a state of hermeneutical injustice.

Here's some info for those that are curious. I'll leave my thoughts under the cut:

I would just not make assumptions and wait until we hear more about this. The most that worries me about this is the harassment from antis that will follow after. Not to mention, people getting spammed esp those that are involved.

I will also mention that the lawsuit is named for Spindlehorse and not Vivienne Medrano or any specific name. So, it could be about anybody or, yes, even Viv. We wont know the entirety probably until the Summer. Knowing Spindlehorse, things do tend to get nipped in the bud fairly quickly and efficiently. Hell, there's a huge chance we may never know the outcome and that is okay.

More importantly, please, do not let this affect your own morality, esp if you continue to enjoy the show. This could be something or it could be nothing. Either way, I do think it's something that should be addressed and taken care of. If you need to leave the fandom, then do so. If you need a break from social media, take a break. I hate the "Carmilla adopts Vaggie" concept with a burning passion and here's why:

There is not enough time for that in the show whatsoever. An adoption plot where a main character gets adopted needs at least 20 episodes, not just to build the relationship between Vaggie and Carmilla but also between Vaggie and Odette, and Vaggie and Clara (Carmilla's daughters), and there needs to be time to establish Carmilla as a character instead of just a plot device, and even if the show had a 26 episode season that would take a long time

The main cast is big enough already, Carmilla does not need to become a major player and adding yet another major character would make it harder to characterize the existing ones and establish relationships between them

Vaggie is a whole grown adult woman, she does not need to be adopted

It feels reductive to Carmilla as a character for her to just go "yeah I'll adopt this random person who I trained once," both in terms of her as an overlord and as an existing mother to two daughters. It cheapens the relationship between Carmilla and her daughters for her to adopt someone she knew for like an hour. Her entire motivation in season 1 was to protect her family and how important her daughters are to her, and for her to turn around and just adopt someone else (who also used to try and kill them every year) cheapens their importance unless you spend an incredible amount of time building up why Carmilla wants to adopt her

Carmilla as an overlord needs to be interrogated if she's to adopt Vaggie. Charlie's hotel is about trying to redeem sinners and Carmilla owning souls directly opposes that

Again, Vaggie is a grown adult woman. At absolute most she could use a mentor but even then we circle back to the issues of a giant cast because Lucifer is a fallen angel like her and he's already right there

That's such a boring dynamic. Neither Hazbin nor Helluva have ever had "nuclear" family dynamics, and Vaggie being adopted is just such a plain and unimaginative interpretation

I would much rather Vaggie's subplot be about investigating her past as an exterminator and how she can move on from being a murderer in a hate cult who specifically targeted and wished to exterminate the people she is now trying to help

In fandom, it often completely erases the complexity of Carmilla as an overlord and doesn't do anything with her daughters aside from making them Vaggie/Chaggie cheerleaders

My biggest clue that Vaggi will not be adopted by Carmilla is her existing daughters, who:

Barely have 2 lines each

Didn't even speak in the second season

Don't have confirmed voice actors

Haven't had their names said in the show

Have no scenes to establish personality, anything you want to know about them has to be gleaned from watching them in the background, and even then you're guessing

If Vaggi was to be adopted, those two would need to be built up as characters because you cannot, cannot adopt someone into your family without discussing it with your existing family first. They haven't even met Vaggi, they weren't even in the finale (which is fair, Carmilla doesn't want her daughters anywhere near that bullshit), do they even know Vaggi's name?

so it would be very likely that Stella was manipulated or got drunk on purpose and had relations with an imp and give birth to Octavia,

Stella is a decent mother to Octavia but given her personality she wouldn't tell Octavia even if she wanted to,

unlike Stolas she really preserves her reputation she would only have Octavia as a daughter nor would she care about her biological father and order him to be killed

Now the biological imp father or mother,

the creators and producers etc. would have to invent that this imp is dangerous, leaving them dead without knowing would create openings

but it would be forced for the biological imp father or mother to be a random but notorious demon,

so why couldn't the father be Blitzo? He is well qualified for this narrative, it would explain Octavia's boot feet
